It's pretty lax now. During the summer, I walked into one, presented my ID and received their member card. I paid for my purchase with a credit card, and was out the door in less than 10 min.

^So no medical card is okay? Just ID?

To me the biggest change with an SSD is how quickly the computer is usable after login. As soon as I see the desktop, I can start opening things without having to wait for all the background stuff to load up.

Sometimes it’s at bus stops etc but sometimes it’s nust like in the middle of a sidewalk where there is almost no foot traffic

Can only imagine what compells them to spend their time there :/

My girlfriend struck up a conversation with one of them at the Sky Train station a few months back. Turns out many of them are sent up here from Salt Lake City, Utah. They work for a few months, and head home, and a new group comes up. Very strange that Mormons have the capital to conduct such a campaign in various cities.

CivicBlues 12-15-2017 08:55 AM

^Heh, The Church of Latter Day Saints is fucking loaded man. All Mormons are required to pay a % of their income to the church.

I just went to Salt Lake City last month and their organization is run like a corporation. They've got a huge shiny office building in the middle of SLC, not to mention they own blocks of the downtown core. Their Temple Square is like a Mormon theme park where girls (yes all teenage - 20ish girls) stand around and strike up conversations with anyone that walks by.

We took a 1/2 hour tour of Brigham Young's house with a two of these guides - one was from Korea and the other from Virginia. At the end of the tour they did the hard sell with Mormonism and offered us a free Book of Mormon. We just said...err no thanks we don't believe in God and headed out on our way. :fullofwin:

A bit scary but mostly harmless as far as I can tell. Most of them are just young and impressionable I suppose.

Many of the ones in Vancouver I think are Jehovah's Witnesses...not the same as Mormons

Drove by the hall on Granview Hwy there, and saw some good looking ladies, crazy though. That's a shame.

Did not know they had to pay % of their income. That's insane

Liquid_o2 12-15-2017 01:38 PM

the LDS church and Mormon's are VERY entrepreneurial. I have done a few projects in Salt Lake City, they are very business driven.

And they don't even have to pay taxes? I'm sure if they had to, they would just get around it by hiding their profits offshore, such is the trend.

It's called tithing.......... to tithe (tythe).

Used to be a tenth of your total income. Price to buy a ticket to heaven.

Spoiler!

god bless............

I ordered something from HK and it was shipped using DHL. I was expecting a customs fee with my package but didn't receive one when I opened the package. A month or two after the delivery I received a invoice for Duty & Brokerage not from DHL but from a 3rd party, Livingston International. Anyone seen this before and can confirm it's legit.

Thanks

MG1 12-22-2017 09:09 AM

Livingston is legit

In other news................ we could have a White Christmas and I’m not even being yraisis.

Razor Ramon HG 12-22-2017 05:51 PM

Has anyone applied for a replacement citizenship certificate?

Trying to help my dad apply for one since he misplaced the old one. It's such a pain in the ass since it asks for extremely specific information.

The application asks for information related to my dad's parents such as their citizenship number, date of marriage, etc, which my dad doesn't have or know. Doesn't help that they passed away like two decades ago.

Man, the application even starts off asking "Have you ever had a certificate of Canadian citizenship or naturalization? If yes, give information on the certificate." Fuck, I'm applying for a replacement because I've fucking lost the old one, why would I have it?!

MG1 12-24-2017 12:06 PM

Shit, might not be a white christmas...........

Snow must be on ground and it must be falling, as well.

2:00 am, maybe.......... does that count?

Also, reports of White Christmas at Broadway Skytrain Station, gulolol.

Give CIC a call, they are quite helpful although getting to an actual person is a pain.

And for the future, keep a copy of it somewhere. I keep scans of all important docs on dropbox and also certified true copies of things that I use often (my son's birth certificate for example) but I don't want to lose them.

Why do videos like these always get cut off abruptly like that?

Bouncing Bettys 12-25-2017 10:16 PM

Bought my son a Tonka Bulldozer similar to an old D9 Cat as I have operated and worked on them and are my favourite, and started showing him vids of D9's in action. Found this old promotional video from the 50's:

RIP, Johnny Bower. Great goalie. Used to play for Vancouver back before most of you were born. Won four Stanley Cups. One of the reasons I cheered on the Leafs. Hall of famer. Fought for our country. A true hero.
