Has anyone been a cadet?

Can anyone tell me why for all these years they endure the elements, no matter how cold or hot, in their uniforms to accept donations in front of supermarkets?

Not that it is my concern, and I don't mean to rude or insulting in any way, but I'm just curious, instead of standing outside with a can, could they not expend their efforts to other fundraising activities?

Could they not wash cars or have a bake sale instead? It seems much more effective than standing all day for getting nickels and dimes

I think it could be exposure and probably part of their training, as well. I talk to them when I can about their base and affiliation.

They are all so polite and well mannered.

Better than getting into drugs and vandalizing............... as for bake sales...... Girl Guide cookies, ftmfw!

I was in army cadets through high school and fundraising outside is no different than girl guides selling cookies outside a supermarket and usually they're only there for a few hours. There's more traffic from standing in a populated area than there is hoping that people are hungry or have a car to wash which can take a bit of time and take several people at once. IF they had a car wash and you were to go to it how much would you donate? 5...10$? sit there for 10 minutes and have 5-6 kids rushing through washing it and probably resulting in you going home and re washing it yourself, or take 40 kids and scatter them around entrances to super markets/malls and have hundreds of people walk past them donating 25c to 2$ at a time.

It's the uniforms that get people. Some of the guys were in cadets with me moved on to enlisting in the army and are now 10+ years in making the army their full time job. Some people see those kids and it gets to them because they may know a family member or a friends child/parent who has served and it melts their hearts thinking those kids could be the ones guarding you one day.

After many hours of brainstorming, we came up with the name, "Operation RevNose."

That was a long time ago.

It hasn't operated (pun intended) since our dispatcher left the country.

Find another dispatcher and we can try to get it up and running.

We had a lot of fun for the two years it ran...........

Even though I'm a Buddhist, I love non-secular music of the christian kind.

Even Gregorian Chant........... Schubert's Ave Maria always gets me in the feels. Yes, I took Music History at UBC along with Composing. Music is in my blood. It all started when I enrolled in summer band camp, lol.

Anyone ever have their fireplaced serviced in the Tri-Cities?
Any recommendations on a good company? How much do they usually charge?

Mine started acting up yesterday. Pilot light still on but not turning on when i switch the thermostat up. I'm hoping it's just a thermostat/switch issue but just in case it's worse, i could use some recommendations of a place I can call. Thanks!

Anyone ever ship a TV before?

I'm moving back to Vancouver and haven't been able to sell my 40" TV that isn't a significant loss. I checked Canadapost and it seems like it's only about $50-60 to ship it.. I know it might end up breaking but I have all the original packaging and what not.

Can't really decide if $50-60 is worth the gamble of losing the entire TV or just sell it for cheap and "lose" the $300.

How much did the TV cost to begin with (and when did you buy) and how much does it cost now? Might be a factor when considering whether to just get a new one or sell it for a loss but guaranteed to cover the cost of a new TV.

Bought it originally for $500 last year (looks like about ~$400 but I do understand TV values go down fast) and posted it up for $350 but all I've been getting is lowball offers of around $200 lol.

This question probably belongs to the auto chat group but don't want to start a new thread in case of being flamed. All I wanted to know is if a Honda dealership can transfer inventory from another dealer. I know some of the other manufacturers can do that, but wondering if honda can say like from Destination Honda to Richmond Honda. Thanks!
