I just heard a Dana White interview saying that a 16 year old girl who's competent in jiu jitsu could choke you the f*ck out and you wouldn't stand a chance.
Is that really the case? Like against a 30 year old man who is in decent shape, is that possible?
Depends. What ruleset? What's competent, and how well rounded is the girl? What's the weight difference? Does the male have any training? Somebody with zero combat sport training but in decent athletic shape against a girl that's competent will probably get choked out if they're using bjj rules. If the girl only pulls guard, doesn't have good wrestling or takedowns, and hasn't trained any striking might lose against a fit male with some amount of combat sport training in an MMA match.
No shock here but Messi isn't playing this weekend let alone even bother traveling to Vancouver with the team. 2 of the other stars as well. My sons disappointed and honestly not even because of Messi because he was fully prepared this would happen but that the other 2 guys aren't coming that was his oh wells at least I can still see them consolation prize. Thankfully, we weren't dumb enough to gamble on the secondary market for tickets and we'll still have some good father son time.
You can still see Jordi Alba play, maybe

Go buy a black wing or a z06. The new 911s are no longer the death traps of old and thus lost what makes them so great. At least nothing special until you pay 300k for a lousy GT3 beetle.

Please go to your nearest bjj gym, approach a coach and request to challenge a 16 year old girl in a choking contest, ensure they aren't a white belt. Also request for permission to record it, then post results here.
if he's referring to 16yo, dana white is probably referring to helena crevar, she's like a one in generation prodigy and tourny champ. she was taking on black belts and stuff
So guys who own older Porsches (say worth less than $40k) what's the ownership experience like especially compared to a newer Porsche?
I've got an opportunity to get my almost F U money out now but I'm inclined to only take a little bit out and let the rest ride for a few more years. The reality is that I don't really have the time right now to enjoy a new Porsche and I've also seen how painful luxury car taxes are so I think I'd just rather buy used anyways. My wife is also pretty incredulous that I would consider spending $180k on a car
So my thinking now is to just take $25-60k out, buy an older Porsche for the next few years and let the F U money grow bigger to the point where wifey doesn't care what I do with our money.
If you can stretch the budget a tad, get a 997.2 C2S. Or 987.2 Cayman S if not.
Both have the traditional porsche charm, but with the modernity that you can still bag on and enjoy daily without worry.
Delaying for another few years only to buy a vacuum powered 992.2 whatever for 200k+ makes no sense to me. Life's short and the depreciation hit of that would easily cover a few 987s in the meantime.
The interview was about what sports you should put your children into and Dana said BJJ is the only sport that will have a life long impact for children. Especially for girls as this will help protect them against men growing up.
Then he said any 16 year old girl who is competent in BJJ would be able to defend herself against a man.
To me this means that in a street fight a 16 year old girl would be able to choke out a grown man and get away.
I know in BJJ weight and strength are usually trumped by technique, but i'm having a hard time thinking a 16 y.o girl could take on a grown man in the street. Maybe if she's a black belt in BJJ, but I have no experience with BJJ at all, so i'm curious. Maybe Dana was just being hyperbolic?
I don't think he means that she'll be able to choke a man out, but given a chance where she's not completely knocked out or hurt on the encounter, she'll be a stickler enough that the assaulting side may find it not worthwhile.
It's a good defense against crimes of opportunity. If it's targeted though it will probably be a lot harder.
Any reputable martial arts instructor would tell you that standing your ground to fight is your last option.

I just talked to a co-worker. He said his wife got runner up at provincials in highschool for wrestling.
He said that he's wrestled her before and she can totally take him to the ground. He said she would hook his leg and throw him to the ground. She doesn't know any BJJ, but he said it's not easy to wrestle with her. He did say he can out muscle her on the ground, but he thinks if she knew submissions he would be out of luck.
Not like a fight is anything you’d ever want to actively engage in, but in highschool there were a couple groups that always had beef, and specifically with one or two guys
One of the guys in question was a boxer, I’m sure totally amateur nothing even competitive but he definitely knew how to fight. Watched this guy beat the shit out of guys twice his size with some basic fighting experience.
Definitely an asset either way, and especially for women unfortunately these days

While skill is important, size and strength matter enough that all the serious BJJ competitors are all roided up to the gills. Helena is a Danaher prodigy and definitely not your average 16 year old BJJ girl.
Has anyone used Walmart's curbside pickup service recently?
I'm visiting tomorrow and have an order to pick up. I thought I could just walk in to pick it up, but apparently I have to park my car in a designated pick up zone? Could anyone confirm their recent experience? Thanks.

i think that's how it works, you park in the spot, you call or use the app to say you're here and which stall you're in, and someone brings it to your car. it's been a while since i've used it but that's how it works.
Thank you! I had a few people tell me it was a royal pain in the ass and takes forever, but could not verify how recent their experience was.
Not curbside but i did instore pickup for an online order awhile back and it was indeed a pain in the ass and took forever.
