Yah, the Avian flu hit the duck market ... the prices went sky high. ~$50 per duck at the avg BBQ shop! Even without that ... I agree. Went to a fancy one on West Broadway a few yrs ago and it was like >$100 and I thought it wasn't worth it at that price.

DIY roast duck isn't too bad in terms of prep/work. I've been experimenting with making my own - my char siu and siu yuk is pretty good, still working on the duck. My FIL makes pretty good home made roast duck.

i know you can probably make it in an oven but I'm been eyeing kamado style BBQs and trying to justify the cost.

This is one of the videos that I'm trying to do that in...and the other is smoked brisket. Sure pizza too, but damn they are expensive...and heavy!

Canadian geese/snow geese are not protected. You can in fact hunt them. Though I have heard the ones down here taste like crap because they eat garbage.

Is goose not popular in Canada? Over here you'd have to go searching for duck at roast meat restaurants; everyone just serves roast goose now (market stalls still sell duck, some both). When I first moved here it wasn't like that outside Sham Tseng LUL

Quality of goose is not as good as compared to those in Asia.
