It’s a dead end and going straight is not possible. Each light has a sign that reads “Left Turn Signal,” and, “Right Turn Signal.” They both turn green at the same time. Traffic from the left is a hill with a curve and people do speed. The right side (northbound) has a dedicated left turn light and a green up arrow for traffic wanting to go straight. Those lights turn green at different times. I guess it’s because of the limited vision issue. Next time I’m there, I’m going to turn right on the red and tell the police when pulled over RS told me it’s okay, because RS is always, “right.”

I'm pretty sure that because it's a dedicated traffic signal for right turns (as noted by the sign), that supercedes the requirement for a "no right turn on red" sign.

Just like the "left turn signal" sign for the left turn lane at a standard intersection. Once that light is red, you can no longer enter the intersection at all even if the straight through lights are green.

Can't remember if Vancouver have these, but they are common in Ontario.

Two right turn lanes coming off a highway off-ramp. No "no right turn on red" signs, so we can legally right turn from either of those lanes on a red light. The problem comes when the far-right lane does an improper right-turn and turns into the lane next to the far-right lane on the perpendicular street which is for the second right turn lane to turn into (blue arrow).

A lot of times you will also get someone in the blue arrow lane not turning right (when it is completely clear and safe) on a red because they don't know you are allowed to from the 2nd lane, meanwhile others are right turning from the far-right lane.

Don’t think we have anything like that here? Especially on a red

I'm still shopping around for service to build a patio cover. I got a free consultation from one company so far. Will meet another one next week.

As general rule of thumb, is there any price negotiation in this type of service, or would that be considered in poor taste? The one company I've met so far already gave me an option to pay in cash, no tax. lol. And they aren't even Chinese...

Anything remotely close to that is at Science World. I've seen some really stupid stuff happen there. No can't turn right on a red sign (as far as I know or recall). Pedestrian and bikes everywhere makes for a dangerous intersection.

Frick........... now I'm gonna have to check for cops before turning right on that red. So, Elton (the driver who honked at me), was wrong? He insisted he was right........... in a nice way.

I call chubby, balding, old caucasians, "Elton." Like the use of "Karen," to describe typical entitled women.

Or, taking a wide turn like you're driving a tandem trailer or an eighteen wheeler, but it's a Corolla you're driving.

Same driver who goes back and forth in a parking stall multiple times, only to move the car over 6 mm.

Still, better than an Elton or a redneck in a truck, parking at a 30º angle at a Costco parking lot.

SSM_DC5 03-17-2023 11:21 AM

Smythe turning right into Seymour has both "right turn signal" and "no turning on red" signs. Road side court with the officer that there is no sign that prohibits turning on red.

Ah yea good example. That’s probably the closest yea

Rupert onto E/B First Ave is also dual right turn lanes. I’ve asked the ICBC guys years ago when i renewed my driver license and the guy said it’s fine to turn right from the centre (non-curb turn lane) lane on a red when traffic is clear but just play safe and don’t do it on a road test lol. I do turn right from that 2nd lane when possible.

AFAIK red arrows don’t normally or formally exist in BC so we don’t have to worry about that

So the only signs that we have to be aware of are No Right Turn on Red, or No Left Turn on Red, regardless of green ball or arrow. People forget or don’t know that you are allowed to make a left turn onto a one-way (ie downtown or onto a hwy on-ramp) on a red.

Also most people don’t know u-turns (reverse turns) are illegal at any signalized intersection with the exception of local bylaw (the u-turn allowing signs along King George Hwy for examplr). Vancouver’s, Richmond’s and Burnaby’s No U-Turn signs erected at signalized intersections actually creates further confusion because it is actually a redundant sign that causes people to remain uneducated and to think that they can instead perform the movement at other intersections where the sign is not posted...

Coming back from Point Roberts, I recall a double right turn lane from 56 St to Hwy 17th.

Yes but it has dedicated green arrow for right turns, along with a no turning right on red sign.

The way people drive down hwy 17 after getting off the ferries, it's a no-brainer.

Those lanes should be marked better, it would probably prevent a lot of that from happening

I watched OZ beginning to end at the onset of the pandemic. I remember wondering why my grandpa was always watching this show that showed way too much dick on showcase back when I was younger, but man, he had it right. One of my favourite series I have ever watched.

It’s in my top as well. For most people they just think it’s a showcase show about gang rape but man.. that writing

The fucking storylines in that show had me feeling physically ill in how twisted and sadistic they were lol.. and I don’t doubt it’s a pretty accurate representation however dramatized
