A number of years ago I saw a guy trying to return a Dewalt chop saw at home depot. The guy had no receipt. An employee that I know claimed he had just walked out of the store with the saw a few minutes ago without paying. They did not give him a refund but let him walk out of the store with the saw.
If you look at facebook marketplace you will see a number of new in package items for sale. I'm not saying they are all stolen but a number of them are.
Look at all these new in package Dewalt batteries for sale. If you check there profiles You will see next to no info about them.
Yeah, I always just assumed the power tools I saw on Facebook were stolen either in-store or by the pallet. Very rarely would I assume it's a combo deal they split depending on the user's profile history.
Reminds me of a subplot of an episode of the Sopranos - Walk Like a Man
If you use tiktok you see clips like this all the time especially since some states won't send police for theft under $1000 like California, essentially making it legal
I liked the whole thing up to the reveal of pricing.
It had all the new techs that solves VR headsets problems... I thought it was day 1 purchase if it was 1500USD (basically 50% apple tax vs. Oculus Pro)...
It's much nicer than a Quest and seems to be more productivity focused, but it's definitely not worth the extra $3000 bucks.
I had a Quest 2 and I barely touched it after a while. You can only play so much Beat Saber and Pistol Whip before you get tired of it, and wearing anything for longer periods of time is painful with a giant thing resting on your head/forehead.

Guys, the AR headset is not meant for games. It's a productivity tool, and basically a laptop + 4K TV rolled into one with the M2 chip + microLED screens. This is v1 and aimed at businesses etc.
Consumer grade products maybe 2-3 years away IMO.

i watched the WWDC and i wasnt very impressed. yeah it can do desktop crap, watch movies, facetime/teams, etc. But thats pretty much everything the existing VR headsets are doing. Only special feature are the resolution and gesture controls (which seems to only be capable while using the UI.) Gaming for example they broke out a PS5 controller.
price is expensive, but it technically can be used as a desktop replacement device.

But you can't do that while looking THROUGH the VR glasses, which this thing is allowing. That's the big deal about it.
The MS AR glasses (Hololens) was about 2K but needed a PC to run it.

As with the Quest Pro, the Quest 3 supports mixed reality and offers full-color passthrough. This enables users to see a color version of the physical space around them via the external cameras. The headset will be able to blend augmented reality elements into the outside world.
I can't believe apple Spent a bunch of money to put a screen on the front just so you can see the eyes.
I own a Quest 1, Quest 2 and will be getting a quest 3 down the road. Waiting for Vale to put the steam deck hardware into a VR headset

People said the same thing when Airpods first came out.
That battery tether is okay. The Quest wasn't any better IIRC. I hated the cable so I just ended up using the Quest with my elite strap battery since I never connected it to my computer. In hindsight, I should've never gotten the battery pack since I never used it long enough comfortably to need the extra juice.

Early tech is always expensive and often looks stupid, but we're not used to the latter with Apple. Over the last 20 years, they usually avoid putting something out unless it makes you look cool. This is the total opposite.
There will be early adopters, but most of us know the tech is really cool, but it's expensive and looks stupid. We can say that while also assuming it will be cheaper and look better after a few revisions... But if it ends up getting really big, you can't really go back and say "see, you guys were shitting on it at first!".
It could be another iPad, which seemed utterly stupid at first, but became a pretty mainstream type of product. Or it could be another flop - Apple has had plenty of those over the years, even pretty recently. Sometimes it gets fixed with the next revision (remember "you're holding it wrong"?) or sometimes it just gets dropped (the AirPower died before it even hit shelves)
So far everyone has failed at making VR mainstream, even Sony. If anyone can do it, it's Apple. But it's not guaranteed at all.
has be thinking of daft punk.
i guess that makes sense on pricing if they're selling $2k phones now. but with phones you get on a plan in order to afford it, i dunno what type of payment plans apple has...
