If you are on T-mobile in the US say goodbye to dead zones with your cell phone.

At this point it's really a back up comm system.
2 to 4 mbps for the entire cell, not per user. In any populated area, you're only going to be able to send sms messages. Forget phone calls unless you're one of a handful of users in that cell.

Which credit card offer gas discount?

I use Chevron as I'm tuned on 94 gas, journie rewards/cibc. I'm trying to find out other gas stations because I don't drive my car much. Usually use the wife daily, we fill up whichever station we see the cheapest. I saw Petro Canada if you link your RBC credit card it offers 3c discount.

TOS'd 08-27-2022 09:08 AM

PC Optimum Mastercard has discounts of up to 30pts/L at Esso and Mobil. So 3cents off effectively but in the form of PC Optimum points (Loblaw group including Shoppers Drug Mart, RCSS, etc).

More info: https://gas.pcfinancial.ca/english

Petro gives you 3 cents off with a RBC card that's linked to your Petro points card. you also get 20% more petro points. Every 1000 points is worth a dollar.

Go to a private liquor store. They are not effected.

Depends on what product you're buying.

Domestic products which have their own direct distribution channels (IE domestic beers/wines) aren't affected, but Private liquor stores still have to buy the majority of their imported/hard liquors and specialty wines/beers from the LDB warehouse and those products are definitely affected.

King James (Lebron) is in town. Socials are blowing up. Apparently he even went to Landmark hot pot on Cambie, which I found interesting.

Am in the States for the first time in nearly 4 years (Seattle) and it blows my mind that people tolerate the quality of the roads here and Seattle isn't even considered bad. I haven't driven on a single road in Seattle that is the quality of the average Vancouver road. Where are the tax dollars going besides funding invasions into foreign countries?

Answered your own question. Also they are probably paying for those Mar a lago stays for 2017-2021

Just saw an elderly lady in suburban Richmond walking her owl.

It was perched on her arm, as she was walking, to be specific.

Why is everyone's first reaction to being honked at negative? I was driving down Granville earlier and noticed a car with the passenger mirror folded in. As a concerned citizen, I tried getting the driver's attention (middle aged caucasian woman) by waving out my window at her. Had to give a little honk to try and get her attention, her immediate response was the middle finger. And then I start tapping my driver side mirror out the window and pointing at her passenger side mirror which was folded into the car(it was a car that I don't believe had power mirrors). After seeing that, she then waved/said thank you.

He was at the Kendrick concert last night with his wife. Crowd went nuts chanting MVP.

if you honk, people go straight to fuck you! :fullofwin:

this woman in richmond made a right turn, accidently honked her horn, and i instantly gave her the finger. I think its a trigger mechanism nowadays.

Don't all their road tax dollars go toward their freeways? I mean I-5 has no equal in BC. Plus there's the 405, I-90 and a bunch of minor state highways some as wide as Highway 1.

Not sure how they prioritize I5, but it's been a long time widely known that US Infrastructure generally is a shitshow to the point Biden has a $65 billion non-partisan bill to address this: https://www.whitehouse.gov/bipartisa...structure-law/

CivicBlues 08-30-2022 10:29 AM

Yeah they've got so much to maintain because they've got so much shit. Any US city has a multiple factors of freeway infrastructure that any similar-sized Canadian city would never even dream of.

WSDOT freeways are generally held to high standard, much higher than anything we have in BC or most of Canada save for perhaps Ontario. Other states like Oregon don't seem to be as high-standard, and California has so much old shit I can't imagine they don't have things collapsing left and right.

Their city streets though, I concur, are shitty.

What standards are we talking about? Cause I5 has been total trash as long as I've been alive (46 years) - it's the worst highway in terms of road surface conditions (coarse gravel or poorly maintained concrete or beat up asphalt) and the signage is marginal as are the curbs. The only decent stretch I've driven on (and I've driven down to Sacramento and back) is just south of Bellingham where it's new asphalt. Everything else is earplug city and get ready for a rough ride.

Driving around Seattle today my wife randomly remarks, "Has Seattle always been this trashy?" - it's really sad that pretty much every American city is a trashy cousin to Canada. Poorly maintained infrastructure, housing that's beat up (people can't afford to maintain it), and the whole place smells like dried piss.

westopher 08-30-2022 08:18 PM

I5 is definitely a world worse than any roads in BC. It’s like a fucking 14 lane logging road. Any trip to seattle I see at least 5 accidents within 10km (or one fucking hour) of dt.
As for Seattle being trashy….. have you been to Vancouver recently?

On SR 420 or 520 or X20, one section says bumpy road. IT WAS NO ROAD
