There was also that video of the homeless dude throwing a tank at cars in Steveston, lol. | Looked like something straight out of a cartoon or movie I was just as shocked it wasn't instant death but no way he's living a normal life if he lives. Wish him the best though.

Seeing the bamboo/rattan scaffolding method in HK ... which for some reason has worked for hundreds of year ... sometimes you wonder why accidents aren't more common!

But like Winson said, straight out of a cartoon | It landed directly on one dancer from head to toe and then tipped over and onto at least one more dancer's lower body.

But like Winson said, straight out of a cartoon | If you dare to look, there are closeups of it happening. Dude got absolutely flattened. Apparently he's alive and responsive, but totally paralyzed. I'm shocked he's alive at all, but yeah either way, his dancing days are over.

the incident is very scary.
I've said many times to many people that after the ridiculous protest, Mirror, the boy band was able to bring people together whether you like it or not. They represent Hong Kong, whether you like it or not.
God bless the dancer dude.

Don't know about buntzen, but if your looking for an alternative, all the below is for sasamat / white pine lake
If you are up early enough on a weekend, you can roll the dice and just drive in, I would suggest showing up at 7am, by 730 / 8am, you risk the lot being full.
If you want a table, they are very limited, suggest showing up pre 7am
There is no reservations for weekdays, I could not find reservations for weekends either
If you go on weekdays, you can get in by 9am, and parking will still be available

Ever wonder why they have to pray to the gods before starting a job?
Because there is no one but the god watching them when they start working.
Talked to people who gigs in the live event industry in Hong Kong. Zero safety mindset, zero regulation and codes to follow
The dancers on this mirror show complainted of dangerous working condition and there were several equipment-related incidents in the previous days leading up to this devastating incident.
those LED panels weigh close to 1000 pounds. all rig on two-points in the corner. No weight distribution bar at all. All while spinning on a grid.
Total amateur job. Unacceptable for a place that had such a developed entertainment industry bringing in the amount of money they do.

Ive seen bamboo construction when I was in HK like 5 years ago, do new builds still use bamboo as scaffolding?
I can only imagine the cost to buy in HK if they followed Vancouver regulations.....

I can only imagine the cost to buy in HK if they followed Vancouver regulations..... | I don't think it's the cost of material that is preventing safety standards from being standardized. Rather labor cost. Specific to this incident and industry. Hong kong still employs people to fix issues/make changes on the fly in the air during an event, rather than spent the extra money to make sure everything is double prep during setup.
Hong Kong labor-related industry tends to still think throwing more bodies at the problem is the solution. It's always been a problem.
Can't see this improving now with China as el capitan. Interestingly this incident happened to a Hong Kong band know known to not be ccp friendly.

I think if they weren't ccp friendly, they wouldn't have been doing shows in a government venue
Maybe they just keep their mouths shut though, which for now is friendly enough I guess

Ferry questions for you guys.
I prebooked for the afternoon, if I show up and try to catch an earlier sailing, is there any difference in cost? I assume that if i tried for an earlier sailing, I just get treated like a standby and might not get on.

What do you mean pre-booked? Yah mean you made a reservation?
The reservation only applies to a small period of time before the sailing you reserved for and that’s it.

Last week I had a 3PM reso and missed the 2PM by 15-20 cars. They’ll try to get you on. If you don’t make the earlier one, you’ll make the next sailing you’ve booked.

Anyone have experience renting a disposal bin? Recall there was an RS member that operated some kind of junk removal company but not sure who and what the company name was.

Waste Connections is buying everyone, I think GFL is the only other one in the LM. But you'll likely need an account, and unless you already have an established relationship (ie. you've spent money there) you'll be waiting for a long time to get one.
Lots of private junk removal companies though.
What are you tossing and how much of it?

What are you tossing and how much of it? | Preemptively planning for now, but the family home of 30 years needs to be cleared out over the next few months. Will sell/donate/recycle what we can, but at a certain point it's much easier to just dump it into a big ass bin and call it a day, lol.
