TIL: If you live in a house in Burnaby with a driveway in the front of the house (your garage is in the front) it's actually illegal to park on said driveway b/c it's legally a front yard and the driveway is only for you to get your car out of your garage.

The rule is only enforced if someone else calls the city on you and you would be ticketed for parking your car in your driveway. :rukidding:

Even if it's your own property it's illegal - it's why we can't legalize our suite as our driveway can't be used as parking and we have to provide a parking spot to be legal.

Most of my block has parking in the front of the house and I'd say more than half of the houses have cars parked in the driveway. My neighbourhood is about 20% front yard parking too. It's a bizarre rule.
