^ only exception or provision is if you make US income, then you can and get tax relief by donating to US charity. I assumed yours was a simple situation and that wasn't the case. |
Unfortunately, no. No US income in this situation. Backstory/context to this is I am looking to enroll into a course that is offered by a US charitable organization and the only way to do this is to make a donation in return for membership which then allows enrollment/access to their educational programs. Given that we have only a few more days before the end of 2022, I'm looking to see how to maximize this opportunity (if at all possible) to claim the donation against my tax return for 2022. So far it doesn't seem feasible which is okay. |
|
Ah, perfect. Thanks for this. Based on the link and the information shared, it appears my donation (if you will) does not qualify as it is a US-based charitable organization with no ties to Canada or an address in Canada, nor do I earn US-based income. For anyone curious, the charity in question is the Horological Society of New York. They offer educational classes on watchmaking at a highly subsidized rate for members. Members get priority access to their classes throughout the year and often have traveling courses offered by their partners. This is purely a hobby of mine and nothing more. Their membership (aka donation) tiers start at $100 USD, $500 USD, and $1000, each coming with their own range of benefits and goodies. My intention was to donate as much as I could to take advantage of any tax refunds in 2022 while having the ability to register for their classes, and reap any benefit of goodies they offer. |
Since unused donation credits gets carried forward, you can buy some dividend paying U.S. stocks so you can apply that U.S. donation credit in a future tax return. |
So when my car was stowed under its cover looks like someone either put somthing on it or shoveled snow off it and put a few njce gouges in the paint.. https://i.imgur.com/oanuWlZ.jpg What’s the best way to take care of this? Can I just buy touch up paint or do I have to seal that with a clear etc. ? Don’t really care about the gouges that much I just don’t want it to peal and rust |
touch up paint from the dealer, then you gotta sand it down, then touch it up again, then sand it down, then touch it AGAIN. :QQ: Fuck whoever gouged your car. Bastards. |

Larry from AMMO NYC did a video, albeit for small chips. He recommended mixing touch up paint with clear coat and doing it that way. |
Anyone deal with tenant insurance before? Tenant's shower is leaking into unit below in a condo. Unit below is owned by an individual who noticed water damage on ceiling and walls. Owner of unit above is contacted to cover expenses to fix leak and damage to lower unit. Strata said they won't get involved because it is between the two units to sort it out. Reason for leak is unknown but likely seeping to unit below via shower base (possibly via old/cracked caulking or grout). Part of the damaged ceiling of the unit below was cut out (has to be cut out anyways to get repaired) and looking in the ceiling cavity to see if the cause was a pipe leak, but the source of the water was not located (after multiple attempts of running water and waiting over the course of a few days). Who covers the cost if going through insurance and whos insurance is it (the owner of the unit above or the tenant of the unit above)? |
Likely to be the owner, unless there's proof the tenant was negligent. |
Tell upstairs tenant to file a claim. Noone knows if he flooded the shitter, or spilled a bucket of water in the bathroom. People love to deny when it comes to money coming out of their own pocket From my personal experience of dealing with dozens of leak calls Ps. If there is an additional floor above, the leak may very well have came from higher up. /Flooded shitter / etc |

If strata doesn't get involved, what happens when upstairs tenant ghosts because they think it's common pipe related? Fix first then bill later? |
there's at least one shitty dog owner (no pun intended) that doesn't pick up after their dog shits on the grass in front of my house. given all the snow & rain it's not going to dry out so i can pick it up, and it's a doozy of a soggy shit. is there a product, or do i just pour vinegar or something to get rid of it? i'm not going to pick up mush as it's gross, at the same time i don't want to pour something toxic that would hurt any animals |
i think it would just turn into compost and ultimately be beneficial to your yard. I know my backyard is full of doggie pee (i pickup the pooh) and its healthier than ever  |
https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/1...-share-safety/ Guy rents a mini van off turo to take 8 people to whistler and concern only arises as his friend notices every warning light on the dash on? Lol |
Turo sucks balls, hate that company. Rented from them quite a few times in LA and it's gotten so misleading just like AirBnB has (saying you have the "entire place" when you don't, etc.) Last time in April this year, the car provider told me they can't pick up from LAX anymore like before (this is true) but they told me the car was a free bus ride away from the airport... it was NOT... I had to take a cab for like $25 to an empty industrial park with a technical college in it and I could see the car in the parking lot but couldn't find the renter... didn't want to activate my data because it would burn a day... but eventually had to and she was messaging me wondering where I was and had decided to go eat dinner with her boyfriend because she couldn't get a hold of me. Well no shit I was late, my flight was delayed and I couldn't get to the place where the car was by bus like she claimed unless I dragged my suitcases 1.5 miles. At least she was a super hot russian girl who could have been a professional model though... and she felt bad when I returned the car and drove me to the terminal for my departing flight. She told me her and her bf lease like 15 cars now and rent them on Turo and pay the college to park them in their empty parking lot and operate out of there. So shady. |
What are the final prices like when renting from turo? The above story def sounds like a buddy guy write off specialist just rebuilding cars and renting them out lol |
so I went from Telus 20gig/month $85 to Koodo 20gig/month $45. good enough. |

It varies a lot based on whether they pick you up or you get their diff levels of insurance or not. |

The big car rental places are no different with shit like this. I once rented a car from Enterprise and after driving a bit had smoke pouring out of the hood. Found out they forgot to put the oil cap back on, the engine bay was drenched in oil. I took it right back, and they put me in a new car but later had the audacity of charging me for gas used. Disputing that was a pretty fun and heated conversation. |
Took the words out of my mouth. The guy was seeking compensation. Compensation for what? Emotional damage? Reading thar article made my blood boil. |
I’d want compensation too if I was car stupid and cheap and had or listen to a wife and family bitch at me the whole time how I endangered them etc lolol |
I like how he pretends to know what he's talking about by "something wrong with the spark plugs" |
