I was never a huge fan of Wong Fu stuff after they tried to do more than music videos, but this looks pretty good..

A local billionaire pleads guilty to unlawful confinement - News1130

David Ho, owner of the University Golf Club and MCL Motors, was arrested following a police investigation that began in late December. Ho burst into public prominence in 1987 when he bought Gray Beverage.

Ho, 57, is charged with the following offences:

Ӣ unlawful confinement
Ӣ unlawfully causing bodily harm
Ӣ storage of a firearm contrary to regulations
Ӣ unauthorized possession of a firearm
Ӣ possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Ӣ possession of a prohibited weapon without a licence
Ӣ possession of a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

According to a Vancouver Police Department statement, Ho connected with a woman on a chat line and brought her back to his house on December 28, 2008.

Ho allegedly prevented her from leaving at 4:45 the next morning. She called 9-1-1, a violent struggle allegedly occurred, and she managed to escape after suffering a fractured ankle and minor injuries.

Ho created the now-defunct Harmony Airways, which at one time was headed by former B.C. Liberal finance minister Gary Collins. Ho's father made a fortune as the head of Hong Kong Tobacco Co.

Tom “Terrific” Campbell, Vancouver mayor, dies at 84.

http://postmediavancouversun.files.w...m-campbell.jpg

Anyone who lived in Vancouver in the 1960s and 1970′s will probably recall Mayor Tom “Teriffic” Campbell, a polarizing political figure who on the one hand initiated many modern changes, but on the other hand caused much strife with his style.Campbell died today. We’re now working on a story and obituary. But suffice to say he was certainly at the centre of some very important civic events, including the infamous Gastown Riot, sparked when police busted up a peaceful “Smoke-In” at Maple Square.
We’ll have much more online shortly, but Mayor Gregor Robertson sent out this note of condolences a short while ago, absence any note of Campbell’s other more infamous actions.

Mayor’s Statement on passing of former Mayor Tom Campbell
Mayor Gregor Robertson offers this statement on the recent passing of former Vancouver Mayor Tom Campbell:

“As Mayor, Tom Campbell oversaw a significant period of growth and change in our city.

“During his time as mayor, Vancouver saw the completion of many significant projects and initiatives that changed our landscape. These range from the Two Bentall Centre, Bloedel Conservatory, the Centennial Museum, H.R. MacMillan Planetarium, and Pacific Centre.

“He also oversaw the acquisition of the south shore of False Creek in 1969, decades before it became one of the most sought-after places to live in the city.

“These achievements have left a lasting legacy on Vancouver, giving the city some of its most well-known structures and areas. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service and shaping the city.

“We extend our sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.”

A native of Vancouver, Tom Campbell first joined City Council as an alderman in 1962. In 1966, he was elected mayor and went on to serve three terms, from 1967 until 1972, when he returned to private life.

Drove by 6th street @ royal avenue, in new west. whole street was shutdown with cops and police tape. anyone know what's up?

KingDeeCee 02-03-2012 11:25 PM

Any pool/billards places in Vancouver/Burnaby that aren't "sketchy" and have more than 1 table?

Me and some buddies went to some nammer place on Kingsway and they only have one tabel, so that one is out. Plus it was hella sketchy. Richmond is also out of our way so Q1 and Espot isn't an option.

Crackheads...safe bet is always crack heads.

The hotel turned apartment building at that corner is just an open invitation for every piece of shit in the LM to find cheap housing. We had a person come to look at an apartment that was living there, and she described it as a smaller, cooler version of hell. Any given night she said it was just pure chaos in the halls, apartment, lobby, you name it. I think there has been a few stabbings and some gun related fun as well. The windows don't even open. They shouldn't have reno'd it, it should have been leveled. Could have had condo units, over half with an incredible view.

She seemed "decent", so I don't know why she lived there.

Tragic. The place "was" pretty nice.

Oh well........

That's not to say you still can't go and have fun! Maybe bottle bowling may be easier than pool though.

This year's show is going to be the best one Vancouver has ever seen.

Have you noticed the price of tickets is significantly higher than in past years?

That's because they've majorly upgraded the show. They had been bringing in less and less dirt into BC Place for years, and I think they didn't even have any last year... but this year, they've brought in enough to cover the entire arena floor!

If you see a :alone: Chinese guy walking around by himself with a Canucks hoodie, there's a good chance that's me... LoL...
