Ah, full service gas stations. I remember working at the Texaco gas station on 4th and Burrard when I was in high school. We checked the oil on every car, because that's where the gas station made the most money. The oil came only in cans, not bottles like today.

The scar on my wrist comes from checking the radiator fluid level on this dude's car. The cap was left on the last notch and when I went to open it, it blew open, getting rad fluid on my sweatband. I took it off ASAP, but the damage was done. 4+ decades later, the scar is still there.

Nobody back then knew how to sue anybody, LOL. And, McDonald's was like a new thing. Hot coffee was served in a cafe like it should be............

Its not a VISA card, but it treats like a visa card (VISA Card's #s) So let say if you want to buy a movie ticket online, you select VISA as your payment, then you can enter the # of your VISA access card.

It doesn't use your credit when you purchase something, it links to your chequing account then deduct from there

It's just more simpler then a credit card. I know a lot of people that don't want to have one and this is the next best option and you still get to use all of the benefits of having one when you don't have one.

People who don't want to build credit? :/

Even with that explanation I dont see the point? Your potentially paying fee's and missing out on the perks of potential point systems, rewards etc

I got my RBC "virtual Visa card" a few weeks ago, in the mail. I didn't apply for it though... which is why it's still sitting in the envelope, on my desk.

Why would I forego my rewards points and use money from my account sooner, anyway? Silly RBC

I've been using a "Global Payment" Mastercard that draws directly from my chequeing account for like 8 years. I have a line of credit on that account which I guess may be required.

I pretty much only use my MBNA cash back card unless they only take Visa or I'm using the ATM at my bank to deposit/withdrawl cash though. They've sent me a ton of cash back and I don't carry a balance.

I think it's because thats what the Americans have because they don't have a debit system. If you do a lot of shopping in the US it's going to be great so you don't have to worry about using your credit cards if you don't want to.
