He saw the writing on the wall............... 50% approval rating, which is the lowest for a mayor in all of Canada.

Don't think too many people will be shedding any tears over his leaving office.

I think there's more to the story. Anyway, Gung Haggis Fat Choy, Gregory.

I'd ask this in the food and fine dining section but this would probably get a better response.

I'm in need of finding a good Korean restaurant. I'm your typical white guy who doesn't venture off that much in food wise but my girlfriend loves Korean food...it might be because she's half Korean lol. Her birthday is coming up and I try new food all the time (except sea food. that's a no go) so I'm in need of some help finding a decent restaurant.

Any suggestions or places to avoid?

Does anyone employ a housekeeper?

Me and the hubs live in a 1bdr apartment and im thinking of hiring someone to help with the cleaning as I cant do it lately because i get adverse reactions to using chemicals. Im using a vinegar/tea tree oil solution right now but ive been thinking for a while maybe some help doing a deep clean would help me a lot. Im trying to go back to work but my extreme sensitivities are hindering me. TIA :) oh yes and im in Surrey Newton area :)

Need some help with DVD technology. Parents are asking me to help them make a replicate copy of one of their karaoke discs. The original is a DVD9. I'm so out of it... lol, do they even sell DVD's any more?

From my limited research, I think a DVD9 means it's a Dual Layer disc. Is that different from DVD+R DL (Or DVD-R DL)?

And is there a preferred disc type to use for Karaoke in case there are compatibility issues for the Karaoke machine?

I also have double sided single layer DVD disc. But not sure if I can use those to copy a single side dual layer disc....

corollagtSr5 01-15-2018 06:43 PM

Why dont you just waste a dvd by trying lol.

It's been a while since I've had to rip a DVD so some of my info might be outdated now. I used to use an app called DVDFab Decrypter. It could also compress the video to fit on a DVD5 if you didn't have a DVD9. As for media types (DVD+R vs DVD-R), it generally doesn't matter but you probably want a higher quality disc if you want it readable in most players.

A double sided DVD might be a bit more of a pain to use (because you'd have to flip the disc) but if that's all you have, you might as well just use it rather than go out and buy another spindle of discs. Try DVDFab and compress it to fit on a single DVD5 if you've got more of those. Since it's not HD quality content, I double most people would notice the difference.

Sorry of this question has been beaten to death on the forums, but I'm looking for a cell phone provider that strikes a balance between "inexpensive" and "network quality that doesn't suck". Currently I have the 1GB + 500 Canada-wide minutes/$40 plan from Virgin Mobile and I'm looking to save money on my cell phone bill. I don't need any data actually, so I can skip any voice + data plans, but a healthy amount of minutes (preferably Canada-wide since one of my close friends has a 613 number) and texts allotted would be nice.

^^^

$15/month for 3GB @ Fido (data only), paired with VOIP, like Fongo or VOIP.MS.

UPDATE: Third Party Liability pricing for policies effective Feb. 1, 2018

Thursday, January 04, 2018

In September 2017, ICBC announced that additional optional rate changes may be needed in 2018 and would be implemented on a quarterly basis.

As previously announced, quarterly increases will be an average of 2.2%, to a maximum of 9.6% for the year. Individual policy rates will depend on the age of the vehicle, value and use of a vehicle, and where it is being driven. For an average driver, this is an annual blended increase between basic and optional of 8%, or $130.

Some customers with policies renewing in early February 2018 have received renewal reminders which include a quote for optional Third Party Liability (TPL) coverage that is different from what is showing in ICBC systems. These renewal reminders do not include the optional rate adjustment which will take effect for TPL on February 1, 2018.

The correct rates are in ICBC systems and policies issued (APV250s) have correct premiums. Renewal reminders effective February 11 forward are being generated with correct premiums.

We appreciate this may result in more questions from customers and have prepared some points to help with those conversations.
•Your renewal reminder from ICBC is an estimate.
•It may also not include recent rate changes.
•Final pricing is confirmed when you come in to renew since there can be changes to coverage or drivers.
•There have been recent changes to optional rates. Each customer will be affected differently depending on the level of optional coverage you purchase and other factors used to set premiums.
•Optional insurance rates are increasing due to more crashes, injuries and the cost of these claims.

Looks like Cambie Bridge is getting a bike lane.

Vancouver city council approves new bike lane for Cambie Bridge | Vancouver Sun

mikemhg 01-18-2018 10:44 AM

^I'm hoping that since this is an election year, hopefully the new government and mayor coming in will put the brakes on this one before construction begins.

Who knows. Fuck this city is a frustrating one to live in.

CivicBlues 01-18-2018 11:11 AM

I seriously hope they do, the new administration needs to put the brakes on the Viaduct demolition too. We need a fucking common sense revolution in this city.

$400k for a couple truckloads of those concrete dividers? How is that possible, are they a grand a piece or something?

GS8 01-18-2018 01:05 PM

Oh this silly mayor. His last name makes perfect sense now.

Queen Elizabeth Theatre seating.

Mezzanine or Dress Circle or... ?

Checking out Distant Worlds. Music and Video.

ray666 01-19-2018 10:12 AM

^^^Dress circle. For a show like Distant Worlds, dress circle is definitely the way to go. Perfect level, and perfect distant where the screen should match most people's peripheral vision. Keep in mind these are the best seats in the house, so the tickets may be a bit pricey-er . However, first couple rows of Mezz aren't too bad too as they are just behind dress circle.
Source: I used to work for Vancouver Civic Theatres (who runs QET, Orpheum, Playhouse and the Annex).

Presto 01-19-2018 10:38 AM

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I missed out on the most forward dress circle seating. However, I scored front row centre on the mezzanine.
