That sucks, I guess only way it affects you minimally is if you keep the car for like the life of the car |
Better than the usual result of your car getting hit while parked of someone just leaving, but still sucks a lot. It takes talent to do that much damage in a parking lot hit. |

My last 2 vehicle leases I was well up in equity to resell either privately or back to the dealership. Fast forward to the last year of the lease and the last 2 vehicles had someone hit me at their fault with bodywork damage. Given the prices of parts/painting/etc even minor damage comes out to $5K+ in repairs. I've easily lost around $6-8K in positive equity on these vehicles as a result of an accident completely out of fault. It's fucking ridiculous, given the price of repairs are going up each year, why is the onus on the non-fault driver to lose their equity as a result of someone else's fuck up? |
I argued with this before with ICBC too... they just keep saying "If it's repaired at a valet shop it's good as new" Like fuck it is??? Most shops out there today can't even match a damn bumper anymore let alone carry out damage repairs "good as new".............. |

You try reselling a vehicle repaired at a valet shop @ $8-$10K and see if your buyer responds with "good as new, then". I literally had my last vehicle repaired at Open Road's own "valet" body shop, once the topic of any accidents and repair costs came up their buy-out offer instantly dropped by $8,000. Good as new, huh? |
Even if everything else was shit motor/transmission wise compared to the vehicle with superficial claims, the car without any claims will always be worth more on paper. I’m glad it was just the bumper in our case because I don’t think it will get written off, that’s about the only upside here. Now it just turns our long term plans with this car into keeping it until it does VS trading it in toward somthing. As well, as with so many before me, if this accident had written our car off, all it does it force me to spend hella more money to get another vehicle. Because whatever I’d get for this car, I’d have to spend another 15-25 to get a vehicle we’d keep long term. The plan was to make this car last 2-3 years longer then drop 60-70 on something new, but this type of BS, completely driven by a stranger hitting our car could have easily forced us to spend a bunch of money we otherwise wouldn’t have had to as well. |
I'm terrified parking in high risk spots aka first car spots on tight corners / blind turns. |
Honda it's a g37. Just spray paint the tails black and put in a cannon and someone will pay the extra that's depreciated out of the accident. Value goes up 6k for $250 and 6 minutes of work. |
Have been thinking of chopping the springs hmmm |
Make yours go moooooOoOOoooOoooOoo like all the Surrey ones |
Put Skyline badging on it too the depreciation from the accidents will be a wash |
You mean, this isn’t a skyline?.. |

it's that time to buy a new mattress. fuck I hate doing this. I feel like I'm getting robbed every time. should a primo mattress cost $2-3K? I'm totally in for a king with springs/coils, but $2500? ugh |
no man, primo mattress is 5-8k. 2-3k is pretty budget. Grab a tempurpedic orange label or higher. omfg its soooo good. https://www.sleepcountry.ca/tempur-p...product/11861M We just grabbed this one for the new house and its fan.friggin.tastic. I bought a lowly sealy postrapedic last year before we bought the house and its not even close to how good this new one is. |
man ive been binge-watching this guy's reviews. its so good, dying |

Don't go to Sleep Country, those guys are shady as hell from a price perspective. At any of these places, always negotiate. If you're set on Sleep Country, go to the one in Coquitlam beside IKEA, my friend Zabrina works there and she'll give you a friends/family discount if you let me know. We just bought a new mattress from The Brick, ended up settling on the Tempurpedic Hybrid, came to about $2,500 plus taxes. Getting delivered tomorrow, can't wait. I haven't heard good things about those mattress in a box companies in terms of their longevity (Douglas, Endy, Casper, etc.). Some recommend Mr. Mattress on Venables, might be worth popping into. |

Costco has pretty crazy deals, we have a “Kirkland” mattress that from all accounts is just a rebranded high end Serta. Costco includes the delivery in online sales etc. The only issue is you can’t try them before hand. The mattress ours is apparently a copy of is a $4000 mattress we got for $2200 I think. It’s super comfortable but a little too soft for us I think, but for the headache of returning etc. we can live with it for now. Have a few friends with endys etc. all seem pretty good for a spare bedroom etc. not sure if I’d use it as my main though. Craziest mattress I’ve ever felt was a friend who had this pure organic foam mattress, never felt anything like it before but I think that mattress is like 20k lol |
