He'll ask if you want the software set up, but I'd skip it since there's tons of guides to do it yourself to save money.

You'll have to acknowledge a waiver that he's not at fault if anything goes wrong. Installing the modchip on a Switch requires microsoldering, so it's a lot harder than normal soldering.

BTW, you can't go online with downloaded games unless you want to get your device banned.

Most people will play their legitimate games on the original firmware (called the sysnand) and play their homebrews and downloaded games on the hacked firmware (called the emunand).

The hacked firmware is called the emunand because it's stored on your microSD card and emulated.

You can choose which firmware to boot into when you start up your Switch.

I did it this way for over a year before I sold my Switch and it was never banned.

I still have my release switch so was always scared to mod it at risk of bricking it with no recourse lol.

If you have a release switch, it's even easier since there's a built-in exploit.

You just need an RCM jig and a way to send a payload over the USB port (computer or Android device works).

Pretty hard to brick a Switch from experience. Just follow this guide for your unpatched switch.
