Offices are all closed and it's speculated that half the company has quit, lol.

It was funny reading the other day how he wanted to cut non-essential services, and it turns out one of them was for MFA.

It's fucking high comedy that Elon is worried about people sabotaging his company, when he's been doing such a great job of it himself already

This twitter thing deserves it's own thread

-more government money for B.C. residents as per Premier David Eby's announcement. Well, it's something from our government in order to help consumers cope with high inflation.

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/1...-hydro-credit/

David Eby is announcing cost-of-living relief measures as his first order of business as B.C.’s new premier.

The province says British Columbians will get a one-time cost of living credit on their BC Hydro bill this fall, as well as a new BC Affordability Credit in January, to help offset some expenses.

“People and small businesses across B.C. are feeling the squeeze of global inflation,” Eby said Friday, the same day he was sworn in as the province’s 37th premier. “It’s a time when people need their government to continue to be there for them. That’s why we’re focused on helping people most impacted by the rising costs we’re seeing around the world – giving people a bit of extra credit, especially at a time of year when expenses can be quick to add up.

The BC Hydro credit will be available to all eligible residential and commercial customers, including those who get their power indirectly from the provider through FortisBC or a municipal utility.

The Ministry of Energy says eligible people will receive a $100 credit, while eligible businesses will receive a credit averaging $500.

The BC Affordability Credit will be distributed through the CRA, with the province saying a family of four could receive up to an additional $410 in January. The amounts are dependent on a family or person’s annual salary.

“Look for B.C.’s new Affordability Credit in your bank account in January 2023,” said Eby. “We know it won’t cover all the bills, but we hope the little bit extra helps folks out this winter.”

Trump is allowed back onto Twitter. I missed him so much.

whitev70r 11-19-2022 05:53 PM

^ That will just quicken the death of Twitter

westopher 11-19-2022 06:01 PM

Twitter is going to be the new Parler. Exactly what musk wanted, but with the caveat that’s it’s going to end up as irrelevant as parler.

I don't think Twitter is worth 44B. But if you think the richest person on Earth, who made EV viable and land rockets after sending stuff to Space submitted an offer to buy it out without first planning out what to do once he does take over, you have to be delusional. Even if Musk is too optimistic or whatever, do you think all the investors behind Twitter takeover would have gone in with all that investment without doing some serious DD on whatever Elon proposed?

He had said that he was going to buy Twitter and copy WeChat. If he achieves to do just 30% of what WeChat is to Chinese to the rest of the world, he can easily make back the 44B he and the consortiums paid for Twitter.

westopher 11-19-2022 08:49 PM

Yeah or you could just look at what’s happening instead.

The Elon dickriders are exactly who you think they will be, every time lol

Trump coming back is a potentially great thing because whatever happens with twitter will probably go even faster, with Elon selling it to someone for pennies on the dollar, and we can be done with both of them forever LUL

They are entertaining, but obviously Trump is highly dangerous

GLOW 11-20-2022 10:51 AM

does this leave the door open for another company to come forth to take twitter's place once mainstream/influencer/sponsors start leaving b/c it's a dumpster fire, or will the medium / use change - eg. more use of tiktok, IG, WeChat, etc

This is flawed logic. Terrible investments are made by 'smart money' all the time. I mean look no further than FTX right now? The amount of top VC funds, hedge funds, pension funds that got duped into buying into this scam should tell you that "serious DD" means jack when your judgement is clouded by biases. Theranos, Enron, Wirecard, list can go on

mikemhg 11-20-2022 01:02 PM

I have a feeling Twitter will be resold eventually.

Microsoft seems like a prime candidate to purchase them when all is said and done here.

They have the infrastructure and ecosystem to fit Twitter perfectly under their umbrella.

Badhobz 11-20-2022 03:51 PM

I hope they don’t merge twitter into this “teams” mess if they do take it over. I’m so sick of using MS teams.

what do you not like about teams?

twitter would be an interesting addition to them, going from MSN messenger to acquiring skype, then on to twitter... :considered:

Most likely will just be sold for a fraction of what he paid for it.

But I see quite a few people talking about signing up with Hive, at least to reserve their username. "just in case" Elon goes full Trump and just blows it up in a tantrum instead of salvaging some of the money he wasted.

There's no Windows version so it's a whatever for me.

MarkyMark 11-20-2022 06:39 PM

Is this what happens when people have so much money they don't know what to do with it?
