^ seems to me that's the wrong approach. The petition or drive or appeal should be to the pharmaceutical companies to reduce the cost of the medication ... what the hell medication is worth $3M/year? No amount of fundraising, crowdsourcing will be enough and then you're paying these drug companies that insane obscene amount?
Drug companies has got to take their billion dollar profits and invest it into new drugs even at initial loss.
What's the logic in this kind of pharmaceutical pricing?
Yeah Imma spend billions developing this new miracle drug and then price it so high that no insurance company or government is willing to pay for it.
What am I missing?
The new drug is a one time cure for $3M, apparently the current alternative just manages symptoms. The cure is apparently "competitively" priced to be half the cost of 10 years of the management medication.
The wording of how they came up with the price disgusted me when I read it but apparently that's their logic. Unfortunately it's an American company that came up with it.

Delta Police were called to the Alex Fraser Bridge around noon July 17 for what appears to be an isolated incident involving one vehicle, a driver and passenger.
It appears the passenger of the vehicle experienced a mental health crisis while being driven northbound over the bridge, and seriously injured the driver with an edged weapon. A number of passing motorists stopped and intervened. The passenger then fled the vehicle and appears to have suffered a medical event herself.
Both the victim and suspect in this incident were taken to hospital and the suspect, the female passenger, is in police custody. A number of people assisted as events unfolded, including an off-duty paramedic who offered initial medical treatment to the victim.
Traffic in the area was significantly impacted. Thank you to the motoring public for their patience while police investigated, and for ensuring access for Emergency Health Services.
“Many members of the public may have witnessed this incident, and potentially captured it on dashcam,” says Cris Leykauf, spokesperson for Delta Police. “Anyone who has not yet spoken to police, or who may have dashcam is asked to contact the non-emergency line at Delta Police at 604-946-4411. We’d also like to thank those who stopped to offer assistance.”
“We recognize that this incident may have been quite traumatic for those who witnessed it. Victims Services is being offered to those who police are in contact with, but recognizing that this was a complicated scene, we would like to make it known that this service is available,” says Leykauf.
Did you know – Anyone who is experiencing a mental health crisis, can call the BC Crisis Centre 24/7 at 1-800-784-2433. Online chat for youth or adults is also available noon to 1 am at www.YouthInBC.com or www.CrisisCentreChat.ca.
So passenger went cray cray and stabbed the driver...I was headed northbound when I saw an ambulance screaming down southbound to Delta, I assume the passenger jumped the median after she ran out and got hit by a car.
Stay healthy - physically and mentally - everyone. Christ.
