So the bad area in my dad's vegetable garden still remains a dead plot of land. I think we'll leave it as is for the rest of the season and figure out what to do with it after.
Meanwhile we've taken out some of the pepper plants and planted them in containers. Decided to dip my toes in gardening and I now have a small garden of vegetables grown in grow pots now - peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, and bitter melons.
Waking up every day to check on the progress of my vegetables has been very rewarding.
One question for my gardening friends.. when I water my plants, I notice the soil moves quite a bit. I'm thinking of putting some cedar mulch to help deal with this and to keep temperatures a bit more stable with the blazing heat.
Any recommendations? There are tons of different type of mulch.

Cedar bark chips are quite acidic
It doesn’t look the greatest but rice hulls from brewing stores are my go to for mulch. They are about as benign as could be and provide good coverage

Another gardening related question.
I have five bell pepper plants ranging from 7 to 11 inches tall.
These are all starting to show little green buds with some that have already flowered with a tiny bell pepper fruit. These buds are all near the top of the stem if it matters.
Two images - https://imgur.com/a/70kZr2o
I keep reading that I should be pruning the first couple rounds of buds off so that my plant will continue to grow taller otherwise their height growth will be stunted as energy will be primarily redirected to the fruit.
Thoughts? I am not sure the standard growing season in Vancouver and if I remove these buds if there will still be time for more peppers to fully grow.

So my cousin got a lotto max ticket from his aunt for his birthday and he hit 6/7 numbers and it's worth about $3k (surprisingly not very much for hitting 6 numbers...).
The aunt is now asking for half of the winnings.
This is crazy, right? or is there some unwritten rule that if you give a lotto/scratch ticket you are entitled to half?
My cousins mom is telling him to just give her sister half because she doesn't want any bad blood, but my cousin doesn't want to, he said he would give her a couple hundred. He's 45 if that makes a difference.
Kind of a weird situation.

Lol, your cousin's first mistake was telling people he won.
In my personal opinion, your aunt is wrong. Just because she bought a winning ticket doesn't mean she is entitled to half. I think it's nice of your cousin to give her a portion of it as it is.
But at 45 years old (I thought he was much younger at first), $1500 should not be significant enough to his net worth to have bad blood with someone over. It'd be a lot different if he won the 70 million and she wanted half of that.

Indian Giver.
Oh…………. Can’t say that. Someone might get offended.
Why would the aunt want any money? If she’s that kind of an aunt, just give her back half and have nothing to do with her from that point on. If it were me, I’d just give all the money back to prove a point.
If someone gave me a winning ticket, I’d automatically give them a cut as a thanks. But when the person who gave the ticket asks for some money, that’s not cool, in my books.

Being greedy is one thing, but actually asking for half the winnings, she has no shame whatsoever. Wow.
Also $1500 can be a lot of money for someone whether they're 45 or 25 or 15. Come on. |

tell everyone you're donating it to a good cause cause it's not worth having family fight over the money. see what she's got to say after that.

She bought your cousin the ticket for birthday (it's a gift for birthday). Would the hell would ask for half the gift back, then why the fuck did she buy the gift (ticket) in the first place if she has no intent to sincerely giving it to your cousin?
Just take the entire winnings and just buy the whole family gifts, then she can't bitch about the money.

Give her half of what the ticket cost. Stupid cunt.
If I gave someone a ticket that won $3k, I'd be happy for them. If they offered to take me out for drinks, or dinner, that'd be a sufficient sign of gratitude.
It's sad that she shows her true colours over 1500 bucks.

My mom and his dad are siblings. The aunt is from his mother's side, which I don't really know that well. From what I remember, she seemed like a nice lady.
I guess it depends, $3k doesn't seem like much, but to some people it's significant. My cousin doesn't have a crazy job or anything. I think he makes $50k and has a family, so i'm sure $3k would help him out. I think the aunt is in her 60's and she's still working and i'm pretty sure she makes less than $50k a year.
So I think it's a significant amount for both. It's just a weird situation to be in because I think they both could use the money. It takes some gall to ask for half though, but I don't really know everyone's situation.

It's weird to ask for half, but if I'd won, I'd give half of whatever I got... However if they demanded (not ask) before I gave anything, I'd be like fuck u! but if they asked politely I'd say "ya sure bud/of course"

Buy a new lotto ticket that was the same value and pick the same numbers and circle them as if you had already done so. Wrinkle it up a bit to make it look used and abused. Show it to them and tell everyone its not worth the fight for 3k and rip it up. If he's lucky she'll see the numbers on the shredded pieces and say fuck it.
Have a very trusted friend cash in the actual ticket for 100$

Asking 1/2 is just quite rude, I would tell them to fuck right off.

Aside from Craigslist and Facebook marketplace, what are some other sites that sell stuff?
Had my truck broken in and they took everything they could along with the dashcam to hide their tracks. Its a garmin gps/dash cam all in one. Was wondering if I could eventually find it online.
Worrisome that the gps has a bunch of saved preset address is in so i can tell it to go home/parents/work/etc and now whoever has it knows where all my family and gfs family live and where we work and all that jazz.
So yeah. Craigslist, market place, ??

But more likely than not, they'd sell it on a flea market or random pop up places on the street.

It was a GIFT, if I bought my cousin a Nintendo and 30 years later he sold the original Mario Bros cartridge for $5000 I ain't gonna be chasing him for half the money. That is ludacris.
I've seen some tight-knit families torn apart over money, it's a sad reality.
I have a friend who's parents siblings were super close, hanging out and going to meals multiple times a week. When the grandmother got older they started squabbling over who cares for her, or how the expenses were going to be split.
"Oh she spoiled you the most so you pay a bigger share"
"I saw her the least so I'll pay the least"
"you saw her the least so you SHOULD pay more, we put in physical time to care for her"
You really see the true colours of some people.

I can't seem to find my original Atari game console and games............. got lost in one of the moves.
