I just used generic playground sand but it wasn't really necessary - at most I used 5 pounds (versus 25kg of the base rock) worth to make it extra level but I'd say that was more a case of me being a n00b with this kind of stuff. When I get around to the other side of the driveway I don't think I'll use any sand.

Does anyone have any experience mountain biking at Whistler?

I'm a novice, but I wanted to try my hand at it. The website seems a little overwhelming. I'm going to need a bike rental and I guess I have to buy a five day pass? They don't sell single day passes?

Sorry I can't help but I just want to say I did that a long time ago and it was fun as hell. I went down on my cross country hardtail and it was a challenge to say the least. If you can rent a downhill bike with basically motocross suspension, all you have to do is sit and point the wheel at the trail lol.. Great fun, I highly recommend it. I did have a pretty nasty bail, but didn't get hurt.

How "Novice" is novice? Like, some of the blue trails at Whistler make the more difficult trails at say SFU look like child's play.

Highly recommend renting full body armour and a full face helmet if you don't have that already.

Funny story: The first time I went biking at whistler, I bailed on that sample jump at the start of A-Line trail. The one that says "This is the type of stuff to expect on this trail, if you're not comfortable with this we don't recommend you continue down the trail"
Was pretty embarrassing. Still made it down A-Line OK though :P

I ride there a few times a year, up to black diamond trails (dirt merchant) edit: that's actually dual black diamond

My buddy has not ridden a bike in 10 years, he came out with me probably 3 years ago, and since then we have been up every year since.

We started on greens, those are no jumps, no danger, just coasting downhill.
We went to blues on day 1, as long as you "roll" them, you are fine. (Ask people at the top of each run, if it's a "roller" or "drop/jump" track. Most people know what tracks a novice should NOT be on.)

If you want you can get air, but may result in you doing the scorpion with your body. (My buddy did this on the second year by accident when going too fast, and had a concussion for a few days)

If you want to bike Whistler, go for it.
Bike rental: 200$ish with helmet. Do yourself a favor and get shin + elbow pads.
Day pass, 90$ I think? You don't need no 5 day pass....

Gas, rental, lift ticket, food, it's a 400$ day for you. Compares to taking the car to the track, thrill level is 100%.

I ride with shin/knee pads because my legs are fucked up from the years of injury etc from bailing and eating dirt. Once you start doing more hardcore stuff, a neck brace is suggested, along with chest and arm armor.

Any other questions inbox me dawg.

If youre ok with doing some climbing i recommended trying squamish first. You can rent a fs bike for like $70 and ride all day for free, but you gotta earn your turns.

Has anyone used one of these Jackery power stations with the solar panels?

How well does the solar charging work vs their claimed 6hrs?

Thinking about getting one of these for camping.
One of the 1000W units + 2*100W solar panels costs about the same as the 1000W plus a small dual-fuel generator.

They claim 6Hrs recharge by solar. Obviously the generator would be faster, but would need to carry fuel, do maintenance, etc and most campgrounds limit hours of operation of generators (and would hate being "that generator guy" in the campground), based on what I want to use this for I'd likely have to charge every day.

What's your Price Range?
What features do you want? (Mulch option, propel assist, full self propel etc?)

Is there a specific reason you want gas? (do you have a really big yard or something?)

I currently have a Toro Mulching propel assist gas mower, and it's been good for 10 years now, but once it dies I'm going battery electric without question. They are really good now, more than enough power and run time is really good (my uncle has no problem mowing an acre with his greenworks). Municipalities are starting to ban gas powered lawn equipment altogether (Oak bay just did this, and I can imagine it won't be long before more follow in their footsteps)

Virtually every professional I've seen uses a Honda mower and most consumer reviews also put Honda at the top of the list so if you're willing to pay the premium that's all there is to it (it's 2-3x as expensive). If you don't want to spend the bucks for a full Honda mower then consider a mower with a Honda engine (Lawn Boy offers them as do a few other brands).

I've dreamed of owning a Honda mower for a long time but just don't have a big enough yard to justify it so a 18V Ryobi is where its at for me. Cordless electric is great if your yard is small enough - it may not cut as well as a Honda (and the build quality is shit in comparison) but it's way quieter and light enough that I can pick it up with one hand.

I had 61 cents deposited into one of my bank accounts a few weeks back but I have no idea for what except it says "Class Action Rebate". I don't even know who I gave my account info to - I haven't used that account in 3-4 years.

Currently have a lawnboy with a honda motor, it starts up but dies after 1-2 seconds. Reason for gas is because I thought an electric battery might not be enough to finish the job, have an ok size lawn (corner unit). Would probably like it to at least propel assist with a bag in the back, similar to what I currently have. Not really want to spend too much, a quick search is showing $300-500.

Go tesla for lawn mower. No gas, no cords. Even if yard is 'big', you can get extra battery, have both charged. When one dies, use other one, then put the 1st one on the charger ... surely that should cover your lawn.
