Wow dine out, brings back a lot of memories. Had some great experiences with that, and some not so great. This would have been early 00's or even late 90's. It was a cool way to experience a restaurant I never would have been able to afford in my 20's otherwise. And no, I did not do it to "flex". Had no idea it was so horrible to the staff, I was just a customer.
And yeah, I am "riff raffy" so you have a problem with that as a diner?
ffs lol
BTW I see Bacchus is still around, that was a really great one

Question for anyone who dealt with TD Auto.
My car is currently financed with TD Auto, and I got a quote from the dealer for paying it off after trade-in.
Except the pay off amount seems to be the entire loan amount just divided by # of months left.
I've traded in financed cars before and it was ALWAYS the principal amount remaining of the car, never the total amount including interest for the future. But those were always manufacturer financing, and not TD.
Are TD Auto loans structured differently, or am I getting the workaround from the dealer?

We used to do dine out back in the day, exactly as you said for going to restaurants we would have normally never gone to.
After a few experiences where I felt the menu is tailored for dineout because it brings in a volume of people not typically experienced by the restaurant, I lost interest. I rather go to a restaurant to pay full price and get the full exp with the correct menu.
Though that sounds a little entitled haha.

I wonder how industry insiders and restaurant owners, chefs feel about Dine Out Vancouver? | Not as bad as it used to be, because it's not such a race to the bottom for the biggest portions at the lowest prices like it was.
It's just boring, as it's always the same shit over and over in order to do it well. It's like 2 weeks of only making 6 items, and the top app/main/dessert usually are like 80% of the sales mix.

I’m broke af right now so wouldn’t partake anyways but I’ve got a stack of Keg gift cards burning a hole in my pocket
Honestly don’t even want to go use them because I feel like I’ve inadvertently gone to the keg during dine out and even the keg slips during these times

Now that most of us have settled down with a partner and/or family, combined with the fact that we're older and have some disposable income, I don't think RS is the target market for Dine Out anymore.
10-15 years ago we were still in college/university, and Dine Out had $19/29/39 menus. Now it says $20-35/35-50/50-65; I doubt you'll find many at the bottom range of each scale!

Back when we went all in for dine out it was 15/25/35, then 19/29/39. The middle option was always the bread and butter, and we'd occasionally "splurge" on a top option.
I think one of my best experiences regardless of dineout or not was the dineout at The Observatory at Grouse Mountain. That was a superb experience. Or I might be looking back with rose tinted glasses cause I didn't know any better back then.

Anyone on RS know when Chong Lee on Rupert and 22nd is going to open? I drive by there once in a while and it looks very close to completion.

More money from our provincial government in response to the rising costs of food and other expenses. https://news.gov.bc.ca/releases/2022...two%20children.
“The winter season often brings extra expenses for people and, with the rising costs we’re seeing around the world, it can add stress to already stretched household budgets,” said Katrine Conroy, Minister of Finance. “We know it won’t cover all the bills, but hopefully this little extra from the BC Affordability Credit will help take a bit of the pressure off as we head into a new year.”
Eighty-five per cent of British Columbians will automatically receive a full or partial BC Affordability Credit through the Canada Revenue Agency. The credit will provide as much as an additional $164 per adult and $41 per child, which will be as much as $410 for a family with two children.
“We’re focused on helping the people and families who need it most right now, and we are in a strong position to continue this support,” Conroy said. “No matter what is on the horizon, we’ll continue to be here for British Columbians.”
More help is on the way for B.C. families this month through the first of three enhanced BC Family Benefit payments on Jan. 20, 2023. The January, February and March payments will include as much as an additional $58.33 per child, for each month. A family with two children will receive as much as $350 from this top-up.

I wAnder how long they can keep it clean.......
I also wonder if the butcher with the huge mole in his face will be back.............. slippery floor was a great feature at the 22nd Avenue location. I dare not go into their washroom. Did they even have one? Oh, and the smell of rotting fish and who knows what else.........
Loved that place.

^ honestly, pretty bold of Zellers to come back to real bricks and mortar retail. Everyone trending towards Amazon and online. Not sure if it's a good move. Walmart has really cornered the low price dept store. Costco fills those who can do volume purchase. Will Zellers copy Walmart and have a grocery section? Not sure what they can offer that is better than what is already out there.

Curious for those of you who have renewed a passport recently, what is the current wait time?
I went on the passport website and I see it's been redone since I last went on about two months ago and it's saying 10-20 business days for standard and 2-9 for express.
I don't recall it saying this at all two months back... have they caught up?
Thanks

Our entire business systems are so stupid sometimes.
Like streaming services making record profits during a pandemic, and then everyone acts all shocked when those profits dry up when the pandemic winds down.
Like DUH, what do you think's going to happen when people aren't forced to be stuck at home anymore. Who's the moron that projected they would be maintaining the same pace forever?
