They're probably holding your package because it hasn't been cleared by CBSA. You can clear it yourself by going to the YVR CBSA Post Office. UPS will have to provide you with the slip. You'll pay a fraction of the cost that UPS is charging you.

It's a scam in a sense where UPS can clear the package, just that they charge a fee for it to do the work. Depending on the value of the item, most of the time it's easier/less hassle to just pay the fee. If the declared value is low, I normally just call UPS to waive off the fee. E.g. $50 declared value and they wanna ding me like $20 bucks.

StylinRed 07-16-2021 01:52 PM

Brokerage fee has been limited by the govt, so ups/fedex/etc can only charge like 10.95 I believe it is

But because of covid they shy away from taking payment at your door, (fedex still does) ups/dhl gets u to prepay

Heard a noise getting louder and louder, walked on my deck and they were just flying about to pass my building. Looked like they were following fraser hwy

I knew one of the pilots and his family. He was part of the team in the 80's. Lived in Bradner. Man, he was such a cool guy. Even keel and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Gotta have nerves of steel to do that kind of flying. Anyway, anyone planning on attending this year's Abbotsford Skydrive?

^ what ... the first time they tried, it didn't go over well. No publicity about it this time.

It’ll be interesting to see how the drive-in style show works.

Regardless, seeing the F-22 in person is something else.

Missed the flyby but I did see the snowbirds land together at YVR.

Well I have the tracking and it's coming from Vegas.
Says "Cleared Customs" the next day.
And the day after, in Oregon now.

Hasn't landed in Canada yet.

How do I get a slip?

Going to have to get it from UPS. Tell them you'll clear it yourself.

Is this a scam or do I have to pay it? Will my item will never get delivered if I don't pay? What's the best way to deal with this?

It’s always UPS or DHL that pisses me off with this. I usually self-clear the package myself by emailing them to send the documents to me and I’ll print it off, go to the CBSA office on Miller road, get them to stamp the documents and pay whatever duties you owe then drive over to the UPS facility and pick up the package yourself with the documents in hand. The fees associated with duties is a lot cheaper than the brokerage and duty fee that UPS would charge you altogether.

So my package will still be delivered even if I don't pay online first?
So when it arrives at my door, do I just decline. Then get the documents done myself and then pick it up at the UPS facility?

StylinRed 07-17-2021 02:33 AM

Ups/dhl won't bring it to your door anymore unless it's paid for

At least in my experience since covid, and I've had a lot of international shipments

I havenÂ’t declined the package arriving at my door because they call me first before that happens. They call you and say thereÂ’s fees needing to be paid with your package and if you want to go ahead with it, I usually decline and tell them I will self-clear the package myself.

Great meeting you Chris!

Any plumbers in here?

My toilet got clogged and when I try to plunge it, the flapper valve in the tank gets pushed open from the pressure and then more water just gets dumped into the toilet bowl.

I've unclogged toilets many times with a plunger before and I'm not even sure if the flapper valve is supposed to get pushed open like this. I'm seeing dirty water from the toilet bowl getting pushed into the toilet tank because of the flapper opening up every time I pump with the plunger.

I turned off the water supply line and I'm plunging and the water in the bowl seems to not want to drain in even the slightest bit. I'm not sure if something is broken or if the toilet is seriously jammed up. wtf.

MG1 07-21-2021 06:29 AM

Snake it. Or, if that doesn't work, try this monster.

https://www.homedepot.ca/product/rid...ead/1000179506

I've only had to use it once and the toilet, I kid you not, unclogged itself. Almost like the contraption scared it "shitless." I did use it afterward to make sure the pipes were totally unclogged. The auger is awkward to use. There are other less bulky augers out there.

Sometimes all it takes is time. The flap thing is pretty nasty, though. You must have really clogged up pipes. You shit bricks? Did you say you had kids?

GLOW 07-21-2021 07:53 AM

that auger is sweet, had a plumber use that once and did the trick, another time he had to get the industrial auger as it was a bigger problem with roots.

AzNightmare 07-21-2021 09:54 AM

I gave it another try about an hour later. I assume the water eventually broke it down and I was able to unclog it.

Although having the flap pushed open while plunging was something new that I've never experienced before. Cause while I was plunging, it pushed it open which is like flushing the toilet again, so more water unexpectedly just came into the bowl and overflooded it. fck.. Next time to play it safe, I should just cut the water supply first.

I'm wondering if something is broken. I'm not an expert, but I don't think that's supposed to happen??

lol, maybe it's genetics or diet or something. Been having brick shits since I was a kid. Combine this with modern eco flush toilets and things don't go well. I'm not sure what brand TP I'm currently using, but they feel like it's 5 ply or something. Way thicker than necessary. I should probably not buy this kind again. I would love to have an airplane toilet though.

MG1 07-21-2021 05:04 PM

I always wanted to know how to get those commercial power flush toilets. I’m talking about the ones that look like they can flush a small kid into the depths of hell. Make regular toilets sound like a chihuahua as opposed to the sound of a lion’s roar.
