The older I get, the more I realize that people don't give AF about their jobs. It's scary, especially in these highly sensitive industries where life and death are a thing. These are just regular people with very low motivation or integrity in very important positions.
The ones that actually give AF about their work would already have bubbled up the corporate ladder into a supervisory or managerial position, or they would have seeked out a greener pasture for their own good.
Generally, the ones that DGAF tend to remain in menial positions until they screw up bad enough to get themselves fired. But if the job is low risk, then it is more likely that they'll just leech off the system while doing the bare minimum amount of work to get by...
(Actually, that last bit kind of sounds like what I've been doing in the past few years LOL~)
This Boeing BS is way more than just individuals not giving a shit, it’s a culture of failure.
There’s plenty of documentaries on them shifting HQ to Chicago, and the Dreamliner really being the catalyst for outsourcing components of their planes and then doing final assembly in Seattle, as opposed to building everything in house.
The Dreamliner has one of the best safety records of any plan in existence I believe, so I wouldn’t be too concerned, but as the culture of safety slips, who knows with newer models.
I just dumped all my Boeing stock the other day at a 60% loss (probably serves me right for buying the dip after the 2 Max 8’s crashed) however, I wasn’t exactly sold on the Max’s either when on a recent trip to Vegas the entire cabin power shut off while still taxing to the gate (on top of being delayed an hour in Vegas for computer problems ‘the computer not accepting data’)

I keep failing upwards. I don’t know why… I don’t even try. Everyday I just zone out like office space movie.
I do an annual maintenance on my Napoleon, all it takes is a shop vac to get the crusty bits out of the fire box, some compressed air to blow out the burners, and wipe the exterior down with some degreaser/bbq cleaner. Takes me all of like an hour.
emailed the bbqboys, they had no time to do it until end of June. Said fuck it. Broke out the plastic scraper, the degreaser, power washer, steel wool, and a roll of paper towels and went to town.
It might actually be cleaner than when I got it on the outside. The inside are serviceable.
Now I need to clean the deck and furniture so I can chill outside.

You know how I know you appreciate quality? Not only do you have a Weber Genesis BBQ, you have a freaking Trex deck... Low key flex right there.

The Genesis was a floor model at Home Depot. I don't know how much they are supposed to go for, but I paid $700+tax for their last one. The list price was $1499 so I wasn't gonna say no when they offered it while I was actually shopping for the 2 burner.
The trex deck. I know I didn't want to deal with refinishing a wood deck every year or two years, nor do I like the wrapping paper type of deck ala old vancouver specials. Paid a bit more for the trex. I think the deck cost about 6k to build.
I should send my son off to all y'all houses to clean BBQs for spending money when he's older lol
Given that bbqboys is booked out until late June, there's a market for bbq cleaning!

That's crazy, I mean I don't enjoy cleaning my BBQ each spring or fall when I put it away, but it's not something I would ever think of paying someone more than my BBQ is worth to do for me lol

I’d be very curious what their clientele is like.
My old boss had like a $6000 Vermont castings bbq you could cook for a wedding on and even a guy with more money than he knew what to do with would never consider paying someone to clean his bbq lol
Wonder how many people are paying $300-400 for a cleaning on a bbq worth less than that lol
