I'm pretty sure bylaw wont do squat without proof or catching them in the act. Should I just throw it back in their yard late at night tonight or leave it leaning against their shitbox beater car or leave it as is since its not my property they dumped it on?

burnaby residents sure love dumping shit on the corner of the road. My neighborhood has couches, mattresses, bookshelves every week.

I'm considering getting a Smart Thermostat either the Nest or the Ecobee for the condo. Does anyone have any experience with either and is it worth it?

We're getting a lot of condensation by the windows and from my research, it's because of the humidity inside our place.

It seems like either of these Thermostats can help manage the humidity and I don't necessarily have to do all the adjustments myself with my not so smart thermostat (It's programmable though but so damn complicated).

I'm honestly not too sure how much money we'll save by going smart as our bill seems to be about $65 every 2 months.

How would it manage humidity unless you have a humidifier or dehumidifier linked to it?

It looks like they both use the AC when there is no dehumidifier. Not 100% sure how it works and if it'll actually reduce the humidity inside :)

Ecobee:

AC Overcool to Dehumidify

ecobee3 can use your air conditioner to lower indoor humidity in the absence of a dehumidifier.
Nest:

UnknownJinX 12-02-2017 02:28 PM

ACs by themselves can dehumidify, just not as much as a dedicated dehumidifier.

Ever noticed the water coming out of the bottom of your car when you run AC for a while? That's the moisture.

Love our nest. The best also has a humidity sensor built in which you can see in the app so you can monitor your humidity remotely.

I’d buy the nest again 100% and it’s super easy to install.

All of these “smart” thermostats however only work with central air, no baseboard heat

I just checked our current thermostat and it looks like it has all the wirings so it'll be a pretty install.

Now I'm just on the fence between the two, the ecobee is now supports Google Home and it's a bit cheaper.

Ecobeen is $219 + 1 sensor vs Nest $259 + a Google Home Mini (Not sure I need another speaker lol)

Nest seems to be more hands off once it "learns" your schedule right?

Hondaracer 12-02-2017 04:09 PM

Yea and you can program a week ahead in the app etc.

We don’t have AC but you have full control over almost all aspects of the HvaC system, I’ve never used the eco bee

Does anybody have any suggestions for a really good last minute cake to pick up tmro?
Its my bday tmro and im having a small dinner with my friends...theres gonna be 5-6 of us. I forgot it was my bday so its all super last minute lol.
My last resort cake is the Tuxedo cake from Costco but if anyone knows of anything better????

Inaii 12-02-2017 08:53 PM

DQ ice cream cake?

GLOW 12-02-2017 09:30 PM

depends where you're near. can stop by a chinese bakery and see what they have. personally if it was me i'd just stop by a safeway or a T&T and pick something small out of their bakery section and ask for a candle if they don't attach one to your box - should be free.

regarding nest, are there any rebates that come with using it or are they all in the US? i notice hydro had one but only for kelowna residents.

MSREE 12-02-2017 09:59 PM

^ Inaii, i totally would have done ice cream cake but ice cream messes up my skin like mad lol and im already breaking my diet tmro haha....we're going to a Brazilian Steakhouse! I love meat & I love dq :(

Glow, yes i was thinking like a grocery store type of cake too! My hotel is in Coal Harbour so ill be dt at like 3pm. I just dont know what grocery store cakes are decent cuz they could be hit or miss haha. Maybe like IGA or URban Fare I guess?

bobbinka 12-02-2017 10:09 PM

Can't go wrong with T&T cakes. Or if you're DT, there's an H-Mart closer than T&T

I stopped celebrating birthdays, 'cause it means one year closer to your death........

I used to look forward to parties and presents and getting old enough to drive, drink, vote, etc.

But that's just me at this age.......... happy birthday, you young thing, you.

Still.........

bday humps :ratedb: :ifyouknow:

i like the rectangular strawberry short cakes or a cheesecake. not the ideal bday cake but who cares, blow out a candle and eat.

coal harbour area i'd check out urban fair that's probably the closest one. not sure what's good there but they cater to AA quality people and yaletown millionaires so should have good selection. Kappa

Knowing your cheapness, it'd be a woman from the DTES who ends up passed out in the cake.

Now if it were GLOW in charge, it'd be more like this............

Spoiler!
