Lately, I've noticed AB GOV running radio advertisements trying to get BC people to move to AB...
What would be the breaking point to make me want to move to Texas, I mean Alberta.....
$2.3/L gas is pushing it closer and closer...

westopher 09-29-2022 12:50 PM

I mean, it’s a buck 80 there too. The housing is where the difference is. I always struggle with the thought of going back, but is my 3000sq ft house in an arctic tundra going to make me happier than my 700 square foot shoebox a few blocks from the ocean and 20 minutes from the lifts?
That’s how I rationalize it anyways.

EvoFire 09-29-2022 01:16 PM

I heard the radio ads for Alberta.

Other than maybe paying half the price for a similar house - therefore reducing my mortgage by about 60%, I don't know if there's anything real reason for me to leave Vancouver.

Yes I can buy a nicer car, but what's the point if I can really drive it for half the year?
Both our parents are in Vancouver, and when push comes to shove they can take the kids for a day. No fallback for us to be in Alberta.
Chinese food sucks there.

Yeah I want a 911 GT3, but being "stuck" in a M3 in Vancouver hardly is end of the world :lol

underscore 09-29-2022 02:33 PM

I could never willingly move to Alberta, I'd have to be pretty desperate. Even at the west edge of Calgary I'd have twice as long of a drive to a ski hill with worse snow conditions, a much longer drive to any sort of outdoor activities, zero interesting roads to drive on, worse weather, and no family. Also as a general rule I don't eat sushi that's more than a days drive from the ocean :lol. No thanks.

And that's not even getting into the politics or the people. Granted I spent most of my time in Alberta in tiny towns at oil plants and the people in most small towns are like this but the number of obnoxious and ignorant assholes is astounding.

whitev70r 09-29-2022 03:47 PM

Healthcare in AB not any better

Teen's 'nightmare' hospital wait a symptom of Alberta's health-care breakdown, doctors warn

MG1 09-29-2022 04:25 PM

Not even the homeless want to go there...............

That's what we need to do. Convince them to move to Alberta. Give them free one way ticket, hee hee, hue hue, pew pew...........

We have plenty of assholes here, more than our share, but over there, it's on a whole new level. I know a few who have come here over the last few decades and wow. Just wow.

People from everywhere else is no problem. Even quebecois........... wish more Maritimers moved here. They are really great folks. Just can't understand them worth a lick.

Anyway, just my two bits.

Eyeing that new buffet lol. Riverrock one has gone downhill since returning from covid times I hear.

I went today.......... not impressed at all. The place was smaller than I thought. No special event things. Free cookie (horrible) and a pen. All the prizes and hot seat draws did not happen. Seemed like the people there had no idea what was going on. Too many chiefs and not enough indians, so to speak.

The soft opening/sneak peek never happened. Kept getting "sorry" emails after the initial invite.

As yray would say, "It's a lie and waste of time."

punkwax 09-29-2022 05:10 PM

They had challenges opening on time which is probably why.. I can’t share specifics but know of a key reason why they almost didn’t make it in time for opening.

Nothing health or safety related toward the public FWIW..

Microsoft Flight simulator just released a free Canada update and finally some Canadian cities are now photo realistic. I snapped some quick screenshots of our beautiful city and ITS GLORIOUS!!! to be able to fly through our city, recognize landmarks, and literally land in front of your own house is a dream come true for me.

I'm not sure how many of you watch poker but this was pretty crazy last night, kind of turned the poker world upside down the way it played out and what happened after.

Coles notes:

- She made a crazy bad call with Jack high, even if he's bluffing she's often losing.
- Garrett who lost the hand called her out for cheating not understanding how she could ever call there.
- Garrett is considered one of the best NL Holdem Cash game players in the world and mostly is considered one of the nice guys in poker so this entire thing going off the rails the way it did is weird.
- She ended up giving him the money back 15 minutes later, she say's it was to make it not awkward because he was over reacting to losing, he say's it's because she cheated. I'm not sure if she cheated or is too dumb to realize this makes it look like she did cheat.
- Poker community is taking one or the other side, honestly I don't know how she could have cheated here but that doesn't mean she didn't. Me personally looking at it if she was going to cheat in this game why this spot, doesn't make sense being around 50/50.

MG1 09-30-2022 10:31 AM

I don't watch poker at all, but gave you thanks for the clip................... I tried to watch the cards. Honestly.

fliptuner 09-30-2022 10:48 AM

Wow. I watch HCL highlights on YouTube every night, except I've been working up in PG all week and haven't kept up.

She's made a few questionable hero calls, from what I've seen, but there's literally no call there. Even after the turn, there's no reason to be in the hand.

Watched it live on HCL, Garrett was absolutely PUZZLED afterwards. Her comment about if the 3's were good was interesting and probably misread her hand.

Gerbs 09-30-2022 11:24 AM

I'd never thought I'd see a cross post between Poker and Revscene haha. I'd be equally as baffled by Garrett especially with what happened with the Postle scandal. She has at best 50% equity specifically against low flush draws and 76s. Absolutely crushed and drawing dead against anything else. She has also won some tournaments in the past via pokerhendonmob so it's very likely she got signaled she had the best hand but she was probably newbie enough to not realize how obvious it would look.

mikemhg 09-30-2022 12:56 PM

Poker players are such bitches.

It's her hand, she can do whatever she wants. If it's a stupid move, it's a stupid move, sometimes Poker is blind luck, why is it an automatic assumption she's cheating?

I used to be a lead in an online gaming company and we'd hold these Poker tournaments with all these big name dudes. They were all egotistical assholes for the most part, complete whiney bitches.

underscore 09-30-2022 01:51 PM

So from the sounds of it she made a "stupid" move, then won, so people assume she must be cheating? I don't follow poker and I barely know how to play it but generally if what you did causes you to win it's not that stupid a move. If everyone always made the exact same plays it would be even less interesting.

mikemhg 09-30-2022 01:58 PM

^Exactly.

I'm sure her being a pretty chick with big tits certainly doesn't help her cause.

A lot of these pro Poker dudes give off hardcore incel vibes.

underscore 09-30-2022 02:36 PM

That's hardly surprising seeing as it's a bunch of dudes sitting around a table playing a card game for hours and hours. Basically a much simpler version of Magic The Gathering lol.

Badhobz 09-30-2022 02:49 PM

tap 3 land to cast fireball !!!
lousy giant tits plasticky cheating ass bitch

god i love incels. hilarious

mikemhg 09-30-2022 03:10 PM

Dude these guys were hilarious in person too. I akin them to D&D or 40K tourney champions - delusions of grandeur in their little esoteric worlds.

We'd hold parties for these guys all bellied up in baggy jeans with disheveled collared shirts, baseball caps and sunglasses on, strutting around like they were rock stars :lol

Paid models would be brought in to entertain them, to make them feel cool. Needless to say they were gone the minute the event was over.

It was all very funny to observe.

SkinnyPupp 09-30-2022 03:38 PM

Here's a video on it (pardon the shitty title graphic), I haven't watched the whole thing yet but 2 minutes in I found out she's dating another guy at the table who is also Jake Paul's manager

So totally on the up and up right?

Good video to watch if you don't know anything about poker. Because if you don't all these poker terms, you might not realize that she doesn't either and why her explanation was so bad, and this guy explains that too. (this doesn't mean she's cheating)

SkinnyPupp 09-30-2022 03:49 PM

This actually reminds me of the one time I ever played mahjong IRL.. I'd been playing it online for years, and when a friend found out I knew how to play, he invited me and some other friends for some games.. No stakes or anything

He got SO MAD by the end of it. According to him I was making all these dumb moves and ruining the game, but I was winning so I had no idea what the problem was. Whatever lol

I wonder if this is a case like that, where she basically doesn't know what she doesn't know, and ended up winning because of it. According to that video, she only started playing high stakes games like a month ago.

Anyone else enjoy going to casinos, sitting down at a blackjack table, and hitting when your not supposed to, and not hitting when you should?
I love watching all the old people left and right start tweaking and rage quitting the table.

RiceIntegraRS 09-30-2022 04:31 PM

I havent played poker in a long time but i used to play alot back in the day. So heres my take, i think they already eliminated the fact that shes not just some dumb poker player that just got extremely lucky. Cause they would have lots of footage of her doing dumb and suspect plays of this session alone, which is why everyone is screaming that shes cheating.

U dont make a play like this like ever, unless ur getting intel from someone at the table. Shes not pot commited, shes not drawing to a better hand, her hand isnt even a bluff catcher. Thats why this video is going viral in the poker world.
