Wow, Eastbrook and Still Creek now has a roundabout. WTF? C-Lai and blonde soccer moms can’t figure out a four way stop, how the hell are they going to figure out a damn roundabout? The saving grace is that it’s a three way. Plus, after rush hour and Costco is closed, it’s a breeze. I like the idea. Just need to avoid the area during peak times.

Friday the 13th in two days. A day later, it's a full moon - a Harvest Moon. Actually, being in the Wet Coast, the Harvest Moon will, indeed, fall (pun intended) on Friday at 9:33 pm.

Watching our Blue Jays play the Red Sox and commentator starts to talk about 911 ('cause you know..... today is 911). He recalls heading to Baltimore from NY and seeing smoke coming from Manhattan. He talks about Gander, Newfoundland and how they opened up their hearts and took in 7 000 travellers, as planes had to be diverted there. A town with a population of 13 000. Without a heartbeat they did what Canadians do. Help those in need. I've been to the Maritimes and I can tell you, they are the most friendliest of people. Too bad some places here, aren't like that.................

EDIT: Okay, my numbers were a bit off..........

My daughter started kindergarten last week but they're doing gradual entry - 2hrs 1 week, 3hrs 2nd week. Equals, let's fuck your work schedule up for 2 weeks. She's been in daycare for 8-9hours a day, since she was 18mos old.

Anyways, she's been complaining about it since day 1 but today she sat me down and said, "Daddy, school's not long enough. When can I start staying longer?"

It was.... beautiful :tears:

Brutal.

Chilliwack to burnaby
5am departure - 6am ish arrival

530am departure - 6:40am-7am arrival
5:40 am departure - 7:20am arrival.

That with no car accidents.

If people can keep there distance. Traffic would move so much smoother. Instead of go then hard braking. Then go. Then hard braking

Just read that YVR is going to start charging $25 for AIF in 2020 ... bring back the days when it was $10!

Half the problem regularly in traffic is that everyone seems to brake randomly. How about keeping distance and then just letting off the gas? But nope. They like to use the brake pedal like another gas pedal. As soon as one car flashes brakes, everyone flashes brakes.

Can anybody recommend an electrician to install a 240v (NEMA 14-50) outlet in the Langley area?

The outlet is just going a few inches under the breaker box and I have all the parts.

if this receptacle is for a EV charger, you will need to do a load and demand on your house prior to pulling a permit.

i am a electrical contractor.
i can do the job. send me a msg if you want.

Went to Nana’s Bakery this morning to get some awesome Euro food. I haven’t been there that often to try out everything they have, but today, for the first time, I purchased this meat pie thing. I don’t know the name of it, but it looks like a hybrid of meet pie and lasagna. It has veal inside. Definitely a must get item. They only have it on weekends and in limited amounts. Anyone here know what it’s called?

fliptuner 09-15-2019 09:42 AM

Burek?

MG1 09-15-2019 11:03 AM

Could be. I’ll have to ask next time. I always get their meat pastry. Best there is. There’s a guy at the Farmers Market that sells it. Close, but not quite.

nismodrifter 09-15-2019 12:23 PM

Fukin weather is leading to major fatigue. Find myself stuck inside on weekends vs I was doing yard work just 2 weeks ago.

Ugh.

Have had a few big ass spiders inside house too. wtf. hairy beasts.

Canadian youth pledge not to have children until politicians act on climate change

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...rike-1.5285083

Emma-Jane Burian is 17 years old and has already decided she is not having kids.

The Victoria teen is participating in Climate Strike Canada's "No Future, No Children" campaign which asks young people to pledge that they will not have children until they are sure that the federal government is taking action on climate change.

The campaign launched Monday, with 190 people having pledged as of noon PT.

"It's an expression of fear, but it's also a plea for action," Burian told The Early Edition in a phone interview, adding she took the pledge out of hope that Canadian political leaders would begin implementing climate change solutions.

'Just asking for a safe future': Thousands of B.C. students protest political inaction on climate change
"It's hard because generations past have not had to think about this," said Burian, who said her family is supportive of her plan, but that some friends think her decision "crazy".

Burian does not think her age makes her incapable of making such a choice.

"I don't think you're too young to listen to science and make decisions about that for yourself," she said.

Burian, who volunteers for the Green Party, said the group is asking federal candidates from all parties to make clear in their platforms what they are doing to reduce emissions and address climate concerns.

Burian says she wants to see politicians then acting on those promises and not just pay lip service to them.

"It's not a matter of hearing. I think we've been hearing a lot of things from different political parties … I want to start seeing the change," she said. "We have the solutions and it's about implementing those."

For Burian, the ultimatum not to bring children onto a planet she considers overheated and overcrowded is a sacrifice she is willing to make to bring about the change she wishes her elders would.

"I have the responsibility of doing it because the adults aren't adulting," said Burian. "I, for one, couldn't watch my children suffer because the government didn't take any action."

Climate Strike Canada, which mobilized hundreds of students in May to skip school and march for climate action, is a network of students and activists that is not associated with any political party. Another large-scale school strike is scheduled for Sept. 27.

Wow, dem Blue Jays are an exciting team to watch........... Hazel Mae, not so much. Anyway, I turned off the tube and went to the laundromat 'cause, they were down like 9-5 at the bottom of the 8th. I get back and find out they had a 6 run 9th inning to win it 11-10.

Right now, they is ahead 8-3 at the top of the 8th.......... Nevermind taking the series. They may sweep the Oreo's (intentional).
