Assuming if it's from Japan it's 15 years old, isn't it exempt from duty? Or is that 25 years and older?

So I bought a refurb Danby dehumidifier for my basement.

Something's wrong with it since it seems to be only blowing cold air. Compressor sounds like it's in.

Any thoughts?

Is it cold in the basement? Dehumidifiers need to be in a somewhat warm temperature to be effective

My hygrometer says it's 22c and 70% humidity.

https://www.danby.com/products/dehum...r040bfcwdb-me/

Supposed to operate as low as 5c

Can you set the target humidity level? If it's over 70% it won't turn on

So you're sure the compressor is pumping? It's just putting out room temp air and no liquid is being pulled?

Yeah, target is 40.

If I turn on the dehumidifier, it starts blowing air right away. After a few seconds, something else turns on with a slight buzz (like on older fridges).

I am assuming that's the compressor.

As far as I understand it, anything not manufactured in US or Mexico is subject to duty regardless of age.

I know for sure that isn't the case because there was no duty on my e30. It must be 25 years then. I paid PST, GST, and whatever the A/C cost is (like $200ish)

I think you just got lucky man... they don't go through RIV but they are subject to duty

"Customs Tariff, taxes and duties
46. Vehicles eligible for importation into Canada will be assessed for duty, excise tax and the goods and services tax. The CBSA will assess duty on a vehicle manufactured in a country other than the US and Mexico."

Does anyone have a lead on a good sales person at The BMW Store? Looking to explore a pre-owned 5-series to learn more about it. Thanks in advance.

Don't think anyone has mentioned this, but Broadway between Underhill Avenue and Lake City Way is once again, a two way street. Then, I discovered that Winston Street/Government Road from Lougheed to Production is now fully open, as well. Damn..............

Eastbound Winston from Winston Slip (gotta love that name) to Production/Brighton Avenue is closed, but westbound is open (not 24/7). I can once again go from Austin and Lougheed straight to Production and at times all the way to Bainbridge bypassing the clusterfuck on Lougheed. Hell, I got all the way to Sperling then onto Kensington to Royal Oak.

The stretch from SPerling to Philips is a bit of a nightmare.

Anyway.................. shortcuts, ftmfw!
