I watched the video so how does scam work? It looks like:

1. Fake company sends girl an etransfer of ~ $3K
2. Then she buys office equipment & notebook (how? To Staples, Bestbuy, or computer store?),
3. Then she finds out her etransfer from fraud company bounced.
4. Office equipment store doesn't honour her order because she didn't have balance to cover?

So how does original fake company/scammer benefit from that?

No.

1. Fake company sends girl a CHEQUE for ~$3K, she deposits.
2. Fake company tells girls to "buy" equipment from a specified office supplier site, which is set up by fake company to look legitimate, and pay for the equipment using the money she deposited.
3. Girl buys equipment from fake site, using her own money.
4. Cheque bounces, there is no equipment coming, and she sent fake office supplier site money already.
5. Cries to media for being stupid.

I'm not always sure of the age groups of people on this forum, I started on here when I was like 23 or something and now I'm 40+........... but I have noticed amongst my coworkers who are in this girl's age group that they seem to have the idea in their head that everyone is inherently good and that people like me are judging and hurting society when I warn them that not everyone has good intentions.

I expect to see a lot more of this type of stuff :)

I'm sure naivete played a role here, but in my mind it's just people not knowing what's happening around them, or even things like banks holding cheques for 5 business days until it clears.

She said she saw the amount in her account, but I say that's BS. It may have showed the deposit amount on her statement but there's no way the funds were accessible until it cleared - some banks provide a "buffer" for cheques for immediate access but that's usually a low amount like ~$500 and they make it pretty clear you're on the hook if you're overdrawn.

In this day of ATM's and Phone Deposits. Entirely possible that they just saw "deposited" and assumed it was all good.
Having worked in retail banking for a good number of years, its unfortunately most often the age groups at the extreme spectrums that either have no insight into how banking actually works and how to protect yourself... or think they know how banking/the world works and continually shoot themselves in the foot.

Do Openroad sales have access to other brands?

Ie. Can an Openroad Toyota sales order a Civic
Can an Openroad Honda sales rep order a Tiguan?

I know it was possible when it was Richmond Acura vs. Richmond Honda back then. But not sure about Openroad.

I respect her even more for publicizing it. And potentially stopping others from falling for it.

68style 11-18-2021 10:04 PM

Pretty sure she only went to the media to get her $ back, not help others

whitev70r 11-19-2021 07:57 AM

One senior I know got scammed over $100K in an online dating scam. She felt super dumb and she knew she couldn't get money back but went on CTV to warn others. So there are some with altruistic motives.

Hondaracer 11-19-2021 08:13 AM

I don’t know how many people have to go to the news to say they for unverified money, from an unverified source, and spent said money only to find it wasn’t legit, to “teach” people about their mistakes lol

68style 11-19-2021 08:14 AM

Yah sure I can see that for the online dating scam, there's no one to try and go back on... most of this video was focused on shitty bank policies being the blame instead of her being stupid though... easy decision for TD to pay $3,500 for that story to go away

My understanding of OpenRoad, is yes*.

Your salesguy will have a friend salesguy in the other dealer and they split commission, etc. So Fred at openroadVW can't order a Civic directly, but he can ask Bob at openroadHonda to help, etc.

But then...why wouldn't you just go to the right dealership? You can always ask for sales rep references.

Rittenhouse found not guilty. How can America be such a shithole?

whitev70r 11-19-2021 10:57 AM

nvm ...

68style 11-19-2021 11:14 AM

There's no riot, he's white and he killed white people.

And no I'm not saying that's unfair... it's just a fact. Anti-"stand your ground" people aren't the rioting type.

I hope the NRA is proud to have that bumbling fumbling shit-stain of a momma's boy as their posterchild for street justice.

Bouncing Bettys 11-19-2021 11:16 AM

Not that it had any bearing on upholding the right to self defense, but it would be interesting to see the reaction of the jurors when they learn the criminal histories of Kyle's attackers, especially convicted pedophile Rosenbaum.

68style 11-19-2021 11:20 AM

That's a really fucking stupid thing to say honestly.

Did Rittenhouse have a satellite relaying google searches on everyone he looked at that night to determine who was more worth shooting than anyone else? The jurors are going to be like "Oh okay yah good that confirms our verdict, one of them was a piece of shit anyway I'm glad he's dead"?!

Fuck man... seriously? You've said some smh stuff before but this takes the cake.

Bouncing Bettys 11-19-2021 11:22 AM

I said it had no bearing on the matter.

Didn't it? You're conjecturing that it was more okay for him to shoot at least 1 of them because, as it turns out, that person had a sucky past. That this knowledge somehow solidifies the jury's decision.

Sad...

Same dude who argues against liberal cancel culture right? Things in your past shouldn't be held against you? Fucking hyprocrite.

Bouncing Bettys 11-19-2021 11:32 AM

Not at all. I am talking about the jury now, after the trial, learning what reprehensible pieces of shit his attackers were, and maybe even explain why, they felt so bold.

A sucky past? Keep downplaying child rape. It's a good look.

68style 11-19-2021 11:37 AM

Nice attempt to construe my post asshole. Fuck you for even saying I favour anyone who was a child rapist. You want to take this to PM and arrange a time to say that to my face I welcome it you piece of shit.

Apparently you can't separate the issues in your own mind. If they have any reaction at all, it's beside the point because even if they DID know during the trial, it should have zero bearing whatsoever on their decision.

So many people that are thanking the justice system for prevailing on the side this fucking incel piece of shit are the same people that dig up George Floyd’s past saying he deserved die anyways.
People only get a fair trial if they align with your political motives and in so many other cases, if they are part of the white brotherhood these people are a part of.
Yeah the victims were white, but they were at a BLM riot, so they aren’t part of the klan these people identify with. Yes I spelled Klan correctly if you’re questioning it.

Hondaracer 11-19-2021 01:45 PM

If by the letter of the law, he’s innocent, then he’s innocent and you can say justice prevailed. Opinions and feelings shouldn’t come into factor. He’s obviously a peice of shit but if the way the laws are written say he’s innocent, he shouldn’t be found guilty over public opinion.

I didn’t think there was any chance he’d not get convicted of at least 1 charge, I even lost $100 bet over it. Crazy
