So many idiots these days. I am selling my stuff (brand new sealed in box) on Craigslist/FB, with lower price than buying in store. Yet people still asking to discount it even further. Got tired of seeing these messages, I just tell them to buy in store since it's "cheaper" to troll back LOL. E.g. Store would cost them $30, I'm asking $20, "could you please do $10".......

People like to haggle. That's part of the appeal for many people. You should have asked for $25-$30 and then negotiate to $20.

Jmac 01-01-2021 10:09 PM

I've pretty much gotten to the point of setting the asking price 25% higher than the price I had in mind and basically taking the first offer that's in between. Of course, I seldom sell anything to strangers and usually sell it to someone I know for well below what it's worth. Just so much easier and it usually works both ways in my circle.

but asa buyer wouldn’t you just pay a bit more and taxes to reduce covid risk, not worry about coordinating schedules/flakes and most importantly the flexibility of returns?

donk. 01-01-2021 11:18 PM

Saving 10$ > Covid

Some people like to hunt and haggle for a good deal.

yray 01-02-2021 02:59 PM

craigslist man... high ball sell price, low ball seller, meet in middle

racerman88 01-02-2021 06:13 PM

This last topic of haggling reminds me of Russell Peters skit of Asians and South Asians shopping

ok, so Amazon gave me a credit card and they made it my default card for payment. lmao.

mikemhg 01-03-2021 10:45 AM

South Asians are the most amusing when selling something on FB/CL.

Selling a brand new North Face Jacket, get a msg from Sunil "Would you like to trade the jacket for this used Zara jacket?".

No Sunil, I would not :lol

Gotta love it though.

StylinRed 01-03-2021 11:05 AM

It's not just craigslist, I sold a Christmas gift I got on ebay, still unopened, bnib (I know I know :lol) allowed offers to be made, and even though I put it up for $100 below retail + free shipping, I still got several ppl trying to lowball

Lol. Or "please lower the price. It's for my kids"

acrophobia 01-03-2021 03:41 PM

You guys have better luck than me! I find the vast majority agree to a price, arrange a time to pickup, and then no-show. Get an excuse, arrange another time, no-show. Move to next in line and the same. Over and over again. Maybe an Okanagan thing?

If you don't link it like this tho, what's the point of using their cc? You get 5% CB on Amazon for the promo period; 2.5% after.

Anyone had an amazon package stolen from their front of their house? Do you have to file a police report before reporting to Amazon?

Thanks

Depends on the value. If it's a small amount, Amazon will usually just offer to send you a replacement when you contact Live Chat.

In my experience just tell amazon, their reaction is based on your purchase history with them, they'll either send you out a replacement or ask you to wait it out, I've had them do that for items costing a few hundred.

But they really shouldn't be leaving expensive items at your doorstep tho, they do, but it's crazy

I actually just had two very expensive items delivered by amazon, I was worried it'd get stolen, so I tried to be here to accept the package, they sent me the notification that it was delivered, no photo this time, and they made a note that they placed it in my hand!

But I got nothing! Freaked me out, I contacted amazon and they asked if I could wait and see if it shows up (wtf)

Fortunately it was delivered to a nearby neighbour who left it on my doorstep later that night, they didn't even knock, so if I didn't happen to go out for a late night walk, I wouldn't have known

Hondaracer 01-04-2021 07:36 AM

You should also watch how the item is received on their end.

I’ve had drivers put that the item was “handed to recipient” but it was obviously just tossed at the front door as I have security cameras looking at the door. Was going to contact Amazon and let them know the driver was marking it as such but couldn’t be bothered

nismodrifter 01-04-2021 08:36 AM

any stores that have a large variety of massage chairs that I can sit in and try out?

looking to buy ASAP.

SSM_DC5 01-04-2021 01:34 PM

Any have their bathtub refinished before? I want to change colours to white.

Had it happen when amazon was delivering 3 separate packages in the same day and all 3 got stolen after the 3rd guy delivered it BabyRage

They sent me replacements pretty much as soon as I messaged them on live chat. Didn't ask for a police report but I filled one out anyways

punkwax 01-04-2021 02:52 PM

I’ve had multiple packages intended for neighbours delivered to my house since the pandemic began. Everyone is quite pleased when I go and deliver them to the correct home afterward. Especially the chick who had her Beats delivered to my door.

Most streets in my subdivision start with the same two words so I can see why it happens fairly often..

I got used and abused when shopping in those underground behind-the-wall shopping centres in China lmao ... me being the naive CBC. There was no price tags on anything, you ask the boss lady and she just yells a price.

Me: (using broken ass mandarin trying to sound as local as possible) How much for this belt?
Her: For you good looking boy, only 30
Me: What? Too much laaaa, $15!
Her: I can't, 20?
Me: DEAL!

My female friend walks in 30 seconds later who is from Shanghai.
Friend: I want this belt
Boss Lady: Ok for you 20 (wtf?!)
Friend: Nah bye
Boss Lady: WAIT! Here take it for $12
Friend: Nah, $10
Boss: fine

Me:

It's only happened to me once, but it was a pretty big box, luckily it was just the block behind me and not too heavy.
The name on it was Russian I was secretly hoping it would be a super hot chick opening the door but reality was a stoner looking dude lol
