I just ran one new wire from the battery and added an aux fuse box.

I'll have you guys know I was the guy who found that street racing location. Port Kells was getting too stupid back in the day when all them high schoolers started coming out. Anyway, Glouchester Industrial Estates. Such great memories.

Also found the road by the Fraser River near Fort Langley. River Road, LOL.

I was one of those high schoolers at PK. My apologies.

Us Surrey hoods had “the flats” AKA Colebrook Road for late night shenanigans. Had a quarter mile marked. Good times.

Uh, you mean a dashcam? Or are you talking about something else? Why would I run a rear facing cam on my dash, am I running a fake taxi?

Living in Vancouver it's a must IMO.

Absolute must. It saved my dad 4x now. He got rear ended 4x (just the worst luck) and even with only a front facing dash cam he was absolved of fault.

I agree that it's a must. Even if you don't want to put any effort into doing a good install -- hiding your wires, hooking the power up to the fusebox, etc. it is easy enough to just get a 1-channel something that plugs into the 12V outlet.

For my family, it has helped us 3 or 4 times in dealing with ICBC. Video evidence (of this sort) doesn't lie, so it just makes the claiming process that much more straightforward. I have also used it a number of times to help the random motorist when I witnessed an accident.

Any recommendations on which front and rear dash cams are a good purchase these days?

Big fan of Thinkware, but the 70mai cams with the Sony 4k sensors are looking like great value.

Viofo A119 also a good pick.

I've been running the Viofo A118 and A119 in multiple vehicles for ages now without a problem, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more of their stuff.

Kind of relieved property assessment only went up by only 3% this time around.

Better than 2022 when it went up by 23%.

Overall increase in Burnaby is at 3%. As long as I'm with everybody else, I'm good.

It's based on the market though... not sure what makes you think that?

On that note, they're hilariously low in Vancouver compared to other parts of the country.

Could use Mr. Clean Magic eraser of the digital kind.

I remember an RS user, who shall remain anonymous, posted a blurred out nude pic of his ex. I said, “WTF?” He promptly sent me the original photo through PM.

I just picked up the VIOFO A229 Plus Duo. 2K front and back. It uses the newer STARVIS 2 sensors.

I'm not a fan of 70mai. Their hardwire kits don't let you adjust the voltage cutoff and they're set lower than 12V, making it hard to start the car. My MIL's car ran out of juice several times and she drives daily.

Absolute must. I have dashcams in both cars in the fam and it saved us from several hit-and-runs while our cars were parked. Made resolving accidents very quick and efficient, including one where someone was using a false witness. And it also helped us even in one incident where someone changed lanes without looking and my wife had to steer into a curb to avoid an accident, only to destroy our own tire. No actual collision and of course the other car was oblivious and long gone, but we were able to make a claim given we caught the plate and we have evidence of the incident. We were able to get a new tire covered.

Ever since Operation Revnose all those years ago, I decided I have to get with the times. I wish they had Dashcams back when I went on the 4-1/2 week road trip across North America.

It has saved me and other drivers multiple times. Everything from witnessing other drivers getting hit while parked to dump trucks dropping their entire load of dirt, rocks, and boulders in front of me on Hwy1 going at 110 kph. Driver didn’t secure rear gate. Sent it in to ICBC.

I have two Thinkware dual dashcams with extra mounts so I can easily switch between the cars. I have them hard wired and on an independent switch. I have 256 gb cards (12) of them, that I rotate and reformat after a week or so. A couple of close red light infractions where I have definitive proof that I was in the right or wrong. In case I get a red light camera ticket in the mail.

Combined with my Drone Mobile alarm, I’ve busted thieves attempting to break into my car. Time and date stamps, ftw! Speed indicator, kind of. Another feature I like, but don’t use that often is the Thinkware app where you can see where you are on a map while watching the footage. Oh yeah, the speed and red light camera warnings. Has saved me countless times. My Escort radar detector does all that, but it’s still good to have both working.

Forgot another one. Because the dashcam has built in WiFi, I can change settings on the fly and review footage on my phone to prove to dip shit who hit me, I have proof.

I'm thankful that even when I was terrible with girls, any time I was put in a situation like this I knew to simply hop in my car and drive over there instead of writing a thesis on the origins of the word slut.
