I only need two. :lol

lol. I’m at the IKEA in Renton. They have meatball sundae. I ordered one. Not bad. Three meatballs over a scoop of mashed potatoes, gravy, and lingonberry sauce. Not sure if you can get them in an IKEA in Canada.

I checked out the Ikea food court while I was in HK and it was fucking wild.

They had the usual hot dogs and cinnamon buns, but they also had mini sausages, meatballs, chicken wings, chicken legs, etc.

Even had mini donuts, popcorn and matcha ice cream.

:ahwow:

Yea occasionally go down the rabbit hole of YouTubers eating Costco or IKEA in different countries

Pretty sure IKEA in the Philippines has a menu similar to jolliebee lol

Razor Ramon HG 02-21-2024 09:17 PM

The one in Taipei has tea eggs and beef bakes. You can also get your own soft serve ice cream by dropping some coins in, lol.

Haven't been to the new Costco in SZ since there's none in HK, but the Costco in Taiwan is also killer for premade meals. I remember there being tons of sashimi/sushi, fried chicken, ramen kits, etc.

The food court also had beef bakes, fried chicken and clam chowder, lol.

whitev70r 02-21-2024 09:40 PM

What do IKEA cafeterias in Sweden have ... just the boring sh*t like Swedish meatballs and veggie balls with Ligonnberry sauce?

Surely you ballers shop at Dollarama in order to save pennies so that you can afford your Corvettes, BMW's, and Lexus :lol.

Here's a little thank you for shopping there - Class action suit, register for $15 gift certificate https://reglementecofraisdollarama.com/en/

Went to Long's and Hao Chi Lai to do a XLB head to head.

https://i.postimg.cc/k5yb4hG2/IMG-5456.jpg
This is Long's

https://i.postimg.cc/RZKfr0zQ/IMG-5453.jpg
This is Hao Chi Lai

Clearly the Hao Chi Lai XLBs look better visually. The wrapper is thin but not too thin and the pork soup inside is way more flavorful. They also gave the proper vinegar, look at the color difference. one is dark like molasses, the other one is diluted and dull.

For authenticity, Hao Chi Lai wins it for sure. For that guangdong infused flavor, Long's is okay.

bcrdukes 02-22-2024 05:54 PM

Long's - I am disappoint. :okay:

Say no to Guangdonger'ized flavours!

Hondaracer 02-22-2024 05:56 PM

The pictures in the Hao Chi Li google reviews look killer will have to check it out

XLB DRAMA CONTINUES !!!!!!!!

https://www.richmond-news.com/local-...-court-7858063

Long's owner used to work at Hao Chi Lai

As for longs, the owner is Shanghainese yes. But no one else on her staff is. She does have this fancy beep machine that'll buzz you when your food is ready vs the other lady who has to run out to yell at you.

Folks,

I need two nylon washers in this specific size: 5/8” OD with a 7/16’ ID and ¼” thick

Is this a common size or specialty? Tried looking on Rona/Lowes and Home Depot. Some of the specs are not listed or I am reading it wrong. Thanks in advance.

just a couple ideas,

can you stack washers or does it need to be two solid ones?

can you find a piece of tube or pipe with the same ID and OD and cut it to 1/4"?

Razor Ramon HG 02-22-2024 08:59 PM

Alright, you fuckers have convinced me. I will try some of this XLB this weekend.

I swear to God that the Hao Chi Lai lady must have given you "the good stuff" bcos you spoke Shanghainese to her. Whereas she only gave me the regular stuff bcos I spoke Cantonese to her.

It can be stacked. I suppose I can try that but this is gonna be very difficult, or rather, accessibility to the tools to do it will be tough. I ended up picking up a metal washer at Home Depot, but it's metal and it's not perfect, so consider it a make-shift solution for now.

Below is the application. It's a version 1 of a tow hook and where the hook pivots, it should pivot on the nylon washer to avoid metal-to-metal friction and reaction to environmental temperatures. Because this tow hook is discontinued by the manufacturer, they also don't carry the washer/spacer. Without the spacer, the hook is loose and will pivot with motion, hitting your bumper.

I found the right washer on McMaster-Carr's catalogue but they won't sell me two washers. :D I need a business or institutional account and minimum quantity is 100. :ahwow:

Long's owner used to work at Hao Chi Lai and stole her shit... wowowoowowow

This is old news.. and tbh thinking that the longs owner has the audacity to "steal" her shit. Yeah right. You know how popular Long's is?

She doesn't have to steal shit lmao. HCL is a small fish fighting someone who's had over 20 years of experience and customer base in Vancouver. HCL has only been open for not even a fraction of the time.

This is like if VinFast claimed that Tesla stole their shit. LMAO why would they need to.

I dont know anything about longs but I thought it was a noodle place. Not a shanghainese bao place. I just heard they had a fire and closed down.

Then the owner went to work for this hao chi Lai start a business in the same complex out of spite.

Did longs serve XLBs before ?

Likely…. I’ve had a few times where old ladies give me like either 2x the portion or like better quality stuff just because I’m a giant panda bear looking motherfucker.

There used to be this frozen yogurt place in Oakridge and that lady always gave me 3 frozen yogurt blocks when everyone else got 2 (on a large). Pissed my wife off cuz hers is like way smaller than mine.

Same thing with Costco ice cream. I go ask for one and come back with this sized ice cream

Stop trying to make me fatter !!!!! Why you old ladies keep feeding me

bcrdukes 02-23-2024 05:51 AM

Ironically, Long's full business name was Long's Noodle House and they did serve XLB but it was never the highlight of their menu. It was one of those "IFKYK" sorta dishes but all these uneducated peasant-level Guandongers made a big deal out of it.

EvoFire 02-23-2024 09:19 AM

I've been to Long's and I didn't think their XLB were all that. Just like you guys said it's canto style and it was all wrong. Their drunken chicken was good though.

radeonboy 02-23-2024 12:01 PM

Went to the plaza for some Hao Chi Lai XLBs and didn't realize how busy that food court is. Pretty happy with how the XLBs and wontons tasted. Will grab a bag of frozen dumplings next time I'm there.

Anyone here try the the Hainaese Chicken in the same food court? Online reviews say it's the best place in Richmond for that which seems like pretty high praise.

Traum 02-23-2024 12:33 PM

Given the amount of traffic and business we have driven to Long and Hao Chi Lai, I think both establishments should start giving us an RS discount of some sort.

As an aside, apparently the rice box place next to the stairs at that food court is pretty good. The cart noodle place beside Long's is apparently also very HK authentic in terms of taste.

radeonboy 02-23-2024 12:44 PM

I've only been to Jimmy's Tea House once previously, but now I'll try something from each vendor there. Everything seems pretty solid given the amount of foot traffic there.

That parking lot is a hot mess though.

Get someone to 3d print them. Or find washers in the right OD and drill out the ID. Finding hardware in Canada sucks. Lol.
