Few things here
a) drink and drive is a no no.
b) Accident is accident, it's not 1st degree murder. Bad traffic accident are not necessary criminal charges worthy. It's tough for victims, but it's the truth.
c) If someone committed a crime / murder and a risk of him / her fleeing the country, country has the right to detain him or her. Low risk ones eg// parking tickets, speeding, traffic accidents are different. That's why there are warrants.

I recently killed 2 ratchets from the Stanley set I've been using for the last 10+ years and I'm torn between spending $35 to replace those 2 or $110 for a whole new 183 piece set from CT. I'm only missing 2 sockets from the set (surprisingly not the 10mm!) and I definitely don't need duplicates of all the SAE stuff I never ever use but that's not much more money for the other 183 piece. Suggestions?

MG1 10-23-2019 06:41 AM

If Stanley has a lifetime warranty, go get free replacement at the DeWalt place on 1st Ave. and Boundary Rd.

Actually, they are the place to get Craftsman tools replaced under warranty as well. I had one of those classic ratchets die on me. Went to Lowes, since they sell Craftsman, but they told me they don't do warranty. They suggested going to the DeWalt/Black & Decker repair store. That, I did.

Got a Stanley ratchet for replacement. I've regretted that move since it was the ratchet handed down to me by my father. Thankfully, I have another one. Not even going to use it or get it replaced. They don't make tools like they used to. I should have kept the other one and just taken the time to repair it. You can repair those things. That's what CT does with their Mastercraft ratchets.......... that's how often they break, lol. Anyway, not sure if Stanley is lifetime warranty or not.

This story bothers me. Yes I have gotten a DUI before (didnt crash or hurt anyone) And never again did i drink and drive.

This guy from the USA. Hits and drags this girl for blocks. Cops dont even charge him. Like WTF! The guys insurance aint gonna cover the girl either.

Next time. If i do drink and drive. Ill make sure i hit and drag someone. Canadian laws are sad

Not sure how valid this source is, but:

Hi, it’s Sergeant Aaron Roed of the Vancouver police. In regard to the car accident and pedestrian struck in Vancouver….

This is one of those things which is a tragedy and it’s life changing for everyone involved. Desiree, the female who was physically affected by the car accident as well as the driver of the vehicle. We are not releasing any names in regard to that person at this time, although, I think, it’s kind of out there on social media who’s involved and that kind of stuff. What we are able to say is this appears to be a tragic accident. She did cross between, and this is new information that’s coming out. She did cross between the van and the trailer. Why this happened? Our investigators are still looking into it, and it will be a while for us to determine why she did that, if we are able, even, to ever determine why that happened. She is no state at all, and we don’t know that she ever will be, to answer that question. It does appear at this time to be an accident and the driver would not have known how and why this happened.

We are not proceeding with charges at this time. The investigation is ongoing. When all the information is gathered, it takes a while for something like this, for our collision investigation team to gather everything, put it all together and figure out why and how this happened. We may not know. We do know that she crossed behind the van… between the van and the trailer, while it was stopped and before it started moving again. So it appears that the vehicle was waiting to turn and she crossed. You can understand, but we don’t know why. There’s a lot of speculation. Was she trying to get a bus? We don’t know. Did she even recognize the trailer was there. We don’t know. We don’t have that answer yet, and that’s the evidence we are building at this time. Family is aware of the situation, and its very emotional for them to be going through this. That’s the tough part in any investigation like this that affects people so dramatically.

I don’t believe [there were witnesses], but there is video. That’s how we know that she crossed between the van and the trailer. {And you know it was stopped?} Yes. That’s why we are saying its a tragic accident and the driver would not have known that this was occurring as they were driving. At the time there were no charges and the investigation is ongoing. We don’t believe there is going to be charges laid against him. We are still gathering information. Things could change. Right now, in this time, there’s no charges being laid.

Looks like this was part of an email, which several other reporters received. If you google "Sergeant Aaron Roed".

^heard it on the news so I think it's legit. Sad story, not sure why she stepped between van and trailer. Driver must also be traumatized.

Regardless, best wishes for the young lady.

Wasnt the driver drunk though? Shouldnt he be charged for that? I mean. I got charged for my DUI.

Investigated to see if the role of impairment comes into play - not the driver was drunk.

I risked life and limb on two fronts today. One: I drove around in Richmond. Two: I went to check out Foody World.

I haven't been there in like three years. Stopped going there when the city food inspectors shut down the place. Anyway, long story short it looks like they have yet to open that part of the store. No lunch boxes, sushi, hot food items, etc. Not even the bakery. As I walked toward the seafood area, I was hit by a wall of stench. Needless to say, I left immediately. People still shop there. Maybe they've all gone nose blind, a la Febreeze ads. Anyway, I thought this sign was pretty funny........................

I'm assuming they're not going to bother making hot food anymore. Anyone know what the scoop is on that? Not that I want food poisoning.

Where can I get access to a press? I have a warped pan I want to flatten. Could just buy a new pan but the point of this pan was so I'd stop buying/throwing out cheap pans... LOL

There's no coating, it's carbon steel. I might have to reseason it afterwards but that's easy.

what the fuck is he on about?

whitev70r 10-26-2019 02:21 PM

^ If you have to explain it, it kinda ruins the wittiness of guy's humour.

underscore 10-26-2019 03:56 PM

Ah I thought maybe those were the tweets some paper made an article about where the guy was being serious.

Why can't the commuters go on strike once in awhile? Fuckers!

whitev70r 10-29-2019 07:14 PM

He showed them!

Man tired of being low-balled by buyers crushes classic Dodge Charger
https://driving.ca/dodge/charger/aut...-dodge-charger

https://postmediadriving.files.wordp...0&h=480&crop=1

The man was allegedly asking for US$10,000 for the car, reports TireMeetsRoad.com – in a post in one group, he says he was actually asking US$8,500 before lowering it to US$5,000 – but instead of offers for around that price, he was, apparently, low-balled, visited by “tire-kickers” not interested in paying that much for the car, or, mostly, contacted by prospective buyers who just simply not show up. Insurance company Hagerty values a daily-driver condition 1970 Dodge Charger 500 with a 318 V8 at US$27,000 on average.

Craigslist should help him get rid of the boxes.
