Anyone own a vertical pellet smoker? Thinking of getting one to make my smoking life easier and more frequent. Any recs?

roastpuff 12-27-2023 07:08 PM

What are you using now? I have a pellet grill and it's been pretty easy to use, especially with wifi probes and app control of the grill.

I'm using a Weber Kettle right now and I smoke ribs and turkeys on it - it's a fair bit of work to keep it around the right temp. My turkey this Xmas was a big hit and I love smoking stuff so I wanna get something that's easier to manage and which lets me do bigger cooks.

The Camp Chef XXL looks really promising: https://www.campchef.com/cc-vertical...6axrvCwoQNLXvA

It's $1199 at Bass Pro (more than I prefer to spend) and takes up less space than a grill (I already got 3 other BBQs).

I'd wait for the Costco Traeger roadshow in the spring. Wait NVM you said vertical. I'm not sure about verticals but look for ones that have probe inputs and wifi/app control for max easy lol

I need a fresh install of Windows 11 Pro. I need it on a USB . why the hell is it so expensive. does anybody know where I can get a cheap version?

bcrdukes 12-28-2023 05:48 AM

Are you able to download and then transfer it onto USB? You can use the official Media Creation Tool to download the files onto USB. Would that work? If so, you can get it for $39.99 (I think USD?) from StackSocial.

What dukes said, you can download the files and create it yourself. I've been doing that with Win10

Thanks for the tip on the Costco/Traeger roadshow. I'd prefer a vertical smoker since they take up less space, I don't need the grilling function, and they have better performance but for the right price I'll sign up for a horizontal one.

if it creates a bootable iso file, it should work? I'm not upgrading from 10 to 11, I need to boot into a clean system. I'll check it out, thanks.

edit: just checked it out. you have to be running Windows 10 to upgrade to 11. this won't work for me.

Badhobz 12-28-2023 09:01 AM

yeah so just do a clean install of windows 10, then upgrade it for free to windows 11. Windows 10 you can grab very cheaply off ebay or that stacksocial stuff

The Windows 11 Pro download is not an upgrade, it is a standalone download which you can create into a bootable ISO file on USB.

I bought a copy of Win11 for Cdn $39.99 from the PC World Shop when I built a new PC last year:

https://shop.pcworld.com/

It's a legitimate store.

bcrdukes 12-28-2023 10:30 AM

It's the same store as StackExchange. :)

And I believe you can still install W10 for free with an old W7 key, if you have one kicking around.

Thought you guys would get a laugh outta this one, my dad sent me this pic over the holidays.

We've been doing this car obsession for a long time now :lol

He totaled this 240SX racing the damn thing on the highway heading to Tofino.

RIP to that beauty.

Dawwww that smile warms my heart. You can totally tell you’re in love with the car

I wish my parents had money growing up. I was in love with a Nissan Sentra XE, Hoping it was an SE and dreaming it would turn into a 240sx

punkwax 12-29-2023 02:01 PM

My bro had one of those. I used to love it when he let me rip it around town. I felt so cool in it compared to my little accord hatchback lol

What are your NYE's plans? What is available in 'Fun Vancouver'? A train ride in Stanley Park? Free ride on transit ? .... :lol

Any family friendly events?

MG1 12-29-2023 05:48 PM

We should revive Operation Revnose.

Now that I have a dashcam, I can so prove to you guys that cute blonde chicks in tight shiny blue skirts prancing across streets exist. Man, I still see it in my mind like it happened yesterday. Smiled and waved at me, she did.

El Bastardo can be dispatcher, again.

Then breakfast at IKEA after it’s all done.

I bought a mahjong set from yohan today.
I’ve officially became an old Chinese man. The mahjong makes it official.

yo check the case. it looks a bit tight.

Is that a mini ATX? if you have a big beefy GPU like a 4080 it'll have air flow problems in a tight case.

The top looks like a radiator for watercooling. Thats nice! (looks like cosairs?)
