What are your guys' go-to brakes and rotors for a daily driver? Preferably local and not overly expensive. Or should I go OEM (Acura)?

I'm pretty sure Acura OEM is made in Japan, whereas, your typical replacement non-OEM rotors and parts are pretty much from everywhere and anywhere else.

Not that they are inferior........ okay, they are. Most people wouldn't care less. That's why so many made in XXXXX parts are a dime a dozen. I get Honda OEM parts at wholesale cost from the stealership or get them from US on-line Honda parts dealers, like Bernardi, College Hills, HandA, etc. I buy rotors before they go bad. This way, I have them on hand and just put the new rotors on while the old ones get resurfaced, ready for next time.

I can't bring myself to put "made in wherever" parts on my car, but that's just me. I know, I know... snob I am. Some things you can cheap out on, brake parts, no.

Most companies don't make their own wear items (brakes, alternator, starter, sensors, fluids, struts, etc), they farm it out to someone else and then jack up the price.

Beck Arnley is usually reboxed OEM. Aimco/Delco rotors have been the best for me on my car, but ymmv. Right now I have Aimco rotors all the way around and beck pads on the front and I think Wagners on the rear. Raybestos are okay, just stay away from anything marked ATD. As far as price goes, honestly just like everything else, shop around. You might be able to pick up the pads for a good price at one parts place but the rotors at another.

That's not a trade secret, but Honda/Acura rarely has stuff that is labeled Made in Wherever (malaysia, taiwan, china, mexico). It's usually sourced from a company in japan. Of all the rotors and brake parts I've purchased for the many Honda cars I've owned over the decades, it has always been "Made in Japan." Nippon Denso, Hitachi, NGK, etc for other parts.

Having said that, airbags on Honda/Acura, BMW, etc. were made by Takata, lol. However, the defective airbag components were made in Mexico. So there you have it............

What's ATD? curious.

Made in Mexico, but designed in Japan. I don't think the country of origin is as relevant anymore, partly because any country can produce quality items and any country can produce junk, and partly because I know how bogus that process is. Half the time stuff isn't really made in the country it says it's from. I've built things here in Canada that say USA on them.

That said, it's usually easy enough to find out who makes the OEM parts so unless you really want a cardboard box that says Honda on it you may as well just order the Hitachi/Beck Arnley/Bosch part directly and save some money.

Anyone been to the North Vancouver nightmarket? How does it compare to the River Rock one in terms of food and stalls?

I was actually thinking of the SGD pads. The ATDs are fine (advanced technology) for the most part. Most people get the EHT (Element 3), they're our most popular brand for brakes. SGD are terrible, they're service grade and enough have come back defective that we dropped that part of the line. We have the police/heavy duty line from them now, they seem to sell pretty well too.

ATD/SGD/EHT/etc., are all just their line codes for each type of pad.

Completely different target audience and feel.

Richmond: Cheap shitty food, teenagers who are very happy they can come to NM easily (Ikea one is terrible to get by transit), and cell phone cases, korean socks, some swords, and terrible singers.

North Vancovuer: Food trucks, home-made items, spacious and filled with educated hippies, but everything is expensive as fuck. Be prepared to spend 3x on food alone. Also parking here is an absolute bitch, but your car won't get covered in dirt and you won't wait 30 minutes on Bridgeport.

Because of your post, I am compelled to let RS in on a little secret project of mine. It is eerily similar to the vid you posted.

You guys know about the Kama Sutra, right? Well, I have made some modifications to it by adding 21 more positions, plus many added features.


In order to continue my work by animating it all, I have started a "go fund me" page. It's not cheap to take on such a large undertaking. Making mannequins anatomically correct in all kinds of positions is a lot more complicated. It has to be realistic and fluid - complete with voice overs, lol.

Among some of the added features are special sections designed for special people. For example, I need help from select RS members who are experts in their field. Certain asian folk are known to be less endowed than the average male. I plan to address those issues by interviewing some of those "members" - pun was definitely intended there.

I also need expert advice from Lomac.............. need I say more? People with shorter legs than most must have a hard time. Sort of like, "How did T-Rex's play the trombone?"

Then, there's murd0c - our resident black guy. After he sent me pics of his new gf (and him - I guess something that big couldn't be deleted/cropped from the photos.) I got to wAndering, it must be tough for people with super saiyan members. How to not hurt your partner..... nuff said.
