This is what they make currently and we offered 10% increase over 3 years but still rejected.

They hold all the cards. Even if we fire them, they don’t care it’ll take years to go through grievances

How do these guys pass criminal record search?

I don't think they even did criminal record checks until the last hiring like 4 years ago when someone got shot at the training facility

Maybe Badhobz can open up about what BCMEAs profits have been the last few years even with paying these wages

Badhobz 07-19-2023 10:02 AM

Once you’re in, you’re in. They don’t check records every year only when you first apply.

They get their kids in at 18 and then whatever they do afterwards they still have their ticket.

Badhobz 07-19-2023 10:04 AM

Oh trust me the bcmea are the same bullshit. For a non profit they take so much money it’s ridiculous.. you should see the stupid spending they do. Nobody’s hands are clean here. The whole industry is s clusterfuck of greed and corruption.

Badhobz 07-19-2023 10:18 AM

So union just served us 72h strike notice. So they’ll be back on strike July 22nd. Awesome !

LOL aren't these the same rates as 10 years ago, I remember longshoremen making $50/hr when I was at canada place.

$50 10+ years ago was probably for afternoons or graveyard shift

Ugly, there's video of the crash

Supra was making a left turn with advance green, police car is stopped on the other side of the intersection so you know the Supra was probably taking it easy as to not draw attention and some jacked up dually truck blows by the police car through the red at way over 100km/h and just annihilates the Supra... female passenger got killed.

You guys ever drive by a car accident where you can see the body? That happened to me last week. It must have happened 5 or 10 minutes before I drove by, as cops were there, no paramedics weren't. They were controlling traffic, and there was a dead body lying face down in the street by them. Only one car so I wonder if it was a pedestrian... Pretty haunting image, but I couldn't turn away.

Not the actual body but I remember driving by a motorcycle accident near Main / Terminal where a tarp was placed in the middle of the street. Very humbling to witness knowing that the victim wasn't expecting to die that day.

I've also witnessed someone passing away in end-of-life care. This was a different experience because everyone was more mentally prepared, but it was still uncomfortable to hear the silence that followed a final louder gasp.

whitev70r 07-19-2023 03:18 PM

For most people ... have you ever seen a dead body? I mean if you're in healthcare ... of course. Even for nurses, the first time ... it is very jarring and emotionally disturbing. Most people have not ... unless grandpa or grandma died and there was open casket. Nowadays, it's mostly cremation so even less so.

Hondaracer 07-19-2023 03:26 PM

Saw my grandpa dead in the hospital as a thing I guess to see them before they get cremated. That’s the point where it really solidified the idea to me that a body is just a vessel and that body isn’t really that person you knew any longer.

When I was a kid though I remember we were camping at Tunkwa lake and a couple went to sleep in their tent with a propane heater inside. When we woke up in the morning they had obviously suffocated and whoever discovered them were doing CPR lole 60 feet away from
Where we were. Both ended up dieing and basically laying their dead until the amp finally showed up. That was kinda jarring

Badhobz 07-19-2023 03:32 PM

Well this turned very depressing. Thanks a lot guys.

MG1 07-19-2023 03:35 PM

I was in the hospital to witness two of my aunts take their last breath. I was holding hands with one of them when it was time. Then my wife. I got a call early afternoon when I was in Bellingham shopping with my youngest son. I arrived at the hospice within the hour. It was something I will never forget. Everyone left the room so I could be alone with her.......................

Great68 07-19-2023 03:42 PM

A bunch of years ago, I was following an ambulance up the Malahat when it stopped just near the split rock viewpoint. These was a motorcycle on the ground, a tarp a dozen or so feet away with some legs and boots sticking out from it, and an RCMP officer doing active CPR on another person.

Turns out some dude stole a car in North Van, took the Nanaimo ferry over, drove down the island until he decided to make an illegal left turn into the rest stop, right in front of a motorcyclist with a rider on the back. He ran somewhere into the bush and they didn't find him until the next day when he turned himself in.

roastpuff 07-19-2023 03:53 PM

Hey MG1, glad to see you still around. We were wondering where you went!

SkinnyPupp 07-19-2023 03:59 PM

Yeah MG1 I thought of you when watching some CFL... Even posted about it in the last year Lions thread!

Hey great to see you back. You haven't posted in awhile and we were getting worried.

MG1 07-19-2023 06:13 PM

Yeah, I was in a pretty dark place for a while. I was dealing with all kinds of issues. I've never been so depressed, angry, all kinds of bad. Had to clear my head and concentrate on being a better person. I'm getting back on track. Better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Never have those words meant so much.

Thanks to those RS members who reached out via calls and messages.

Badhobz 07-20-2023 05:01 AM

whitev70r 07-20-2023 07:33 AM

Badhobz 07-20-2023 07:57 AM
