Was going to say it's not worth it at all but hobz beat me to it
Speaking o which even t&t bbq duck isn't worth it, hasn't been crispy in years and they keep jacking the price up :okay:

whitev70r 07-20-2023 08:22 AM

Yah, the Avian flu hit the duck market ... the prices went sky high. ~$50 per duck at the avg BBQ shop! Even without that ... I agree. Went to a fancy one on West Broadway a few yrs ago and it was like >$100 and I thought it wasn't worth it at that price.

roastpuff 07-20-2023 08:23 AM

DIY roast duck isn't too bad in terms of prep/work. I've been experimenting with making my own - my char siu and siu yuk is pretty good, still working on the duck. My FIL makes pretty good home made roast duck.

i know you can probably make it in an oven but I'm been eyeing kamado style BBQs and trying to justify the cost.

This is one of the videos that I'm trying to do that in...and the other is smoked brisket. Sure pizza too, but damn they are expensive...and heavy!

Canadian geese/snow geese are not protected. You can in fact hunt them. Though I have heard the ones down here taste like crap because they eat garbage.

Trudeau made a promise to remove all fish farms out of our waters. Pretty important stuff. Justin needs to be more like his father and fight for our environment. Pierre enjoyed the outdoors. Loved being out on the water and its wildlife. He'd be so pissed off at his son right now The longer the open pen farms are out there, the more damage to the wild stocks. .

Those people have NO idea how much work goes on at Fisheries and Oceans protecting habitats.

Look up Big Bar if you get a chance.

Trudeau is an avid hiker/outdoor person as well, remember everyone shitting on him for going to Tofino lol

That's why magazine-fed, semi-automatic assault shotguns should not be banned. We need to defend ourselves against these geese!

When we were just up the coast we saw a tug towing a MASSIVE structure up past Powell river, it was like the side of a cruise ship

Turned out to be a floating warehouse for a fish farm. Unfortunately seems like there is very little progress on them.

Is goose not popular in Canada? Over here you'd have to go searching for duck at roast meat restaurants; everyone just serves roast goose now (market stalls still sell duck, some both). When I first moved here it wasn't like that outside Sham Tseng LUL

And yes, goose is so much better

bcrdukes 07-20-2023 05:39 PM

Quality of goose is not as good as compared to those in Asia.

Might be a good opportunity to start a goose farm!
