The wife dug out some headphones from the old iPhone 4-5 boxes she found while cleaning up the house. I remember when they used to supply those (and also a power brick) while the phones were like 600-700 dollars.

Is there anything like free geek anymore?

I need just a basic display port cable from monitor to dock, I’d rather just grab a used cable for a buck or two rather than buy a brand new cable for $10+ seems so wasteful when I’m sure there are millions just laying around

Free geek and the oile don’t seem to be around anymore

Bastards don't even include chargers anymore.

They claim it's more environmentally friendly.

But they also provide one less component to the customer, and more importantly, the box is slimmer, so they can fit more on a single pallet!

Where were you yesterday when I was out there?!?!

lol jk, much appreciated but the drive out there probably negates the savings for me with these gas prices :concentrate:

To be fair, I feel like I have so many of those wall chargers I don't know what to do with them all. So I don't personally miss them in new devices. Apple cords are nice to have a few extra but those micro usb ... coming out of my ears.

underscore 08-28-2023 02:12 PM

Most of the spare wall chargers I have are the old style 500mA ones, which aren't really good for anything. I only have a couple fast chargers.

Badhobz 08-28-2023 03:52 PM

Yeah well it’s all going to shit now as iPhone 15 is gonna be usb C and all these lame ass lightening cables I have are gonna go straight into the garbage.

I only have a few power bricks that outputs usb C so I guess I gotta pony up and buy those too. Fuck you crapple.

I just want to cut into their profit margins. Things aren't getting cheaper and they're providing us with less. What a win win for them...

of course, environmentally friendly blah blah blah, keeps cost of product down, blah blah blah. How convenient for them.

punkwax 08-29-2023 05:56 AM

I feel like I spend ~$100 every year on charging bricks and cables. Kids go through them like crazy.

Speaking of Halloween, I was on I-5 last week when I saw this car with the coolest antenna topper. It was a zombie (maybe skeleton) with arms that flapped in all directions as the car went down the road. I so want one. Anyone seen something like this? I searched the Internet high and low.

Any help would be appreciated.

MG1 08-30-2023 06:45 AM

Days are getting colder and shorter. Before you know it, we'll be shovelling snow.

Never fails. PNE weather.

Worst part? Dollar Drink Days are almost over. To be honest, I think I've had two maybe three this year. Anyway, good news? Pumpkin Spice this pumpkin spice that............... time to get some scones at Cobbs.

Back to school ads............ yuck.

I'm sad about August wrapping up so quickly too. And we were just dealing with 30ºC weather 2 weeks ago.

And I am honestly really super extremely grateful that the on and off rain has returned. I know we desperately, desperately need it, and it is also good that it isn't the constant heavy rain that would lead to flooding. But selfishly speaking, I also know how much I want to be able to drive the fun car in some nice weather.

Before we know it, it'll be October and it's time to park the fun car for another season...

Agreed!

My fun car almost made it through the entire season without getting exposed to any wet weather. Meanwhile my beater has been sitting on the street for months, covered in dust. Hopefully the rain helped clean it up a bit, and hope it runs again in October!

So we’re going to Disneyland next week and I’ve been watching some videos to find the best food spots

Came across one guy who’s vids were a bit cringe but he seemed to be pretty detailed, had a weird wife/family but could kinda tolerate it for the info provided

UNTIL… he orders some tater tots.. and him and the weird wife refer to them as “Potato Barrels”

Who tf calls them potato barrels?!?! Lol like legit couldn’t keep watching after that lol

68style 08-30-2023 01:26 PM

POTATO BARRELS???????

And here I thought it was weird enough when Americans refer to potato wedges as "Mojo's"

Please share video lol

Lol.

Hondaracer 08-30-2023 08:10 PM

Weirddddd

Mikoyan 08-30-2023 08:17 PM

"Tater Tots" is trademarked. So it has to be called something else.
It's like how "Kleenex" is the generic term a lot of people use for "facial tissues." but you can't use it officially.

I agree though, it's weird to not call them tater tots.
