IMO F&F 1 was the only "good" one and mostly in a "so bad it's good" way, but also being about that 'culture' at that time was a smart thing to do. I watched that premiere in Richmond and kids were CHEERING they were loving it so much. 2-4 are all just mostly bad sequels. 5-10 and all the spinoffs are pretty much Superhero special FX movies with cars instead of Avengers. |

im sure ive asked this before but best place to donate used clothes and shoes? SCPA? a Hospital thrift store? i have like 3 bags of good clothes and a garbage bag full of virtually brand new shoes, Nike, etc. This stuff is probably worth $400-$500 sold individually but i cant be bothered, but id rather "good" stuff like this go to a decent cause.. |
My recent experience is limited to just VGH Thrift Store, but the experience wasn't very good. I've tried multiple times over a few months span to donate items. One day I went, they weren't accepting clothing. Another day I went a sign says not taking donation. Another day, same thing, but this time I ask why. The explanation I got was that because the value village burned down they've been getting a lot more donations and need more time to sort and was encouraged to try again next week. Another day I call in first and ask if they're taking donations and they say no. I tried 1 last time and still the same answer. In the end I put it in the donation bins at the Burnaby Eco center. |

They take all the donations, sort through them, ship them by the shipping container full to super poor countries mostly in Africa and then sell them to the locals for what we would consider very little money... but I guess it all adds up. The guy had made millions off it, was pretty incredible and also saddening to hear. |
It's quite the business. You can tell who sells to other countries if they start thinking about the weight of your goods rather than what the item itself is. |
Except developing countries have stopped receiving the 1st world's throwaways. They are throwing their hands up in the air and saying, 'No Mas ... No mas !' I guess the question to Hondaracer, without sounding so judgmental, is why do you have to throw out such good things? Why do you have garbage bags full of good clothes? |
He stated in another thread that he's a minimalist with his possessions, people buy stuff on a whim all the time and don't wear them... most people have a hard time admitting it and turfing it though haha |
Add to that, he is of the opinion produce and fresh foods purchased at Costco are of a higher quality. With Costco quantities, I can only presume a lot of it goes to waste. |

The shoes on the other hand are mostly just frivolous/wasteful spending on shit we never wore, but they are in such good condition someone should get use out of them |
I’m in the same boat. Relative fell ill and is now in a care home. Expensive clothes. Mostly new. I took everything to the Salvation Army on Gilmore and Hastings. Just drop it off. No furniture, but clothes and jewelry accepted. You don’t even talk to anyone. They sort everything and decide what they sell and what goes to the disadvantaged. I’ve also donated stuff to shelter for women. That one is a bit tricky. My daughter took care of it. Safe house for a reason. No address until you call. If you’re a guy. Not possible. |
Big Brother does monthly pick ups. You can book an appointment over their website or call someone to schedule it. I generally just take my stuff to the Burnaby Eco Center on Still Creek though. |

The Zero Waste Center at 8588 Yukon (Vancouver) has a good number of used clothing donation bins. You just go and toss them in. Quote:

Greedflation, lol. There's no way prices going up by 40 - 50% is explainable. 20 - 30%, maybe. Using wage increases, increased gas prices, etc adds up to all that? Once the media starts to report on the many reasons that prices might go up in the near future, the corporations are like................ "Open Season!" "Nobody's going to investigate us." Not anymore, corps. People are fed up and pressing for inquiries. Who trusts large corporations these days? Many have been charged with price fixing in the past. The CEOs and presidents never show up for these hearings. Also, they settle out of court. Better to pay a few million in damages now after making tens of millions over the years. I have no problem with the corporations making profits. Just don't gouge the public. Record profits, they have. Fullshit!! /rant |
The same people that complain about record profits of corporations, are the same people that buy and support the corporation by buying their stonks. My stonk is up 25% this year!!!! Yeah!!! :rukidding: |
LOL............ I know what stonk means, but at the same time, your username makes sense. It's like stonk It's a misspelling of a couple of words. Double income no kids.......... or a synonym for geek or nerd just one letter off............... amirite? OR............... https://liftabrand.com/About/Blog/en...what-is-a-donk Yeah......... too much time on my hands |
