I wish I could have attended this cringe worthy public hearing.

In short, a bunch of Richmond residences complaining/opposing the city in spending 15K to paint sidewalk to promote pride/LGBTQ.

Jmac 06-25-2019 10:56 AM

I hate rainbow (or any non-standard) crosswalks not because I’m anti-LGBTQ, but because it’s supposed to be a standardized road marking for public safety.

Fly a rainbow flag, paint a mural, etc. Don’t politicize safety devices.

bcedhk 06-25-2019 01:02 PM

agree, and these initiatives aside from the money are as effective as politicians giving "thoughts and prayers"

fliptuner 06-25-2019 02:45 PM

My demographic is not represented enough, in this city. I want a crosswalk made of Church's chicken and Timbits.

highfive 06-25-2019 04:58 PM

15k to paint a crosswalk?

Fuck that, use that money elsewhere imo.

Scrolling through news stories and found this:

^ that quote made it sound like somehow somebody was exploiting a loophole to use a free buffet to gain citizenship.

When you come home from the pub at 2 AM and see your new downstairs neighbour has left his/her bike unlocked leaning against the door ...

I've known this for over a year, but never thought too much about it. Each time I go to get it, I see so many people with the, "WTF?" reaction. I ran out of oyster sauce so I'm on my way to Costco to get a bottle. People see that shit in my cart and go, "They sell that here?" yup............. oyster sauce at Costco, gulololol. Who would've thunk, yes?

Sir Paul McCartney is playing at BC Place, tomorrow. I just noticed that a bunch of new tickets has been released by Ticketmaster. See one of the 2 remaining Beatles for less than $50!

Hmmm ... a bit harsh? I think UBC must have hosted truckloads of pro LBGTQ speakers, no? So UBC is barred because they hosted one that has a different view? Can someone explain the logic and reasoning behind this?

Pride can allow whomever they wish, doesn't mean they have to be logical about it

It's like the uproar over Cineplex allowing an anti abortion movie to be shown in their theatres, those against it, don't make sense

Krispy Kreme is celebrating its birthday on July 19 and for the occasion, the chain of doughnut-makers is selling its signature original glazed doughnuts by the dozen for just $1.

Per the fine print on the one-day-only promotion, you can take advantage of the $1 deal with the purchase of any dozen doughnuts at regular price – two dozen doughnuts maximum.

I know Amazon flex ship is not available in Canada,
But just saw a unmarked car, backseat full of Amazon boxes, making dropoffs around my neighborhood on Sunday afternoon.
Who are they?

That's the norm now. I get amazon packages every few days and have not see a marked Amazon van in a year. It's been a mix of uhaul daily rentals vans or unmarked civilian vehicles.

coneZONE 07-21-2019 05:03 PM

I'm not usually at home o receive my Amazon parcels, so i'm not aware any major change. Most of mine are still delivered by Canada Post and Purolator. Actually, nevermind that. I think i've received packages in late evening (for their "delivered by 9PM" promise) from people in hi-vis vests and unmarked civilian cars.

But one evening, a lady in an unmarked Rogue (and no vest) came by and dropped off my parcel... it turned out she lives in the neighbourhood and Canada Post erroneously delivered to her house. Canada Post is still a joke sometimes, eh

Another fight in the lower mainland involving Chinese lol

MG1 07-23-2019 08:08 PM

Must be a full moon..........

There was that fight mentioned above, a stabbing in same city (Skytrain station), an incident at Stadium Skytrain station, and something going down on Lougheed, just east of Holdom Skytrain station.

I blame it on Skytrain...............
