Police said some members of his family and restaurant staff witnessed his death.

I don't usually follow tennis but WOW, this Canadian girl Leylah Fernandez came out of nowhere! She's now knocked off Osaka (#3), Svitolina (#5) and just now she beat Sabalenka (World #2) to get into the finals! What a run! She just turned 19 last week!

MG1 09-09-2021 06:11 PM

Move over Bianca......... there's a new girl in town. I like this Leylah girl. Feisty, she is. Got what it takes mentally, emotionally and most importantly, does it with heart. What a cutie.

Canada has a lot going on, eh? In all kinds of sports. Soccer, golf, Olympics, Paralympics, baseball, basketball, ............ oh yeah, hockey, too.

whitev70r 09-09-2021 07:15 PM

I really hope they don't burn this one out ... I dunno what it is with Canadian ladies rising tennis stars. We don't have a very good track record. Eugenie Bouchard, Bianca Andreescu, ....

Does anyone do insurance here or can recommend/refer a broker? I think our quote for duplex insurance seems high? our 50% portion = 3,900 × 50% = $1,950.

Car Trunk Sale tomorrow at Bill Copeland, for those who are into garage sales and whatnot. I haven't found anything useful for years. With the pandemic and shit, it might be a bust. Nevertheless, I'll be going. Five minutes walk around is all it takes.

Does Mission Raceway do something similar? I recall going to one once.

I've had good rates with Square One for my condo... way cheaper than other places

She lost to the 18 yo ... who I think was just of a phenom but don't know why Leyla got all the attention.

68style 09-11-2021 03:12 PM

^ Cuz you live in Canada and she's Canadian? Of course the media you see is biased toward her haha

Cuz leylah beat big names?

I normally watch foreign news channels (France 24, DW, CNA, etc) and they were all talking about her

And that's the only reason I can come up with :lol

"Climate Lockdowns: New CO2 monitoring credit card enables tracking of ‘carbon footprint on every purchase’ – ‘Monitors & cuts off spending when we hit our carbon max’ – Mastercard & UN join forces"

why does this feel wrong to me.

lol, asking for a friend (actually am).

If you're involved in a (pretty big) single car accident, do you have to make a claim?
If you can do the repairs yourself privately, does it just come out of your own pocket?
Trying to not have the car written off. It looks borderline like it could or maybe not. Hard to say at this point.

SSM_DC5 09-21-2021 10:42 AM

To sum it up,

Option 1) fix car yourself, don't tell icbc.
Option 2) tell icbc, fix car using insurance policy, insurance rates go up.
Option 3) tell icbc, they total it, you can't fix it yourself and lose the car.

How much is the car worth? If it's worth 100k, then yeah go claim it.

If it's only worth a few k, might be worth it to just junk it and buy another one.

No, you don't need to make a claim.

If you repair it privately, yes you pay for the entire fix. That being said, body shops are usually negotiable when ICBC isn't involved, and some places will do cash deals.

The only way the car is "written off" is if ICBC is involved. No claim, and ICBC won't know.

What's the car, and what was the accident?

donk. 09-21-2021 03:21 PM

The best part about DIY repairs, is you dont decrease the value of the car with a Rebuilt title, or even an accident claim.

:troll::derp:

So is it a gamble between option 2 or 3?
or do you get to go back to option 1 if you don't like option 3?

It's a Fiesta ST, not worth a whole lot. But given the mods, some fairly recent, I'm sure he'll want to try his best to save it.

Option 2 and 3 are the same (aka going through ICBC), they just have different outcomes.

If you go with option 2/3, you get one of those outcomes. No do overs.

So if they say 3, that is all ICBC will do. No going back to choosing 2. Very much a gamble.

RiceIntegraRS 09-21-2021 10:24 PM

A bodyshop can tell ur friend if ICBC will write it off or not just by doing there quick estimate. Theres some shops out there that will under estimate ur vehicle if u want it saved from being totalled. Thats if its on the line of being written off or repaired.

TOS'd 09-22-2021 05:50 AM

I thought option 2 you still have your own choice to either go with icbc to fix it or pay for it out of pocket yourself /do nothing about it and not have your insurance rate go up.

This is an option (or at least it used to be), but you have to tell the bodyshop outright in the beginning or they assume you want to go through ICBC.

I'm sick and tired of getting hit with a duty charge which I have to pay while Canada Post holds my stuff hostage. why should there be duty when it's not sold in Canada? bullshit.

ImportPsycho 09-23-2021 08:45 PM

K ... question ... wondering why the coyotes in Stanley Park don't chomp on those juicy geese that are everywhere and making a huge shitty mess instead, they are biting little boys and girls??? Anyone know?

I was reading this as a joke while back. Coyotes vs Canada Geese, who would win in a fight? I think the coyotes know those geese aren't chumps.
