I can remember when gas was............ less than 49 cents per.................gallon, not litres. I used to be gas jockey in high school/college. Self serve was like not around. Texaco on Burrard and 4th Ave. Used to get bonus for every quart of oil we sold. Cans. No plastic. Man, those were the days. And, as a bonus, the Canadian dollar was on par or better than USD. I'm too old, but memory is still crystal clear.

Gas has been in the 80s consistently for the past week out in Abby. Filled up at 84.9 the other day. Cheapest I've seen in Metro Vancouver is 89.9 so far.
CP dropped off a packing in front on my porch.
it's not for me, but for house couple of blocks down.
I don't want to take it there myself because as far as CP is concerned, they left it at my address, and I have no proof I gave it to right address.
I tried calling CP but currently they are not picking up due to call volume, I'm not going to spend my whole day on the phone to ask him them to pick it up.
I would rather not go to post outlet for obvious reasons and for something that has nothing to do with me.
If I just leave it there, will they eventually come pick it up?
Anyone notice a huge delay with package delivery? My packages are soooooo slooowwwwww to arrive grr
Overall not bad, in the past 2 weeks I've ordered a bunch of stuff all coming from different couriers.
Amazon - Same speed as usual
Fedex - Same speed as usual
UPS - 1st shipment (Costco 2 day shipping) took 3 but was warned ahead of time. 2nd shipment (Shotgun slugs) shipped then on the day it was supposed to arrive a message came up on the tracking saying delay due to covid, took 2 days before it resumed.
Canada Post via USPS - 2 packages shipped from Hawaii, 1st one came at normal speed, 2nd one a little slower still waiting even though both were sent at the same time

Drop it off at the correct house, take a picture of it at the door if you're worried.

Haven't seen 49.9 since the Asian financial crisis + Arco's entry into the market (1997-98). I distinctly remember before the AFC, self-serve prices of 59.9 and full-serve prices of 63.9 (they used to show both on signs in those days). My dad immigrated to the USA around the time of the 1973 embargo and would tell me stories about the oil crisis. When he first came to this country the price of gas in Vancouver (leaded) was about 35c/L, or about $1.30/gallon, and it hit 49.9 around the time of Expo.
If I had to choose between plastic oil cans and lead in gasoline, I'd pick the plastic oil cans.
I remember back when it first sounded. It was on top of the BC Hydro Building. Living in DTES, it was hard not to notice it. Went to the downtown library to hang out and it was loud when on the streets. Downtown library was on corner of Burrard and Robson back then.

Can anyone suggest restaurants offering discounts for take out right now? I know that some korean and chinese restaurants are advertising special deals on naver and wechat. I can’t read or know how to navigate those apps.
Maybe we can start a list somewhere, this would promote supporting local businesses too.
Wife and I saw the Berlin Philharmonic play Vivaldi 4 seasons in Berlin, was hands down the greatest musical performance I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen ALOT of broadway shows and live music venues. It was breathtaking

I've heard gas in Aldergrove has been as low as 79.9 though I haven't seen it lower than 84.9. Usually it is almost 10 cents cheaper at Costco in Abby, but I can't be bothered to wait or witness people's inability to adhere to lines, even at the best of times.
Just another friendly reminder to not keep anything in your car even where you live. Even if your cars live behind 3 sets of gates.
My building's parkade was hit. Both my vehicles were broken into. I kept the doors unlocked but kept the gloveboxes locked. Unfortunately, both cars had theirs pried open
This has spanned two weeks. When my first car was hit (the other one was left alone), I thought the glovebox just fell because it didn't latch & lock correctly. When my second car was hit, it was very obvious.
RCMP are currently investigating. For all I know, it's a group of thugs going from complex to complex, sneaking in through a gate that didn't close properly. Or it could be just part of the spike in crimes due to all that's going on.

I don't know why, but I've always pictured you as this tough bearded guy drinking beers... and reading this post with that picture in my head made me LOL
