VS

bcrdukes 02-05-2024 07:23 AM

I use the Capri tools wrench. It will still get suck. I just bang it on the floor and it comes right off.

Best solution: Take it to Maserati Vancouver.

Badhobz 02-05-2024 07:30 AM

so it was stuck on the bottom of the camry and i couldn't get it off. i had to take off the oil filter, bang it off and then hand torque it back on.

ANNOYING AS FUCK

FYI.

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-68208157

King Charles has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, says Buckingham Palace.

It is not prostate cancer, but was discovered during his recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

The type of cancer has not been revealed, but according to a palace statement the King began "regular treatments" on Monday.
Buckingham Palace says the King "remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible".

He will postpone his public engagements and it is expected other senior royals will help to stand in for him during his treatment.

No further details are being shared on the stage of cancer or a prognosis.
The King, 75, returned to London from Sandringham in Norfolk on Monday morning and the palace says he has commenced treatment as an outpatient.

^^ Just caught that very same piece of news, and literally the first thing that came to mind was -- oh shxt... that is a short reign at the throne...

IMO in recent years the Royal Family has a very good PR machine. Given the popularity of William and Kate, I think Charles should take this opportunity and abdicate.

God bless the King.

murd0c 02-05-2024 10:04 AM

So Nostradamus made prophecy that is said to be about King Charles "The sudden death of the first character, he will be changed and another will be placed in his kingdom,"

I don't really believe that shit but it makes you think when you hear shit like this but coming from Nostradamus anything is possible.

So should Canada hold off putting his face on the money? Get ready for hundreds of millions to be wasted on another funeral and then another 100 plus on another coronation.

Badhobz 02-05-2024 11:01 AM

should print his face on India's Rupees

It's already in circulation -- I've seen it on a nickel before.

Abandon the stupid monarchy all together.

Just saw the queens Range Rover up for sale for $279,000

Nice use of funds.

mikemhg 02-05-2024 11:45 AM

$279? That seems oddly low.

Most people can barely use a screwdriver and allen keys to assemble flatpacked furniture. The same could be said for doing anything around the house that requires more than a flathead screwdriver.

To be fair, car engine bays are full of plastic these days and removing panels to access a consumable is far too complicated for most people. Plus, who wants to break a clip on an access panel without a proper panel removal tools, etc. when the cost of replacing OE components is like a minimum of $100 these days?

And the majority of people do not live in homes with garages. I have a double garage that's barely large enough to fit my old E46 and the miscellanous hand tools, hydraulic jacks, stands, ramps, fluid pumps, etc. that I have accumulated over two decades to maintain the vehicles in our family. Don't even have a room for a lift, air compressors, or other next level tools that I would need to actually do more complex work. Most people would balk at spending $200 for a Mastercraft socket set.

Hondaracer 02-05-2024 02:50 PM

Also it’s simply not enjoyable? Lol

I don’t have space to work on a car at home but my parents place has everything short of a hoist to work on cars.

The last thing I feel like doing it changing a fuel pump or an alternator etc. on most modern cars. When I had my truck It still had enough space in the engine bay it wasn’t so bad to work on. Newer cars I simply have no interest in trying to jam my meaty hands down into tight spaces to fix things.

It’s also one thing to casually work on a project car, it’s somthing else entirely to stress over getting your only means of transportation back on the road

Great68 02-05-2024 03:00 PM

The one and only time I've let a shop do an oil change on my car was Signature Mazda for the "Free first oil change"....

And they overfilled it by nearly a full litre...

I do most of my own work. Having two other vehicles to use if one's down lowers the stress and lets you take your time.
But there are some jobs that would be just too much of a hassle that I take in. Like I replaced all the brake lines on the sonoma myself after one rusty old one blew out on me a few years ago. But, when the fuel pump went I took that to a shop. I knew trying to drop a full fuel tank in my driveway on my back wasn't going to be a fun time.

I did the water pump on my F150 myself last summer. I wish I just took it in. It was such a pain in the ass to access, truck was too tall to see and reach from the top, too many hoses and lines in the way to try and get at it on my back from the bottom. If it was on a hoist, it would have been a piece of cake.

westopher 02-05-2024 04:28 PM

I'll do most of the work on my older cars. It's rewarding and it's fun, but I have a different method of transportation if need be. Although, in previous times, that alternate transport was the bus. Nothing wrong with that. Driving to work is boring anyways.

In THAT case... sounds like you're buying a second car. Get a FUN shitbox, she'll put you to work anyway, might as well make it worth it.
