It's honestly an even bigger deal than people are making. Her tour as an economy are bigger than some states. It's the only tour that will have ever grossed over a billion dollars and will likely be similar to the number 2 and number 3 tours put together. It's absolutely fucking crazy.

Probably a bit of both? It's definitely a massive tour and people are paying stupid amounts of money for it but she's also not the only one who has sold out big places.
Yeah it's probably just how quickly it's selling out and for the money it's going for. 6 shows in Toronto seems like a lot, and I don't know who's spending a couple grand on a ticket to see Motley Crue
Add to the fact that Ticketmaster has to limit the amount of people who can even try to buy tickets or their website crumbles from the traffic

I saw a news story in passing stating Taylor is on set to be the highest grossing female artist by the end of this tour and like the 3rd or 4th wealthiest music artist
This is like the first tour that's selling out tickets for shows a year in advance
I am not super familiar with her music originally, but I really dig the Taylor's Versions that she's been releasing, they are much more folk/singer-songwriter vibe than what I remembered them to be.
I am looking forward to the TV of 1989. Ryan Adams did an acoustic cover of the entire 1989 album a few years back and its really good.

Honestly if you haven't heard the album Folklore by Taylor swift you are missing out. Written with Aaron dessner from the national and Justin Vernon of bon iver. It's a fucking hammer of an album, and totally solidifies TS as a true talent that goes well beyond a pop star.
I wouldn't sit through a concert TBH because it isn't my thing beyond that album, but even the snobbiest of music snobs should appreciate her.
I'm a fan of Tay Tay too particularly as she's grown up and taken some strong political stances. I'm not much of a concert goer since they are usually too loud for my damaged ears but I'd definitely go see her live (but after Adele and Beyonce) as she works her ass off to give her fans a show. 3.5 hour long show and it doesn't matter what the weather is.

Their website has always been a piece of shit so that's not totally surprising, but I imagine it's got to be borderline unusable when her tickets go on sale lol.
What'd be an interesting (but impossible to get) number is the total amount people have spent on tickets, not just revenues. When you see people paying scalpers a fortune for tickets in the nosebleeds the amount of money people have spent to see her would be even further ahead of the revenue numbers. I'm guessing at least part of that is people trying to show off by going to a show that they wouldn't have otherwise but it's still nuts.

I enjoy tay tay music. It’s not too bad. Strange that she used to be a country singer and now she’s just like uhhhh pop-ish
Appealing to a wider audience to avoid being pigeonholed is marketing 101. Kane Brown did a similar thing. Got famous with country and is now dabbling in pop.
Dolly Parton recently released a rock album..
Long story short, people in the entertainment business know how to make money.

How much are tickets for her concert? I took my gf to her concert in Chicago back in 2018 and they were $600 total for two tickets by the stage, can't remember if they were ticket master aftermarket tickets or regular priced tho
But I imagine this time around with the costs of everything it would be in the 1000s for one ticket
Damn this is dope ... why can't our engineers think of things like this. Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel in Virginia, USA. Has anyone ever driven across and under this?
^I’m sure they have, but it’s probably too expensive to do without good reason. That said, maybe this can be our Massey tunnel replacement solution given how the governments flip flop between a tunnel and a bridge.
^ just did a bit of googling ... the HK Macau one is LONG ass .. but what is weird is that I think Macau/China drives on the right hand side and HK drives on the left and you need special permit.
I think you have the bridge/tunnel if there are lots of ships that need to cross. I don't know how many ships need to cross Massey and it is short. What we need is a bridge like that to Victoria! Forget these delays, cancellations, mechanical ship failure, BS.
BC Ferries will be in shambles if they build a tunnel France / England style to connect the island to the lower mainland. And given our productivity level it'll take like 50+ years to get through all the red tape and NIMBYism that's going to appear.
We simply don't have the money or economic growth to justify large infrastructure projects like this (unfortunately).
Fuck man this is why western society is getting left behind. ChiNAR wants a bridge they just build one. It’s done in like a few months.
We want a bridge, we need to ask everyone and their mothers for approval. Then it has to go through a gazillion tests and engineering oversight committees etc. by the time it’s all done the costs are 4x what was initially quoted and it’ll already underserve the needs of the people.
I’m trying to push Rob bank second terminal and got bogged down in environmental regulations and talks with the First Nations. Something about some fucking bird that isn’t even endangered but is at risk if we build robbank terminal 2.
^Think Hong Kong had a similar problem when the airport tried to build a new runway in the same area, but instead of birds it's pink dolphins.
It's not easy to find a balance between China's method of 'we're doing this whether you like it or not' vs western method of 'let's consider everyone's concerns' (and take forever in the process) - each have their pros and cons.
