I think they're carpet beetles:

need some suggestions on how to secure my window mount cat perch better.
the manufacturer supplied suction cups but they failed several times, and so i tried using self adhesive hanging hooks instead to sling the webbing from the perch onto. that worked for a while, then failed as well.
the bigger cat weighs 12lbs but since they hop on and off it all the time, there is a slightly higher requirement for weight than that. it's the adhesive that is failing not the hook itself.
what would be a semi permanent solution for this?
i thought about putting 4 hooks instead of 2 to equalize the weight, or putting a wider strip of adhesive film on the area then glueing the backing of the hooks to it... any better ideas that i'm not thinking about?
doesn't help that those command hooks only come in 7.5lbs max.
there are plenty of similar hooks on amazon that advertise heavier weights, but its amazon and there is so much falsely advertised junk on there..

might help folks if there's pics of the product you're trying to mount, and where near the window? near it, on the sill, moulding...what type of window for that matter.

in my mind to support decent weight i'm picturing anchoring a product like a floating shelf like mounting a heavy picture frame. drywall screws or anchors of sorts but don't know how close you're getting to the window.

Any orthodontist recommendations in Vancouver/Burnaby?

GLOW 04-29-2021 01:02 PM

it's been a while but i'd suggest:

Spoiler!

it's something very similar to this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Hammock-Perche...9810697&sr=8-6

so the top suctions are not holding, and the regular adhesive hooks failed as well, but lasted several months.

maybe just superglue the flat metal backing of the hook to the glass? that's the only thing i can think of, but just worried that removing it later will be difficult.

Rode in a new crv today and the auto stop/start at traffic lights is annoying. The vibrations feel like stalling time and then more vibrations when starting back up.
The cvt transmission noises are so loud too.

Do all auto start/stop feel like that? And are all cvt's noisy in general?

I drive peasant cars with no features so this was a new (and unpleasant) experience.

Hondaracer 04-30-2021 01:18 PM

I have a 2020 Ford transit with the feature, hate it.

I feel like it’s actually borderline dangerous for things like turning left at an intersection etc because mine has quite a delay/shudder when it starts back up. No way for me to permanently disable it either as it’s a fleet vehicle

whitev70r 04-30-2021 03:08 PM

Can't you turn that function off?

StylinRed 04-30-2021 03:28 PM

All Auto stop/start feels like that and it's horrible

Should be able to turn it off tho, at least with some cars

Obsideon 04-30-2021 05:09 PM

All cars will have the feature to disable it with a button. But only some cars can have it permanently disabled. Some will always be on when you turn off and on the car again which resets the cycle.

Maybe look into some heavy duty suction cups like this? https://www.amazon.ca/CONBOLA-Suctio...%2C278&sr=8-12

So I bought my wife one of those Aluminum/Polycarbonate 4x8' Greenhouses for her birthday in Feb (She's been going on about greenhouses for years now).

She's already outgrown this one:

Although I had to expropriate some space for myself :D

RiceIntegraRS 05-03-2021 12:03 PM

How much did that cost u? my wifes birthday is coming up and she would probably love this

Great68 05-03-2021 12:19 PM

Between $500-600 shipped to our door.

It's normally meant to be stuck into the ground, but I built an elevated deck for it out of leftover cedar I had from my fence (So probably another $100 worth of wood).

Hondaracer 05-03-2021 12:24 PM

Costco sells a very nice one similar to that for about $650 I believe. My parents bought it a couple years back and it’s great for the price

yray 05-03-2021 01:18 PM

wheres the weed?

Great68 05-03-2021 01:37 PM

They're in there ;-) Gotta look for them

Bill and Melinda Gates calling it quits. Melinda wasn't supportive of vaccine tracking in humans ... or, Bill looking at Bezo and thinking ... I can do this too.

Came across this on Reddit: https://public.tableau.com/profile/i...sengerVehicles

The breakdown of registered vehicles in BC is searchable by model, year and municipality. You can see how unique your car is or isn't, or where you want to hunt for a unicorn :haha:

There are only 20 IS300 Sportcrosses and 19 ITR's province-wide.

underscore 05-05-2021 10:39 AM

There's 25 amphibious vehicles :lol

Something's screwy though, because I personally know of more AWD Celicas around here than it lists.

coneZONE 05-06-2021 07:14 PM

Wow, that's cool. I guess I own 1/29, 1997 Integra Anniv. Edition

My aunt has a range rover and the system itself isn't bad, I've driven her car before. If it actually saves gas, I would totally use it and I wouldn't mind it.

The problem is, there is no way to permanently turn it off, you have to manually turn it off every engine start.

She also had two faulty batteries in four years. I did some digging and it may be because of the start stop system putting too much stress on the battery? Not sure if it's actually because of the stop start, but to have two batteries go in four years seems odd.

lilaznviper 05-09-2021 09:34 PM

the problem is it is a range rover

friend works there and they always have cars coming back in for warranty on electrical issues. Pretty much if you buy a ranger rover, get ready for it to be in the shop majority of the time.

PeanutButter 05-10-2021 08:49 AM

^I think most people who buy a RR know that. But, she's told me how many people comment on her car and she low key LOVES it.

She told me the other day, she had to drive this lady from church to an appointment and the lady told her it was her dream to sit in a Range Rover because that was her dream car.

That statement is one of the reasons people buy the cars they do. I guess i'm spoiled because all my friends and family seem to have a "luxury" car, so the wowness factor just isn't there for me anymore.
