Went to McDonalds yesterday morning for the 'ol Sausage 'n Egg combo w/ double hashbrown and it came out to $13.29 USD = $18.36 CAD. WHAT!!
The extra hashbrown alone came out to $3.19+tax!
Grumble grumble... back when I used to work at McDonalds, there was a button for 2 hashbrowns, and it definitely wasn't $3...
Anyway, I'd rather have the Lido satay beef noodle, good lord. For my $18 at least I'm getting some wok hei.
We were in San Diego two weeks ago. Inflation sucks major balls in the states. I love SD and it's probably the only city I've been so far in the world I'd consider moving to with family, but the prices are god damn unreal. Everything is the same price as Vancouver or more, but in USD instead of CAD.
La Jolla in SD is quite nice but I’d still prefer the Bay Area. Just not SF. The homeless owns that town now and it’s no longer safe for normal people occupation. Too dangerous.
But outside of Sf like Marion county it’s nice or further east to Palo Alto and go to my Alma mater

Accident southbound on Boundary Road. Tesla Model Y on its back like a sow bug. At first, I thought it was a single car accident. There are concrete barriers along the road and this accident was right after an intersection. Then, further down was a Subaru SUV with front left damage. The Subaru was driven by a youngster taking an ICBC road test. Don’t know who hit who, but it looked more like Tesla lost control. Subaru was trying to avoid. Tesla driver is on a whatever they’re called on wheels and didn’t look dead. Poor kid taking the road test.

Yep. Though to be fair, the salaries out here are scaled with that higher cost of living so if you moved down, you'd actually do ok.

Yeah it'd already been going downhill over the years, and got decidedly worse during the pandemic. Now we only go in if we have to, and then get the heck out.

Yeah I know I’m like a country bumpkin but I got accepted into Stanford law. I went for a year and then couldn’t justify the cost so I gave it up. The debt was crushing and I’m really not that smart.
you can add it to your resume / linkedin with some cheeky playful words like someone taking a 6 month real estate cert/course and put "sauder school of business" there like they graduated with a bidness degree
Richmond....check
N driver....check
Tesla..... check

That whole thing pisses me off so much. I've been in car accidents where there's absolutely nothing I could have done (I was parked) and that is fkd up. And the amount of rehab I legitimately had to do was quite significant (chiro 3x, active rehab 5x, IMS 3x per week)
This is literally a life changing incident for the victim and its gonna be so much more difficult to have to endure (assuming they survive).
Meanwhile, ICBC is gonna be like here's 5K and a voucher to some therapy.

Yeah I think I spent $4000 for When we were young in Vegas last year lol. Select your travel partners carefully and go for it. If it's something you wanna do it's worth it.

I stopped going to Jinya a while back. It's too fucking expensive.
For contrast, I just came back from Kokoro with a buddy.
Costed us $45 after a 15% tip for a mentaiko mazesoba, tamago ramen, and a coke zero.

Kintaro, the OG ramen place downtown is also roughly 20 bucks a bowl. Two people and it’s 40 dollars. At least you leave filled to the brim with porky goodness.
