Wishful thinking, Badhobz. Refer to my signature.
The kid won't drive, won't get a driver's license, won't want a car, and will tell dad to get an Uber/Lyft. Or call you to drive him.

I look back at people I grew up with who had kids shortly out of high school, man, what a completely different trajectory their lives took as opposed to my own. Most of them never got to do shit, maybe a Mexico vacation a couple times in their lives | Some people really shouldn't have kids and a lot of those who shouldn't don't recognize that. It takes a lot of self retrospective to know you don't want kids.
I'm sure there are those who are successful who had kids early, but those seem few and far between. Blanket statement here, but those that have accidents at a young age, chances are they don't have the self control or correct mindset to begin with. Kid or not they probably wouldn't have been successful.

100%
Don’t think a single one of the people I knew who had a kid 2-3 years out of HS ever did much post-secondary, and most seemingly work average jobs where maybe you’ve progressed into management just by virtue of time served.
Whereas my wife, 38, is about to finish her second degree, has had time to dedicate to getting her PMP and other professional designations to climb the career ladder. It’s obviously substantially harder for women to excel in their careers if you had a couple kids early in life
These days if your parents don’t have money and you have a kid before you’re 20, you’re -fucked-

One of the key issues I have are the girls who are picky being picky.
I know i'm getting flamed for this but when you're 28-32 that's prime time to settle to have kids. Now if you're a lawyer, doctor and just traveling to get your schooling done then yeah, it'll be SUPER hard to settle down in a city.
Once you're ready to find a place to work say 35... you only got 1-2 years of solid dating and have kids before 40.
Now, if you're the type that are picky from 28 - 38... then that's your problem.
Puberty (esp. growing taller) and child birthing are the only things you can't cheat mother nature.

I'm 38 and the GF is 36, and she's thinking about freezing her eggs "just in case".
I'm like honey, I hope you don't get buyers remorse doing that, because my stance on having kids is likely not to change here, the ship has pretty much sailed for us.
My parents are old, so are hers, grandparents are gone. That's the caveat to waiting until your late 30s with children, the support system dries up because family is all old now. We're also set in our ways and enjoy the lifestyle we have. When you're younger you're more mailable, able to pivot the pitfalls of raising a kid, as you get older, not so much.
She's on the side of likely not having any, but it doesn't help when all her Flip and Asian housewife friends are popping 'em out left, right, and center.

Guy is 36, girl is 39 this year. They just bought a rock to get married sometime in the next year or so and they have both said they wanted to have kids at some point.
Nothing against them as people as the guy is a good friend of mine who's gone through some shit in his life. He's a great guy but sometimes his head is not screwed on properly. I'm not sure how but he's managed to impulse buy 3 cars in his life time, Civic Si back in 2012, 2020 ND2 Miata, then he bought a used M340i last year. Girl impulse bought a used base Mini Cooper before they got together, which she was severely upside down on when she totalled it end of 2022.
They visit us and see us with our kids a few times a year and the last time they came by his tune about kids have kind of changed and he's not sure about kids. She's still all gung ho about it but she's turning 39.
I keep telling him to think about it and talk with her about the whole kids thing. But knowing them, they'll probably get pregnant and be like, "Yay we having kids" one day.

Yea... ^was gonna say.
Having kids is a wonderful thing, but its commitment to the fullest~ Super rewarding, but also very restrictive in terms of lifestyle then... especially the early few years.
We also didnt have help from grandparents (well they helped us immensely on the house downpayment so if I were to choose again, I probably still choose the downpayment hahaha). Good thing my wife didn't even have her career started yet, so we bit the bullet and she has stayed home full time ever since.
My daughter finally got her red cross babysitting license a week ago (signed up for the course even before daughter's bday hahaha). Wife just finished her resume, hopefully they do mean better income in the future~~

WTF is this $20/hr shit lolol I am like I cant afford you. | I pay $30/hr for my babysitter but she's a full time nanny so pretty fancy in terms of what she offers. It's total overkill for us but when you find a good one that you like you just leave it - my daughter loves her and my wife trusts her so that's that.
We did shop around for the $20/hr babysitters but none of them were any good - lot of flakes, lot of people who didn't have the personality/touch needed for a young kid (but fine for older kids).

The girl is 120% not mother material. She goes gets her lashes done every other week and she communicates poorly. She would be the type I would say that causes childhood trauma because she can't make it understood what she's expecting and what she wants but just lashes out at your for not doing what she thinks is the right thing to do.
I think the guy gets that so he's not as much into having kids anymore.
We know another couple where the girl is super duper uber rich, to the point where she barely works but spends like crazy. She's got a temper and so does the guy. We've talked to her about kids and she says she's neutral about it but the guy wants kids. They got a dog together which they ended up returning to the breeder after 2 months. Afterwards her tune became I would have kids, but he's not the right guy for it.

^ Yah, saw that. If they had to shut down the Massey Tunnel even for a day ... oh gawd, good luck !!
But then, had we let the Provincial Libs do their thing, there'd be a bridge there by now.

I bet she gets manis and pedis every few weeks too, maybe a little botox and fillers as well, dropping the cost of rent per month on such crap.
I wanna guess her career -- I would've gone with lash tech, esthetician, or nurse.

I was telling my wife last year, this is a woman who's 38, has nothing in her name except for upside debt on her totalled Mini Cooper. Was renting a room with a bunch of other nurses until my friend came along. Now they live together in my friend's 1 bdrm condo.
Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of this woman? |
