My kids go to this place and say it's pretty good. So I went today........

Manpuku Japanese Bento in Chinatown. Cot Dam, the Curry on Rice was soooooo good. I also ordered their Chicken Karaage Bento. Just as good. Advertised as the best karaage in Vancouver (on the planet). It's definitely good, but the best? Um, pretty close. The best ever still goes to that Japanese restaurant in Winnipeg (forgot the name). Anyway, well worth the price......... even with trying to find parking and walking through Chinatown.

wanted southern bbq, went to hog shack in Steveston. disappointed. wont go again. It wasnt THAT horrible, but way too much sauce. You cant even taste the meat anymore and the pulled pork was pulled mush.

Looks like vancouver doesnt really have a super great bbq place. I guess memphis blues is the closest, but it still doesnt have that same flavor as north or south Carolina bbq.

punkwax 08-11-2019 08:12 PM

^ memphis blues is garbage as well in my experience. There really is no top spot for legit bbq in the 604 that I know of or could vouch for. If anyone could enlighten me, please do!

Badhobz 08-11-2019 08:57 PM

RIGHT!? christ, i cant find the same really good smoked bbq i had down south. That bbq is so good you dont even need any sauce. That wood smoke is permeated all throughout the meat and its still juicy as hell.

keifun 08-11-2019 09:02 PM

^ I agree. I still haven't found a great BBQ place here locally.
I tried Peckinpah in Gastown; that was ok. Much better than Memphis blues and Hog shack.

Next one for me to try out is Whiskey Six on Renfrew near PNE I hope that place doesn't disappoint .

Hondaracer 08-11-2019 09:36 PM

Whiskey six is about as good as it gets locally I’d say, they are pretty good and consistent. Small place though

Anyone have recommendations for an indoor grill? Saw one in a video that looked great for things like samgyupsal and beef that came with a plate for making yakisoba, lol. The one linked isn't that, but similar.

Zojirushi EB-DLC10 Indoor Electric Grill, Stainless Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B008ICA07A/..._ZCGuDbTSFSF4V

Looking to maybe upgrade from the standard portable gas grill + hot plate combo.

Oddly enough, Juke Fried Chicken's ribs are actually pretty good for a chicken place... Give them a try! I highly reccomend the "Juke Box" which comes with fried chicken, ribs and a side (the corn chicken fritters are amazing too).

my grass has a lot of clover and other random weeds in it, I've pulled as many by hand as possible, shit keeps coming back.

Is it too late in season for weed and feed?

nah, Landscapers will usually apply some in the fall as well, to prep it for the winter and next spring.

MG1 08-13-2019 04:56 PM

Damn, there's nothing like BBQ corn on the cob smothered with Trader Joe's Carolina Gold BBQ sauce. Peaches and Cream corn > Local Corn (known as Chilliwack, but not technically a variety).

Cooked to perfection. Burnt a bit with the sauce caramelized...........

Smoke and bones catered our wedding they are good as well. Although, do they have an actual store front/restaurant?

Is there anywhere reliable online to buy graded bolts in different types (flange, allen, etc). eBay and Amazon have listings but I don't really trust that they're really as strong as they're graded to be.

Canadabolts.ca helped me out when I needed a super weird non-capped Allen bolt for my shifter.

Wowza........ the Dude is back. And he’s better than ever. He’s been gone for two years. Back to Guelph Park.

Now in bronze. Let’s see how long he stays put without me being stolen or vandalized.

Watch video at 0:12. Looks more like dude chillin’ than the photo on the page. Celebration of sorts on Saturday. Hope there’ll be cake in that shape at the event, lol.
