This is pretty big global news. In Brazil, Bolsonaro lost as Lula (who lost to him 4 yrs ago), wins election. Lula won by 50.9% ... talk about a slim margin! Apparently, one of the issues at stake was the protection of the Amazon Rainforest which would have serious climate change consequences.

I, like many, are pretty NAcentric. Didn't realize how significant this election was/is.

I have some Brazilian friends, all of whom were required to go and vote even though they are living here in YVR. He explained that it's part of his citizenship requirement ... whatever you might think of that, I think there is merit. If anyone wants democracy, then do your duty and vote dammit! i know, I know ... that is irony, we want freedom which includes the freedom of not to vote.
