Karma bitch!

i thought the protesters were on the west side of the island like by port renfrew.

is this the highway to the ferry from victoria?
i don't see a reason for blocking a highway when protesting on the side will do.

I'm guessing I'll have to pay the logistics company, fill out a customs form and pay taxes and any applicable duties, then pick it up?

Just an update. I used PCB at the recommendation of inv4zn.

They were easy to work with and my goods made it to Vancouver without an issue.

Does anyone have a valid rock auto discount code they aren’t using that I could use?

underscore 06-14-2022 02:02 PM

They're unlimited use so you should be able to snag one through one of those coupon sites.

Haha... feeling dumb, should delete later... thinking of too many things at once, thanks!

Walk in wait times are available online for passport offices across the country.

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passpo...#table1caption

Example: passport office in downtown Vancouver, Sinclair Centre.

Walk in wait time: 6 hours 45 minutes as of now. :lawl:

OriginalJC 06-16-2022 11:53 AM

I had to renew my son's passport a few weeks back. I just made it a dailey routine to scan the local passport appointment times for 4 days, and was able to get a mid-afternoon appointment for the next day. Was in and out of the Abbotsford office in 5 minutes. The looks I got from the folks that had clearly been waiting for hours

underscore 06-16-2022 12:53 PM

They closed the passport office here at some point in the last few years. It went from being able to get one quick, to having to mail it in and wait like we used to. That was a bit of a shock when I tried to renew quickly last month for work.

whitev70r 06-16-2022 01:09 PM

Just heard nightmare stories of families who booked flights and planned well ahead for passport renewal through the mail ... as the date of travel got closer, nothing ... panic, line up all day for rush approval.

Hondaracer 06-16-2022 01:33 PM

Wtf is with people lol like ffs.. you people just let your shit expire and scramble last minute to renew? Lol

It’s no wonder airports are such a shit show when people don’t do the bare minimum prep lol

StylinRed 06-16-2022 01:48 PM

I forgot my passport was expiring this year, and when I found out it was already a shitshow kind of :lol (the pp offices were closed, so I found it to be a hassle) so I thought I'd wait a month or so for everything to get back to normal and for the initial rush to die down, but it looks like it's just been getting worse!

At least I got an appointment for the end of the month

I was there Tuesday morning! Got there at 4:50am and I started lining up right next to the right turn arrow painted on the ground. Waited 6 hours to get my application submitted! Will be going back in 2 weeks to pickup the passport, but at least I have an appointment for pickup...

underscore 06-16-2022 04:09 PM

In my case it expired Dec 2020, between COVID and my wife being 8 months pregnant I couldn't care less about it at the time because I wasn't going to need it for a while. We used to be able to get them in 2 days no problem, so I figured letting it expire was a non-issue.

SkinnyPupp 06-16-2022 04:47 PM

Maybe 10 years ago I got a new passport in Japan without setting foot in an office.. I sent in the form, photos, paid the fee, and they mailed it back. And then 5 years later in Hong Kong I had to go in to get one... Is that a new policy?

Hondaracer 06-16-2022 05:17 PM

Depends on whether it’s expired or not I believe

StylinRed 06-16-2022 10:32 PM

I just got an email saying someone requested my appointment be cancelled and it was cancelled.... Wtf

Maybe someone was real desperate on RS, saw that you had one, and cxl it so that they can sneak into your spot ... :lol

Man, if you have an appointment, you can probably sell it and get a full tank of gas. People be hiring students to stand in line for them. For 6+ hours, that's gotta be > $100.

If someone else can request your appointment to be cancelled, having an appointment now seems meaningless!

68style 06-17-2022 09:28 AM

Maybe you got the same name as someone else and they just yes yes yes’d the details

StylinRed 06-17-2022 10:42 AM

I tried calling to have it reinstated, couldn't even get through wtf

I've got another appointment, but it's in Victoria at the end of July ffs

ImportPsycho 06-17-2022 12:11 PM

it's been while since my last renew,
why do they need to go to the passport office? to pick up? interview?
