As for being 'not allowed' to play Superman anymore, James Gunn is basically rebuilding the DC Universe from scratch and is writing a script for a younger Superman movie so it's not a role that's made for him.

Right it's just one side of the story, but I thought it was interesting to share. Saying that he left the show because it's not faithful to the Video Games, and to be Superman full time (when he was on a a per appearance deal) is obviously also one sided... He's made comments about women that he's had to apologize for, so it wouldn't be totally out of character.

Obviously the Superman rerereboot wasn't planned when they had him shooting cameos for Black Adam and Flash. So now he lost two big roles in a row, but he's getting a chance at redemption with his Warhammer stuff

It does read as very one sided, especially when there were lots of reports that he's a fan of the source content and wanted to stay true to it while the showrunners heavily disliked it and wanted to change everything. Which is naturally going to cause lots of conflict.

I'm definitely not going to start hating on someone because of a tweet of a partial screenshot of a podcast of an interview with an unnamed person.

mikemhg 12-17-2022 12:14 PM

I agree it's definitely one-sided there.

I love The Witcher and the showrunner turned the show into another girl-boss travesty. The last season barely had Geralt even in it. No, I don't want to watch a full season of Yennifer running around with no powers.

I sound redpill but something has to be said about these female directors coming in and wrecking established characters, it's a problem in multiple franchises.

bobbinka 12-17-2022 12:53 PM

Maybe while they're at it, they can also re-cast Yennifer and Triss. You know what, just reboot the damn thing.

Warner Bros had a recent change in leadership and the new guys wanna make a younger superman

Also iirc when Cavill was complaining about the writing of the show, the director basically said "fine you do it" so he directed an episode that was praised? At least that's what I hear ppl saying

Did it bring you to gamer gate? If you really want to see what's going on, and why certain people seem to like all the same things (Elon, Jordan Peterson, Trump, video Games, etc) check that out!

no 1st thing that came up was urban dictionary definition

now i had to google that to make sure it was what i recall it was, i thought it was a reporter overhearing banter at a convention of a team of devs (one of which was also female) and posted it online, but wiki seems document it as a deep rooted harassment thing involving doxing and threats, etc

I knew about Children's med shortage but I didn't know there is adult cold/flu med shortage... I went to Walmart and Shoppers Drug, both were completely out of stock...
Not even store brands... This Shoppers Drug filled up empty shelve with different products... which means they know they are not getting new shipment anytime soon...
wtf....

Euro7r 12-22-2022 09:59 AM

^ I ran into exact same thing yesterday. Went to nearest shoppers and save on foods near my place, not a lick of Tylenol cold medication. Good thing I still had some advil lying around at home to help with my fever.

Half the people I know are sick.

Costco had full stock of dayquil/nyquil about 4 days ago, so try there.

Pill form cold meds are also sporadically available, just need to roam around. Try the lesser known pharmacies like Rexall, and sometimes the bigger gas stations have them too.

This year is brutal for colds and flus.

The talk is that since we've pivoted off masks everyone hasn't been able to build up their immunity to the cold bugs running around this year, thus allowing the bug to spread itself easier, creating some pretty nasty respiratory issues this season.

I can attest to that, I never get colds and I've gotten two in the span of a month here, very bizarre.

They're saying at VGH this year has been the worst they've seen in while for cold/flus.

lilaznviper 12-22-2022 11:53 AM

if you go to shoppers, you can ask the pharmasist for the drug. sometimes they have it in the back to prevent people from hoarding them.

I wonder if it's because so many people have had covid in the past, and it fucks with their ability to recover?

Anecdotally, my wife's sister who lives with us came home fom Korea with a really bad cold. We were all ready to get it, but somehow none of us got it. She's still barely over it after like 2 weeks! She's had covid before (again, traveling lol), but we haven't

Hondaracer 12-22-2022 02:40 PM

I’m sure it’s moreso everyone wearing masks full time for 2 years and never being exposed to germs and viruses.

pastarocket 12-22-2022 02:41 PM

Damn, this is really cold weather in the state of Wyoming. Bomb cyclone hits a large part of the U.S.

-from CNN:

Casper, Wyoming

(Mountain time)

In less than 18 hours, from 7:40 a.m. Wednesday to 1:35 a.m. Thursday, the temperature dropped 70 degrees.

7:40 a.m. Wednesday: 28 degrees.

8 a.m. Wednesday: 3 degrees.

Casper dropped 25 degrees in just 20 minutes Wednesday.

1:35 a.m. Thursday: minus 42 degrees

6:00 a.m. Thursday: minus 35 degrees with a wind chill of minus 76 degrees.

Minus 76 Fahrenheit is Minus 60 C.

Apparently it could be due to COVID’s impact on T-cells.

This year I haven't been wearing a mask much, pretty loosely at times. Maybe once every 10 times I'd put it on. Long and behold, merry Christmas, caught fucking Covid. Been sick since Wednesday, today feeling the brute of it, throat is super fucking sore that I don't even want to talk. All the symptoms of a cold/flu, but feels like I got hit by a train zapping all my energy.

Any tax accountants on RS?

Can I claim/submit a donation to a non-Canadian/US-based charitable organization against my tax return and be eligible for some kind of refund? Edit: Donation is made in US dollars. Can one convert the claim/submission to Canadian dollars?

Can provide more context if required. Thanks in advance!

whitev70r 12-28-2022 08:19 AM

not a tax accountant ... but agency that you are donating to has to have a Canadian address/office.

... tax accountants correct me if I'm wrong.

bcrdukes 12-28-2022 08:23 AM

Thanks for that.

Charitable organization does not have a Canadian address or office as it is US-based. I haven't made the donation yet as I am trying to get as much information as possible before I move forward (or not!) with the donation.
