You ain't buying a car when you buy a rolls

Your buying bragging rights to your Saudi Arabian friends, and parking your money rather than having it sizzling in the stonk market doing "nothing"

A 30 mil Rolls makes more sense than paying 80k for a mass produced vehicle that was 40k 5 years ago

Yup that's what's insane about the car market (and watches are like that too)

I have an ozone machine that I got off Amazon that I'm going to use on my RDX this weekend as it has a bit of a musty smell to it that I can't seem to get rid of. You're welcome to borrow it - just hit me up on DM - much cheaper than taking it to a detail shop especially as you only need to run it for an hour.

Big ups to supafamous, went out of his way a bit ago to basically lend me a brand new ozone machine to use on my car.

I used it one night at my parents (needed an outlet to us it) and it worked so well I couldn't even take my car home after lol... had to let it air out overnight.

I feel like the smell in my vents on startup is almost completely gone. If I had a machine I would probably hit it again and do it with the car running and the vents on recirc to get more of the ozone into the ventilation system itself because I think I can still pick up the smallest trace right when the car first starts... but that's just learning how to use something.

Just wanted to report back and publicly thank supafamous for being such a great guy!!

I read this as "I used it one night ON my parents", and was wtf for a second there.

So I joined this monthly car wash club at the new car wash by the Lougheed/Boundary McDonald's. Unlimited car wash (once a day) for a reasonable cost. It's just like every drive through car wash. For a daily beater, it's great. Just today, I saw this dude standing in front of a machine of some sort. Damn, it was a mat cleaner. You slide your mat into this slot and the machine cleans it. Not sure how good it cleans it, but it's the first time I've seen one up close.

How much does is this unlimited service cost, and is it touchless?

Brushes, but doesn’t look like traditional brushes. My first month was like $18 something. After that, $32.00? Not sure. I go every few days. Ten times will make it $3.00 a wash. Will definitely need it in winter. This is no Ferrari or Maserati I drive, so no care. BTW, this is for basic wash. Prices will be higher for the better options. It does a decent job, plus you get to go through another time if wash is not to your liking.

Again, for a daily driver/winter beater, it’s worth it.

How do they keep track of you? License plate? Your ID? They give you a membership card?

How are people going to know what I'm looking for if there's no more Kleenex? Who calls it facial tissue?!

Scan of license plate. It is so cool. Press on screen to activate. Press "No Upgrade" button and the arm swings up. It's that easy.

Tissues will forever be called Kleenex. Just like Scotch Tape.

Duct Tape, not to be confused with, Duck Tape, gulolol. There actually is a company that sells Duck Tape...............

Theres some tomboy chick there that is way too excited as a car wash attendant

MG1 08-25-2023 08:56 AM

Yeah, I see her there all the time. That's a she?

Speaking of which............... there was this one s/he person at the car wash unloading boxes at the storage side. Damn, s/he was tall with a KD Lang haircut. Wore a muscle shirt, but had no muscle to speak of. Caucasian with smooth white skin and a great smile. I don't care if it's a he or a she.......... kind of hot. Take a walk on the wild side. Damn............

And, yes, I talked to her. She was driving an Outlander so I asked her about it. She talked like a woman. No titties to speak of. Not even a nipple sticking out. Wore loose pants, so no idea. Also walked like a woman. I'm so confused....... was a very nice person. Did I mention a great smile? Great personality, too. One of those really happy to be alive people. Effervescent qualities.

mikemhg 08-25-2023 09:33 AM

I think I'll join that car wash this winter, they're not far from my place.

I still have some free bags and car freshener they were giving out when you'd get a wash when they first opened.

It's a decent wash but I laugh at how many people have already rubbed against all those damn poles they have setup in there :lol

We have a 2023 minivan brand new in silver.
Would you guys take it to this unlimited car wash? I would probably go 2x a week since i'm only 10mins away. I hate having a dirty car, but I drive highway to work and the car always gets dirty

Brushed car washes aren't that bad, are they?

MG1 08-25-2023 08:15 PM

Read the info in the link I posted. It explains what is used and how.

I see all kinds of expensive cars there.

I went down a rabbit hole of "how to wash" when I bought mine

Daily driver that you aren't trying to get top dollar for on resale / isn't a garage queen = no problem for contact and non contact drive thru

Sportscar / or you really care about your vehicle that you are trying to keep in good exterior shape + nice rims + wide rims = no drive through carwash

Most of my cars including my ragtops, I put through the contact and non contact washes - no problems

C7 gets self serve coin bay, spray only, 2 new disposable rags, brush on rims only (I'm in a condo, no hose access)
