I have never bought anything from Amazon.
(She said smugly, sitting on her high horse, with a chip on her shoulder.)

I used to buy a bit from them, but after hearing all the horror stories (and having a few of my own) I ditched them. Overpaying just to get it a couple days faster wasn't worth it either.

SSM_DC5 11-10-2020 11:50 AM

Any one turn a car wheel into a hose hanger or reel? Easy to do? Worth the effort?

Obsideon 11-10-2020 03:06 PM

I actually stayed away from Amazon for a very long time, I was probably one of the last people I knew that didn't at least buy a couple items off there. It wasn't until the pandemic that I signed up for Prime and haven't looked back since. Customer service is amazing too. Returns are super easy with Canada Post just down the block as well.

best fitness tracker wearable? (yes, need music)

MG1 11-13-2020 02:19 PM

It’s almost that time of year............ 103.5 QMFM will become. Vancouver’s christmas station. I’m not a christian - couldn’t be farther from being one. But, I love that music. Non-Secular music does something to the soul. Just Saiyan. Gonna bump that thread as soon as QM goes all XMas.

god bless.............

Hondaracer 11-13-2020 03:05 PM

I’m thinking I’m gonna put up my Xmas lights next weekend just to try and bring a sliver of joy to ppl waking by if nothing else

StylinRed 11-13-2020 03:10 PM

Neighbours put theirs up the day after Halloween :lol one guy just switched the lights and put santa hats on his zombies initially, but the zombies are gone now :lol

MG1 11-13-2020 03:14 PM

Cot Dam! I had the radio on all afternoon. Go inside to take a leak. Come back and it’s on!!!!!

The right time to Rock the Night Away...............

I’m so happy right now. All of 2020 is not that bad, afterall

punkwax 11-13-2020 03:32 PM

I had a receptionist kill Christmas music for me.. 6 weeks straight of non-stop Christmas music for 8-9 years in a row. Only time we got a break was when she was sick or away. :ohgodwhy:

I’m not bah humbug about it and wouldn’t ask someone to turn it off but I’d never choose to listen to it if given an option :lol

underscore 11-13-2020 04:52 PM

Christmas music was tolerable back when it was only played close to Christmas. Working retail and listening to bad covers of poorly written songs for 2 months straight made me loathe it with a passion.

MG1 11-13-2020 05:09 PM

Well, it must be working for them to keep doing it year after year........

I wAnder if the Christmas channels are on sirius XM. Things to look forward to. The Christmas channels and the Billy Joel channel on Sirius XM.

mikemhg 11-13-2020 05:14 PM

Christmas music before the middle of November? Come on now...That'll grow old as hell in a few weeks.

Pretty much only listen to Christmas music a few days before Christmas and the day of, then it's over.

underscore 11-13-2020 06:02 PM

On the radio it makes sense, if people want to listen to it in their homes and cars then have at er. I'm not sure what genre you dislike the most, but having to listen to it all day at work and then in every store you go to for 1/6 of the year is unpleasant and just going to make you dislike it even more.

MG1 11-13-2020 06:19 PM

Driving with Xmas music blasting is heaven, lol.

Other times of the year, It's Italian Opera/Arias. Yeah, not normal dude here. Never the kind to care what others think.

Bagpipes............ hmmmm......... might start doing that. Just to bug the hell out of everyone else.

Hehe 11-13-2020 07:29 PM

Christmas has become too "commercial" for lack of a better word.

It used to be something for family to gather around, to share stories and joy as the year end.

Now... whenever I see Costco/Walmart/CT... etc to put Xmas stuff right after summer, it makes me puke.

And having gone through a really "religious" school growing up, I don't mind xmas music really. I'd often hum along with it.

That's why........... I, too have gone through a really "religious" school. It's called public schools in the 50's.

Bible reading, lord's prayer every morning. That's probably why I'm a bit of an Empire Loyalist. Pictures of Queen Elizabeth II above the front entryway of the school. Her coronation was in 1953, but it took a while for the famous portrait to be distributed to the schools. And the Union Jack - pre Maple Leaf Ensign.

Anyway, jesus and christianity is part of our history, it seems.

Jesus loves me—this I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to him belong,—
They are weak, but he is strong.

Jesus loves me—loves me still,
Though I'm very weak and ill;
From his shining throne on high,
Comes to watch me where I lie.

Jesus loves me—he will stay,
Close beside me all the way.
Then his little child will take,
Up to heaven for his dear sake.

Yeah, stuck in my head forever, 'cause it was drilled into us. Funny thing was, it didn't work, as far as I was concerned. Just like when they tried to get me to be right handed when I was left handed. Thanks to them, I'm ambidextrous. It was what it was.

I used to love confusing people with the music I had cranked in my car. I still do, but I used to too. I found a CD from an Indian wedding in a limo once and used to get some very odd looks playing that one.

I’m with MG1, I love it when 103.5 turns into Vancouver’s Christmas radio station. My mood immediately improved this late afternoon when I found out they had flipped the switch. Only problem is that mid-November is a bit too early. I think they started doing this last year. By the time Christmas actually hit, I was sick of it unfortunately. In previous years, they would start on Dec 1 and for 25 days in duration, that was perfect, in my opinion.

Jmac 11-13-2020 11:01 PM

Haven't worked in retail in 9 years and Christmas music still triggers me.

This made me LOL

Still remember working at EBgames as a kid on Christmas Eve and having a guy grab me by my tie and try to choke me out because we had sold his copy of a game he pre-ordered because he didn't pick it up within 48hrs of us calling him so we (or I, apparently) had ruined his kids Christmas :lawl:

I wonder how beaten and messed up his kids are today :fullofwin:

Well, it does beat listening to News 1130. Now that has been depressing at times. Once in a while, they come up with an obscure funny story, but Xmas music > Shitty news. I just hope they don't play too many songs over and over again. I only listen to radio when I'm driving. Plus, it's a choice. No gun pointed at my head saying I have to tune into 103.5.

when you mail a parcel, does the type of packaging used alter the shipping costs?
for example, if i want to mail something that's 9" x 2" x 2" and i choose to mail it in a box, envelope, or shipping tube, does that matter? from what i used to understand it's the weight that makes the biggest difference
